Reserve Best in Show - Hunt's Ch Lauralee Huckleberry Finn at Carpaccio JW - Smooth

1^st – Vincent – Breezelyn Long Awaited By Gainscroft – Handsome Red, well angulated front with prominent forechest, nice head and eye, move well holding his topline.

1^st - Paskins – Kindeace Hit The Road Jack JW – superb body and coat on this handsome Shaded Red, head of good length, strong jaw, nice eye and expression, prominent forechest. muscular rear, moved freely.

1^st – Vincent - Gainscroft Dashing Dudley – Shaded Red, liked his balance and proportions, exceptionally nice head, eye and expression, has a neck he uses stacked and on the move, his topline is firm with a well set and carried tail, prominent forechest, good length of ribbing and tight feet, move true front and back with drive in profile, nice boy.

2^nd – Paskins – Kindeace Texas Range ShCEx - Red, larger all round than above and longer in profile, nice head and eye, his forechest is prominent, tight feet, he moved true both ways holding a firm topline.

1^st – Paskins – Cedavoch It’s Taboo At Kindeace – six and half year old Shaded Red, excellent coat and presentation, good forechest and neck, firm topline, touch narrow in front, liked his head and eye.

1^st – Garlick – Ranglewood Arashi – ten years, quality Shaded Red, liked his eye, balance and proportions, head of good length, dark eye with alert expression, exceptional length and spring of rib, reachy neck, firm topline, muscular rear, good bend of stifle and short strong hocks, good lay of shoulder with return of upper arm, tight elbows, prominent forechest, his movement is free in profile, and true on the out and back.

2^nd – Garlick – Ranglewood Harvest Song – coming up to 8 years Black and Tan, handsome boy, good coat and condition, pleasing head and eye, moved well, preferred balance of above.

1^st – Dare – Darsoms Zyrhona – 12 months feminine Shaded Red of quality, ideal size and balance, liked her head, eye and ears, alert expression, neck into good lay of shoulder, with return of upper arm enabling her to move with reach, tight elbows, prominent forechest, good length of ribbing which are well sprung, good bend of stifle, short strong hocks and tight feet, she moves with freedom and style and is very true and parallel on the out and back, lovely coat and body condition.

2^nd – Vincent – Breezelyn A Long Story At Gainscroft – really nice Black and tan in gleaming coat condition, slightly lower to ground than above, she has good bone and feet, free flowing movement, nice shoulder and rear angles, again short strong hocks, prominent forechest and good length to her ribbing, feminine head of good length, alert expression from correct shaped eye.

1^st – Heap – Ranglewood Katrine – 2 years Black and Tan, lovely type and balance, correct shoulder with a prominent forechest, long ribbing and a firm topline, her tail is well set and carried true on the up and back.

2^nd – Dare – Darsoms Zyrobi – Shaded Red, different type to above, longer on the leg and shorter in profile, nice forechest and ribbing, looked nice going round the ring, can still strengthen behind.

1^st – Garlick – Ranglewood Trick or Treat – feminine Black and Tan of lovely shape, good length of neck and firm topline, her angles front and rear are very good, her ribs are rounded and go well back, very happy to show off her virtues. Reserve Best Bitch

I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge at this well run friendly show. I would like to thank my Stewards who did an excellent job of keeping the rings running smoothly.

A huge thank you to the exhibitors who entered under me and thank you for your sporting acceptance of my placings. I was very happy with my placings, however, I would have loved there to be more first places in certain classes as some classes were very strong with quality exhibits!

Miniature Wire-Haired

Class 30 – Puppy Dog

1st – Bimini Song Sung Blue, 11 month old wild boar boy, small and of lovely type, beautiful head, medium almond eyes, good ears, well set and carried correctly, slightly arched muzzle, excellent mouth. Good length of neck. Good shoulder flowing into withers and lovely front assembly, with good upper arm and correct angulation. excellent feet. Body of good length, excellent ribbing and length of Keel, short in loin. Beautifully angulated in the rear, broad rump, slightly sloping croup down to tail. Coat of correct texture and immaculately presented. Moved beautifully around the ring – very balanced young man and quite lovely to look at. A lovely young boy who I’m sure will make his mark in the ring! One I would have loved to take home. Congratulations to his clever breeder! RBD, BPD!

Class 31 – Junior Dog

1st – CH Almarxils Diego for Ruichango, a 15 month old red boy. Another lovely type, very well put together and cuts a lovely profile. Lovely head, lovely size and shaped eye, excellent ears of correct length and correctly set. Well arched muzzle and excellent mouth with large teeth. Long neck sloping into withers. Good shoulder placement and well placed upper arm giving Lovely front assembly, correctly angulated. excellent feet, Prominent breast bone with well sprung ribs and good length of keel. Good bone! Short in loin and beautifully shaped topline sloping down from croup to tail. Very well-muscled everywhere. Beautifully angulated rear with correct thigh and second thigh – balanced and correct everywhere and moved lovely around the ring – I was splitting hairs between this boy and the puppy boy and he won on maturity and showmanship today. BD, RBOB.

Class 32 – Post Graduate Dog

1st – Birichino Barley of Robinswood, 5 year old brindle boy. Lovely correct head and face, good mouth, almond eye, decent ear length. Slightly straighter in front. Lovely topline, sound in the rear. Moved sound in all directions.

Class 33 – limit Dog

1st - Barratini Du Beke at Lokmadi, 14 month sturdy red boy. Decent head with a nice eye and good mouth. Thickset in neck, good angulation in front, deep chest, well ribbed. Well angulated rear, moved soundly round the ring.

2nd – Gulliagh Loganberry of Robinswood, 6 year old wild boar, longer in muzzle, level in top line, good length. Moved sound around the ring.

1st Emem Joyful Sunshine, 7 month old wild boar bitch of real quality. She’s a beautiful and spirited girl, loves the showring! She’s a lovely size and shape with fluid movement, extremely well balanced. She has a beautiful head / face, lovely length of muzzle, slightly arched, medium almond shaped eye, lovely neck into withers, excellent topline with sloping loin and broad rump. Beautifully angulated in front and rear. Excellent chest, ribbing and good length of keel. Moved with drive and purpose around the ring, never stopped wagging her tail – another I would have loved to take home. V. best of luck with this most promising young girl! BPB, BPIB against the beautiful puppy dog – won on showmanship today, then went onto win BPIS!

1st – Wistex Taking It Easy, 3yr old wild boar bitch, a real beauty and beautifully balanced. She has a lovely head, eye, mouth and expression. Lovely ear length and set. She’s a wonderful shape all throughout. She has a good length of neck flowing into her withers, excellent keel and excellent ribbing. Correct shoulder placement and front giving her reach. She is a good length, short loin and her croup gently slopes into her tail. She’s beautifully angulated front and rear. She’s very well-muscled all throughout and she moves exceptionally well. In profile she’s a picture. Today she demanded BB and outperformed the dog for BOB, congratulations!

Reserve Best of Breed - Wilkinson & Wakeman's Raajput's Canadian Winter with Wakywilks

Firstly, I must thank the committee of the Long Haired Dachshund Club for inviting me to judge at this relaxing and very well organised show. Thanks also to my efficient stewards who kept the ring flowing at all times and to the exhibitors who entered their dogs for my opinion. I was very pleased to have such a fabulous entry for a breed open show with unfortunately a few absentees. Show 1 - Smooth Haired My overall opinion of the smooth haired breed was they provided a good representation of the breed today. All had good mouths with clean teeth and generally the temperament was all good. I was delighted with my main winners and I was proud and thrilled to watch my BOB winning Reserve Best In Show. Minor Puppy Dog (0,0) No Entries Puppy Dog (1,0) 1 st Heels Daxanory Menacing Awesome. A red dog with a good head having a nice ear carriage, his neck flowing nicely into well laid back shoulders with good ribbing. Moved with drive. Best Puppy Dog. Junior Dog (1,0) 1 st Hinwood Longmel Courvoisier Truffle. Another nice red male dog with a good head and lovely front construction. Shoulders were good with correct ribbing and nice tight feet. Moved well. Post Graduate Dog (0,0) No entries Limit Dog (3,1) 1 st Starkey Carpaccio Magnum PI at Hamoura. Nice Black and Tan boy with a lovely head and eye, Nice deep chest into well laid back shoulders. Correct ribbing and lovely straight hocks. Moved around the ring with drive. Reserve Best Dog. 2 nd Hinwood Adnerb Sheer Nanagins at Longmel. Nice Black and Tan dog of similar quality to 1 and decision was very close as I liked them both. Nice head with good expression. Good flowing neck into correct shoulders, good ribbing and moved well. Open Dog (0,0) No entries. Veteran Dog (1,0) 1 st Hunt CH Lauralee Huckleberry Finn at Carpaccio JW. Really liked this dog. Good hound head with correct eye shape and expression. Lovely neck into perfect shoulders, lovely forechest with great ribbing. Feet was nice and tight, good angulated rear and good to see he moved with drive and purpose. I can see why this dog is a champion and oozed class. Superb specimen. Best Dog, Best of Breed and Reserve Best In Show 1. Minor Puppy Bitch (0,0) No Entries Puppy Bitch (1,0) 1 st Heels Daxanory Ravishing Rose. A lovely red bitch of finer type but still very nice. Good head and eye with lovely ear set. Good chest with lovely shoulders and well ribbed. Nice tight feet and moved with purpose. Best Puppy Bitch, Best Puppy in Breed and Reserve Best Bitch. Junior Bitch (1,1) Post Graduate Bitch (1,1) Limit Bitch (2,0) 1 st Wilkinson & Wakeham Raajput’s Canadian Winter with Wakywilks. Nice black and tan bitch with a lovely head, would prefer more chest but had a good neck flowing into nice shoulders with good ribbing. Moved with strength. Best Bitch & Best Opposite Sex. 2 nd Higgins Empetthounds Galatians to Leveliss. Chocolate and Tan 14 month old bitch. Very nice head with good ear set, nice chest with great shoulders, correct ribbing with good strong rear movement. Well presented. Both dogs in this class was of equal quality and just maturity was the difference as winner had a year on this bitch but liked her a lot too. Open Bitch (0,0) Veteran Bitch (0,0)

My overall opinion of the miniature smooth haired breed was they all had good mouths with only a few with dirty teeth and generally the temperament was all good. I just feel that although the dogs were all generally good, they could be presented better in the ring with more ringcraft training as the handling let them down on the day. Minor Puppy Dog (2,0) 1 st Kent Lokmadi Charles Rex. Nice red dog with a good head and eye shape. Correct ear set having a lovely forechest for such a young dog. Good shoulders with correct ribbing, nice tight feet and moved well with drive. 2 nd Mutton Grand Marnier I Bassi Della Bassa Del Montone NAF. Black and Tan youngster. Good hound head with nice expression, correct eye shape with good ear set. Good chest with correct shoulders giving a good strong topline. Moved with drive but needs to settle as it was only his 2nd show. Puppy Dog (3,1) 1 st Mason Teckeltown The Showman. A really lovely red puppy dog. He had a lovely head with a great expression, super long neck into well laid back shoulders. Correct ribbing, well angulated with lovely tight feet. Moved well with purpose. This kennel has produced some really well made, of the correct sized, miniature smooth dachshunds and you both should be very proud of what you breed. Best Puppy Dog. 2 nd Wilkinson & Wakeham Bronia Donatello for Wakywilks. Black and Tan dog with nice head and good ear set. Would prefer a longer muzzle and neck. Good shoulders with nice ribcage. He did move very well around the ring. Junior Dog (3,0) 1 st Corominas Scenterbay Rafael for Ruichango. A nice red dog with a good head, nice chest, tight elbows, good ribbing. Moved well and presented to perfection. Reserve Best Dog. 2 nd Mason Teckeltown Lord of the Rings. Another lovely dog in this class. Nice head with correct eye shape, good front with nice ribbing. Good strong rear end which helped him moved well around the ring. Just lost out on maturity to today’s winner. Post Graduate Dog (2,0) 1 st Reynolds Kleinstar Moongrazer. Smart red dog with a very nice head, lovely neck into nice shoulders, good forechest, tight elbows with good ribbing. Moved very well. 2 nd Wilkinson & Wakeham Bronia Donatello for Wakywilks. See critique under Puppy Dog above. Limit Dog (0,0) No Entries Open Dog (2,1) 1st Mason Teckeltown Suspicious Mind. What a cracker and well worth the wait. Such a super Black and Tan dog. Beautiful head, eye and ear carriage, lovely forechest, tight elbows and well laid back shoulders. Fantastic ribbing and strong hindquarters with nice tight feet. Moved with drive and purpose. Handled with perfection as with all the dogs this exhibitor enters the ring with. Best Dog & Best of Breed. Veteran Dog (1,0) 1 st Phillips Stargang High Hopes of Robinswood VW. A 10 year old red dog of good type, nice angles with a good topline. Moved well. Best Veteran. Minor Puppy Bitch (3,1) 1 st Small Glynlythe’s Heirloom. Very nice red puppy bitch having a lovely head and expression. Good length of neck, lovely chest with nice shoulders creating a level topline for one so young. Ribbing is correct and moved with drive. I really liked this puppy. Best Puppy Bitch, Best Puppy in Breed, Best Bitch & Best Opposite Sex. 2 nd Bosworth Cremadax Inspiration at Louromi. Had a nice head but would prefer more neck and chest. She was a little long in body for my liking, but she did move well around the ring. Puppy Bitch (7,3) 1 st Kent Lokmadi Don’t Bring Lulu. A really nice Black and Tan bitch. Lovely head with correct eye shape and ear set, lovely forechest and shoulders, tight elbows with nice tight feet and good ribbing. Good strong rear and moved well for such a young bitch. 2 nd Dunford Ruletadax Evie Antonia. Another nice Black and Tan bitch. Lovely head and front, nice tight feet with good ribbing. Moved well for such a young bitch. Junior Bitch (6,3) 1 st Small From Redteckel Story Maxim for Devondax. A lovely red bitch with a great head and neck, nice shoulders and correct ribbing. Good strong rear. Another quality dog from this kennel. 2 nd Mason Teckeltown The Show Girl. Nice red bitch with a lovely head and eye, good forechest with tight feet. Good ribcage and moved with power. Post Graduate Bitch (3,2) 1 st Reynolds Merryline Alexandra at Kleinstar. Red bitch with a nice head and forechest. Would prefer a longer neck but had good ribbing. Moved well and handled very well. Limit Bitch (2,0) 1 st Mason Marvale Crimson Sunbird at Teckeltown. A nice red bitch with a good head and correct ear set. Lovely almond shape eyes. Neck and shoulders correct with good amount of ribbing. Moved with strength. 2 nd Herald Winterfield June of Arabia. Black and Tan bitch with good head and eye. I would have preferred more chest. Tight feet and good amount of ribbing. Moved around the ring with purpose. Open Bitch (2,1) 1 st Hunt Mylforbe Red Velvet at Sunara. A nice red bitch of correct size with a good strong head, lovely expression with a good forechest. Nice ribbing and well angulated at the rear. Moved very well and with drive and purpose.
