NOVICE 0

POST GRADUATE 3 (1)

1st Westaway, Mrs P G Minard Whispering Angel At Treranch A striking, beautifully presented19-month-old red bitch. I loved her feminine head that was carried proudly. Her neck is gracefully arched and flows into a well-constructed front assembly, with a prominent breastbone that gives her the desired oval shape. She is sound in body, with a firm, level topline and good depth and spring to her ribs. She moved around the ring with long strides, maintaining her outline in profile, her long tail carried and set correctly. BOB

2nd Ham, Miss B A Ciselsig Hey There Delilah JW 20-month-old bitch. Long, tapering head of good proportions, she has dark eyes and well-set ears. Good length of neck into a well-placed scapula, her back is broad with a short, muscular loin. Slightly shorter coupled and not quite the topline of 1st, she looks to be standing a little bum high at present. She has width to her rear, with short, parallel hocks. Shown in soft, straight coat.

LIMIT 2 (1)

1st Westaway, Mrs P G Abbilis Maleficent At Treranch 6-year-old shaded red who was a little out of coat today. Feminine head of equal planes, her ears are well set and nicely carried. She is balanced in angulations front and rear, with good depth of chest and ample infill of fore chest. Her back is long and muscular with a moderate tuck up. A steady and happy mover around the ring.

OPEN 3 (1)

1st Brown, Mrs L M Devoncream Mystique Jewel 2 ¼ -year-old cream bitch. She has a typical outline with just the right height to length ratio. Pretty head shape with strength to her muzzle and strong dentition. Good length of neck into a decent front, she stands on strong bone although she tended to be a little uneven in front which ruined her outline. She has fair width to her rear with the correct turn of stifle.

2nd Norris, Mr D W Urishay Amandine At Criscan 4 ½-year-old black and tan. I think this young lady would look better carrying a little less substance. Typical head shape and carriage, with the darkest of eyes and pigmentation. Muscular neck into a fair front, she is balanced in angulations fore and aft and stands on decent bone although I would prefer her toes to be better arched. Shown is a soft and silky coat.

Thank you to the committee of the West of England Dachshund Association for the invitation to judge at your Limited show. You have a hard-working, welcoming committee, thank you for the wonderful homemade lunch – it was delicious and most appreciated. And finally thank you to Jack for being a most efficient steward, you kept the ring running smoothly.

LONG HAIRED DACHSHUND

PUPPY 0

JUNIOR 1

1st Paskins, Mr K S & Mrs S M Delsaux Life Goes On At Kindeace Lots to like about this 14-month-old shaded red; he is nicely proportioned and was presented in lovely coat and condition. Masculine head with dark almond shaped eyes and pigmentation, his ears are broad and set correctly. His strong, muscular neck flows into a well-positioned front assembly, his chest is full and has the desire oval shape. With plenty of ground clearance underneath him, this boy stands on quality bone with strong, close-knit feet. He moved around the ring with a free-flowing action, a promising youngster. RBOB

NOVICE 2

1st Vincent, Miss S L Swansford Padraciador At Gainscroft Immaculately presented 17-month-old black and tan. Stylish, masculine head of correct proportions, with a slightly arched muzzle and strength to his underjaw. This boy is balanced in angulations fore and aft, with ample depth and infill of fore chest. Broad and level in topline; his ribs extend well back with a good length of sternum and short, muscular loin. Shown in soft, straight coat, he looked a picture in profile.

2nd Curteis-Lateo, Mrs S Swansford Priyankadora Pretty 16-month-old shaded red who I think would look better carrying a little less weight. She has a good length of neck into a fair front assembly with her elbows fitting neatly by her side. Good depth and width of chest; her rear quarters are full and well rounded. Free moving in all directions although just a little close in rear. Beautifully presented.

POST GRADUATE 2

1st Paskins, Mr K S & Mrs S M Kindeace London’s Calling Well grown13-month-old shaded red. He is balanced in outline with the desired height to length ratio. He has an attractive, masculine head with dark, well-shaped eyes. Good length of neck into a nicely made front, I liked his depth of chest and spring of rib. His rear quarters are well made with width to his second thigh and firm, low set hocks. Sound mover in all directions.

2nd Eve, Mrs S C Sundayshill Savannah 3-year-old shaded red bitch. Attractive, feminine head that is refined with good ear set and dark, obliquely set eyes. Sturdy, firm body with notable depth of brisket and nice length of ribbing. She has a good length of leg which gives her plenty of ground clearance. Shown in lovely, soft silky coat. Just not as positive on the move as 1st.

LIMIT 3 (2)

1st Vincent, Miss S L Breezelyn A Long Story At Gainscroft Balanced 2-year-old black and tan bitch. This young lady has a nice outline with good body proportions. Typical head shape and carriage. Her clean, muscular neck fits smoothly into a well-constructed front with good return of upper arm. She is firm and level in topline with good depth of chest and length of sternum. Nicely handled and presented.

OPEN 4 (1)

1st Paskins, Mr K S & Mrs S M Kindeace Hit The Road Jack JW Quality, upstanding 2-year-old shaded red with elegant flowing lines. I loved his handsome, breed typical head that was perfectly proportioned; his dark eyes give him such a wonderful expression. His neck is clean and gracefully arched and flows smoothly into a super front assembly; his shoulder blades are long and set obliquely. His rear is broad and well-muscled with a lovely full rump and strong, parallel hocks. A top-draw hound, this boy impressed me on the move with his precise and accurate footfall. BOB & RBIS

2nd Sainsbury, Dr R & Mrs K Drymoor Marron Glace At Boscolla Lovely balanced outline on this 3-year-old shaded red bitch. Pretty, feminine head with a sweet expression. Good length of neck into a well-placed scapula. She is level in topline, her back is broad and well ribbed, and her loin is short and muscular. She stands on lovely bone and has the most wonderfully manicured nails. She held her topline on the move, her tail set and carried correctly.

PUPPY 2 (1)

1st Pughe & Fraser, H M & C Stanegate Sonja Well grown 7-month-old wild boar at her first show. Lovely head and expression, she has strength to her muzzle and correct dentition. Strong, clean neck into a well-made front, she stands with her elbows close to her brisket. She is level in topline, with good length of ribbing and broad loin. Shown in a good, harsh jacket, she just needs to strengthen in her movement, which I am sure she will. BP

JUNIOR 1

1st Akehurst, Mrs C Tendrow Down To The Wire At Bramdach Quality, first-class15-month-old wild boar male, he is an instant eye-catcher. I just loved the way he strutted around the ring – he is a real showman! Beautifully balanced head which has quality yet masculinity and a classic expression. His elegantly arched neck flows smoothly into a super front assembly, with correct return of upper arm; his prominent breastbone giving him the desired oval shape. His chest is deep and capacious allowing plenty of heart and lung room. He is level in topline, with width to his pelvis and correct tail set and carriage. Presented in a wonderful, harsh coat he powered around the ring driving from his well-muscled hindquarters. BOB & BIS

POST GRADUATE 2 (1)

1st Akehurst, Mrs C Tendrow Down To The Wire At Bramdach See 1st Junior

LIMIT 3 (2)

1st McCalmont, Mr D C & Mrs K D Covellyn’s Cecil At Silvae (Imp Che) Neat and shapely 18-month-old wild boar male, he is nicely balanced throughout. I loved his head, with dark eyes and super furnishings. His strong, muscular neck flows smoothly into a well-made front; his forelegs covering the lowest point of his keel. His breastbone is strong, with a well ribbed back and broad muscular loin. I liked his rear which is well built with the correct turn of stifle. He looked lovely in profile.

OPEN 5 (3)

1st McCalmont, Mr D C & Mrs K D Silvae Halmark Upstanding 2-year-old wild boar. I really liked this young bitch of super type – she is full of substance without being course. Classic head showing correct planes, with lovely dark eyes giving her the most appealing expression. Beautifully arched neck that flows into a good front with a prominent breastbone and tight elbows. Level in topline on the stack and on the move, with good length of ribbing and short muscular loin. Shown in a super harsh coat and condition, she covered the ground well using her well-muscled rear and strong hocks. RBOB

2nd Ellis, Mrs A Vixendax Venus Starlight 3-year-old wild boar bitch shown in a lovely harsh jacket. Pretty head with lovely dark eyes wonderful furnishings. She has a good length of neck into a decent lay of shoulder, though she is a little too wide in front. Nice depth of chest with her ribs extending well back, her loin is broad and well-muscled. She has just enough width to her rear and strong, parallel hocks. A happy, confident mover.

VETERAN 1

1st Effer, Mrs A H Greyhayne Hector 7-year-old wild boar male, who enjoyed his time in the ring. Masculine head that is nicely balanced through skull and foreface. Clean neck into a decent front, but I would prefer his ribcage to extend longer back as he is too long in the loin, this affected his outline and his movement. He stands on good bone with neat, well-padded feet. He has just enough width to his rear with parallel, low set hocks.
