Dachshund Club of Wales 2002

LONGHAIRED
In most
cases presentation and temperament was excellent. Tight well padded shaped feet
were much in evidence. I found a lot of short rib cages. Lack of pigmentation,
not only toe nails which I could overlook but when it is lacking around the eye
it gives a foreign expression. Quite a few came toward me with the left leg
toeing in. Size was mixed but more are now moving to a sensible weight.
MPD (1) 1 Furbers Dorysa Raise a Rumpus - Red with a nice head and dark eye, shoulders were OK but short second thigh made him run up. Hope he doesnt grow any more as he is already a big boy. Difficult to assess movement at this stage
PD 1 Coopers Darsoms Zuave at Merrygarth Elegant shaded red with correct flat coat. Looked good posed, moves true fore and aft, a shade upright in shoulder. Well handled.
JD 1 Burke & Manstons Bonavoir Cloneylogan Impressive Black and Tan in gleaming coat, just enough of it to see his correctly constructed body shape. Prominent forechest, well placed shoulders fitting into a level topline. Short hocks, which allowed him to stride out.. Plenty of bone without being cloddy, correct tight feet. Was pleased to award him his 1st CC. 2 Pages Chipperfield Brigadier Another pleasing exhibit who kept his shape on the move, had a lovely head and eye, well placed shoulders and level topline. 3 Wedges Dolans Cupid Arrow.
GD (1) 1 Metcalfes Metadale Matador Masculine red with good reach of neck and level topline Not making the most of himself which was a pity as he has a lot of good points.
PGD (8) 1 Garmans Albaney Black Buckanear Looked good posed, has a lovely head, correct dark eye, prominent forechest, kept his shape on the move. Tended to bounce instead of striding out but was one of the few who came toward me soundly. 2 Oxleys Larkhund Latest destroyer at Owlery Similar type to class winner moved with more drive but tended to toe in. 3 Chapmans Witchespell Warlord.
LD (7) 1 1 McNaughtons Elindean Othello of Cedavoch. Mature red, sensible size good in all departments. Tended to shrink into his shoulders making his neck look short which on examination is not the case. Moved with ease covering plenty of ground. 2 Burkes Bonavoir Seven Sisters rather reluctant to go with much enthusiasm on the move which spoiled his outline, pity as he looked so good stacked. 3 Jordan & Nightingales Rodima The Toff.
OD (5) 1 1 Roberts and Swanns Ch Swansford Lanador Well known Ch and father of my BOB difficult to fault. His quarters fore and aft are well constructed, keeps a good shape in profile but just lacked the freshness of the junior res. CC. 2 Cooper & Steadmans Darsoms Zante at Merrygarth Well presented red, masculine without being course. Used his hindquarters on the move, preferred the front of class winner.
MPB (2) 1 Oxleys Owlery Golden Splendour. Light red with lots to like, so feminine, good bone short hocks enough pigmentation, keeps her shape in profile, a very promising baby. 2 Furbers Dorysa Debutante. Much bigger red, attractive head. Erratic on the move, therefore difficult to assess.
PB (3) 1 Roberts and Swanns Rodima Gold Mist over Swansford. Eyecatching red with a feminine head on lengthy neck leading to correct shoulders and prominent forechest. Well ribbed back. Hindquarters were well constructed enabling her to move with style covering plenty of ground. I thought she was lovely. CC. BOB. Reserve BIS. BPIS at her first outing, congratulations.2 Clarkes Teklhaus Kruggerand Another quality puppy whose head is exquisite. correct front and forechest, level topline and well constructed hindquarters. Happy on the move. Needs to tighten up all over, when she does she will trouble the best. 3 Hughes Rodima Gold Edition
JB (9) 1 Mitchells Metadale Moment of Truth of Bronia. Ultra feminine bitch, correct size, dark pigmentation, Well angulated fore and aft, in immaculate order. 2 Crosss Bonavoir Singing the Blues at Loggetta Larger black and tan who looked correct from all angles, did not move with much enthusiasm. 3 Perrys Swansford Tinkadora with Fragglerock.
GB (4) 1 1 Metcalfes Metadale My Way. Red, with correct pigmentation, which gave her the class. Lengthy neck and topline, one of few with a decent length of second thigh. 2 Wedges Bonavoir Irish Mist at Dolans Pretty red, much the same type as class winner but not so positive in front.
PGB (4) 1 Lawrences Peverleigh Another Vision. Red, Feminine head with a dark eye. Taller type who moved out well, preferred her front construction. 2 Strachans Calderpark Dot Com. Red, preferred her hind construction, lower to ground with good bone, pigmentation could be darker 3 Wedges Frankanwen Sunflower at Dolans.
LB (8) 1 1 Oxleys Owlery Dakota. Mature red in good coat, glamorous ear fringes, not seen on many today. Won the class by being the soundest on the move. 2 Metcalfes Metadale made in Heaven. Very similar in type to class winner feminine head dark eye well constructed quarters. 3 Grimes Frankanwen Vosme Romanee via Mondricia.
OB (7) Best class
of the day for depth of quality and consistency of size. 1 Mitchells Bronia
Gold Trinket. Neat red, with correctly proportioned body. Well off for bone,
feminine head, and dark eye. Moved with enthusiasm, kept a good outline at all
times. Res. CC 2 Roberts & Swanns Ch Swansford Lucydora Red in lovely condition
and muscle tone which gave her 2nd on the day over 3rd who I have admired in the
past. Slightly larger type but still feminine in outlook, another who was sound
fore and aft and kept a good shape from all angles. 3 McNaughtons Ch Cedavoch
Castaspell.
