DARLINGTON 2002 Dachshund (Long Haired) Judge: Mr Derek Smith
VD. (1). 1. Atkin’s, Ch. Kantis Karamel-Kreme. 8 years clear red of quality. Has retained his lovely head and eye and beautiful ears. Still a super mover. In good body and coat and can show many how it all should be done. MPD. (2). 1. Liddle’s, Morali Bowmore. Two litter brothers both red first is well balanced dog who is pleasing to go over. Very nice type of head. Balanced outline. Sound front although could use tighter feet. Needs to firm up a little behind and handler can do a lot more for him. 2. Liddle’s, Morali Springbank. Very similar in type. This one has a little more neck. Good body and topline. Not the quarters of winne and turn’s his feet out in front. These could be tighter, also all over the place on the move. Both were shown in lovely condition. PD. (4). 1. Holt’s, Metadale Midnight Cowboy. Handsome b/t of quality. Beautiful head and eye on long crested neck. Gorgeous flat coat in the pink of condition. Oval front, lovely bone and feet. So good to go over being well ribbed up. Very strong in the rear and a good topline. Little proud of his tail and carrying far too much weight on the day. BPD. 2. Lawrence’s, Peverleigh Solo Vision. Also b/t. Not the head and eye of winner and not quite the neck. Very well made and very sound on the move. Although his quarters could be better angulated. Good coat but a little thin. 3. Bongiovanni’s, Merrygarth Greve de Lecq avec Ankors. PGD. (4). 1. Metcalfe’s, Metadale Matador. Quality shaded red. Very masculine outlook. Pleasing head and eye. Very good to go over and has excellent quarters. Keeps a good topline and looks the part going round. Would like better feet and he must learn to show himself off better. 2. Hale’s, Gle-Vah-Balachan. A size larger b/t. Quality head and eye. Very pleasing to go over and he is very sound. Carrying too much weight which affected his topline a little. Coat could be a little flatter and handler must learn to do more for him. 3. Strachan’s, Calderpark Limited Edition. LD. (5). 1. Lawrence’s, Peverleigh Mr Stripe. I personally didn’t care for this dogs head, eye or expression. Having said that the rest of him is lovely. Gorgeous on the table. Super front and feet. Strong, firm topline. Lovely quarters with short hocks. Super sound coming and going and excellent going round. 2. Oxley’s, Larkhund Latest Destroyer at Owlery. This b/t is so very pleasing in head and eye and has a lovely neck too. Very elegant, good front assembly and shown in gleaming condition. Very sound going and coming. A bit reluctant going round and a little square over the croup. 3. Wakley’s, Rosenket Royal York Sundown. OD. (5). 1. Mitchell and Hanney’s, Ch. Frankanwen Sundance to Bronia. Very well presented and shown sh/red of quality. Masculine in outline. Lovely head and eye. Sound front, good ribbing. Excellent quarters. Super neck and firm topline all covered in a correct flat gleaming coat. Very sound on the move. Liked him a lot. Won CC. 2. McFaul’s, Ch. Darsom’s, Zwaferson. Presented as we have come to expect from this exhibitor in immaculate condition. Not quite the head and eye of winner and a little more neck would enhance hid outline. Lovely bone and feet. Strong topline, good ribbing and excellent quarters. Very sound going and coming. Put up a good fight and won RCC. 3. McNaughton’s, Eldindean Othello of Cedavoch. MPB. (5). 1. Liddle’s, Morali Kinlaith. Quality little red who is so well balanced althorough. Lovely on the table. Good head, eye and neck. Very good body and ribbing. Good bone for size and lovely feet. On the move she is sound and keeps a good topline. Handler must learn to do more for her. 2. Plevin’s, Morali Caol Ila. This clear red sister was in lovely coat and condition and she is pleasing in the head and has super quarters. A size bigger than her sister and has a touch more neck and keeps a firm topline. However front and feet are not so good and would like stronger pigment. 3. Chapman’s, Melminds Melly Mel. PB. (4). 1. Mitchell’s, Darsoms Zophisticate of Bronia. This sh/red has a most appealing head and eye. Immaculate front and super topline and quarters. Good feet and very good pigmentation and is very well handled and shown. Has a good coat too. Very sound on the move. Can sometimes be a little careless with her tail and for absolute balance would prefer her a little shorter coupled. Thought provoking for Best Puppy against the b/t dog. She finally got the nod on showmanship. BP. 2. Metcalfe’s, Metadale Memories of You. Quality b/t, super head and eye. Lovely front and feet and a good neck. Very well ribbed and holds a firm topline. Shown in excellent coat. Just not the fall away or quarters of the winner. JB. (5). 1. Geeson’s, Abydachs Rock ‘n’ Roll Dream. This red won her place on the table being so good to go over. Lovely neck, firm topline balanced outline. Good front and rear and she is so very sound. Shown in lovely condition. Would like her more feminine in the head and better in eye. 2. Mitchell’s, Darsoms Zerenity at Bronia. B/t sister to puppy winner, not alike at all. Again very pleasing in head and very well made. Super feet, front and pigment. Very sound and in gleaming coat and condition. Like her sister a touch too long coupled and a shade more neck would enhance balance. 3. Atkins’, Kantis Kreme-Georgette. PGB. (9). 1. Warke’s, Darsoms Zantasia. Wow! What a show stopper. Gorgeous sh/red in immaculate condition. Every hair gleaming, a joy to go over on the table. Everything about her is first class. Superb head and eye. Longest of necks, oval front, superb ribbing. Excellent quarters. Gorgeous feet and pigment. On the move she just floats round with the smooth effortless gait that befits excellent construction. I just could not take my eyes off her. Won CC and BOB and later beguiled Zola Rawson too, to win a hotly contested Hound Group. Well done. I wish she was mine. 2. Metcalfe’s, Metadale my Way. So very pretty and so very feminine in every way. This light clear red has a quality head and good expression. Super forechest and is so pleasing to go over. Good quarters too. Very sound going and coming and keeps a firm topline. Not quite the impulsion going round and was badly out of coat on the day. 3. Lawrence’s, Peverliegh Follow the Vision. LB. (2). 1. Metcalfe’s, Metadal Mountain of Dreams. Quality red. So pleasing in head and eye, very feminine. Pleasing on the table and very sound quarters. Good forechest. Would just like tighter feet. Lovely going round. 2. Chapman’s, Melminds Melanee. This b/t has a lovely head and is very necky. Good front and topline. Well ribbed up and carrying a lovely jet black flat coat. Shade steep in croup and not the quarters of winner which tends to make her tummy tap going round. OB. (9). This was
a super class of quality bitches. 1. Mitchells’, Metadale Moment of Truth at
Bronia. This very pretty feminine sh/red is now a Ch. I understand. Not
surprised as she is lovely. Very well balanced in outline. Lovely head and eye
and shown in super condition. Very pleasing to go over being sound in every way
and very well made. On the move she is excellent coming and going and sound and
fluid going round. Keeping a good topline. Would just prefer a little more bone
and slightly tighter feet, but she is an excellent prospect and won a well
deserved Rcc. 2. McFaul’s, Eng/Ir Ch. Glasvey Lilac. This glorious coloured rich
red is very similar to the winner in most respects. Not quite the head and eye
but she is so well made. So sound and feminine and has the bone and feet I was
looking for. Good mover and keeps a firm topline. Again in immaculate condition.
