East of England 2002
Dachshund ( Long Haired)
Judge : D G Gilberthorpe
Overall impression of the exhibits was that the big coarse types, I’m pleased to say, seem to be on the wane. I was concerned, however, to find rather too many weak croups giving close and erratic hind actions. Fronts and shoulders were generally correct. Many good heads were spoilt by incorrect eye shape. Otherwise, the breed remains, in my eyes, charming and graceful.
PD (3). 1 Barrow’s Metadale Moondancer from Frankanwen. Promising, good masculine head, well laid shoulders, nicely sprung ribs. Sound movement with nice level back, a little proud of his tail as yet; 2 Bongiovanni’s Merrygarth Greve De Lecq Avec Ankors, Nice type with excellent shoulders and front assembly. Just preferred the hind quarters of 1.
JD (1). 1 Wedge’s Dolan Cupid Arrow. Stood alone but deserved his place. A lovely head and nice level back which he held during his sound movement, tail carriage a little high.
PGD (3). 1 Foxon’s Darsom’s Zmurf. All male with well laid shoulders, good feet, strong level back, moved with drive with sound hind action; 2 Gore’s Frankanwen Frascati. Nice b/t in good coat, a little heavy in shoulders, correct ribs and nice level back, preferred overall movement of 1.
LD (10). 1 Furneaux’s Voryns Fellini. Nice size and type, not overdone, correct front assembly and nice feet. Excellent rear angulation which gave sound even movement; 2 Burke’s Bonavoir Cloneylogan. Handsome b/t, lovely head, sound front and excellent op line, pity he wasn’t more composed on the move as he has a lot going for him; 3 Oxley’s Larkhund Latest Destroyer at Owlery.
OD (5). 1 Mitchell and Hanley’s Frankanwen Sundance to Bronia. A real chip off the old block. Super d with quality in all departments, so pleased to learn that this ticket made him up, BOB; 2 McFaul’s Ch Darsoms Zwagerson. Just loved the elegance, head carriage and his good length. Today preferred the driving movement of 1, RCC; 3 Swann and Robert’s Ch Swansford Lanador.
PB (5). 1 Mitchell’s Darsoms Zerenity at Bronia. B/t with sweetly feminine head, an excellent front assembly, good angulation, correct tail carriage. Liked her sound steady movement; 2 Jordan and Nightingale’s Rodima Sugar Candy. Liked her lovely feminine head, she heeds time of course but it looks to be all there for the future; 3 Cross’ Loggeta Macerina.
JB (7). 1 Clarke’s Tekalhaus Kruggerand. I was impressed by her balance and her wonderful driving sound movement. She must be correctly made to produce movement like this. I do hope she fulfils the promise from today’s showing, CC; 2 Warke’s Darsoms Zanatasia. She has elegance and promise. She needs to settle a little more but I liked her sound movement; 3 Oxley’s Owlery Golden Splendour.
PGB (4). 1 Cross’ Bonavoir Singing The Blues at Loggeta. Nicely balanced b/t with a lovely head, she has many breed qualities which she showed with her true movement; 2 Halsall’s Bronia Infanta with Rossdach. Feminine head with nice expression. She is in good coat and has a nice reach of neck. Her hind movement was a little close; 3 Cunningham’s Frankanwen Merlot.
LB (4). 1 Oxley’s Owlery Dakota. Full of quality, sound front and good feet. Strong level back, carried her rear end soundly; 2 Grimes’ Frankanwen Vosme Romanee Via Mondricia. Pretty b/t in good coat, soundly made in front with good ribs, she has elegance about her; 3 Chapman’s Melminds Melanee.
OB (7). 1 Warke’s
Ir Ch Glasvey Miranda. Just loved her elegance and head carriage, not over done,
good top line, sound front assemble and well presented. Had to give way to the
outstanding movement of the JB, RCC; 2 Burke’s Loggeta Laylanna with Bonavoir.
Super type spoilt by too much weight. I loved her sweet expressive head, with a
little less fat she will trouble the best; 3 Mitchell’s Metadale Moment Of Truth
at Bronia.
