LEEDS 2003 Dachshund (Long Haired) Judge: Mrs M Knowles
My thanks to the committee for asking me to judge Dachshunds at their show. It was quite some considerable time since I had judged the breed. I really did enjoy it, with the exception of about 4 exhibitors, they were all new to me but it was nice to meet these old friends afterwards. I must thank Mrs Stannard and her committee for looking after me so well after me bad fall, so it was with the help of pain killers I was able to carry on, hence my delay in submitting this report. As I ended up with cracked ribs and it has kept me very painfully out of commission for the past two weeks. The Long Haired Dachshunds are looking very healthy as I had some lovely dogs to go over. The only thing I don’t like is so much coat where it looks as if there is no body underneath and ou can’t see the hind action for coat. I must say thank you to you all for giving me the best entry of the year, it was very appreciated. PD. (5). 1. Boyle’s, Brianolf Hi Falutin at Zarcrest. Lovely puppy, good head with calf lick. Haven’t seen this on a Dachshund for many years and I must say it is very becoming on this fellow. Good neck into good shoulders. Nice coat and not overdone. Good quarters. Showing a nice waist. Super mover. Should have a bright future. If I was to be critical I would have liked a deeper colour. BP. 2. Oxley’s, Owlery Australord. Another lovely puppy. Good coat and colour. Good head and length of ears and good mover. A class of really nice puppies. 3. Chapman’s, Melminds Electrical Storm. JD. (2). 1. Leggett’s, Donnadach Prince Charming in Sonsrymes. B/t good head and nice neck into good lay back of shoulder. Well off for bone. Stood alone but well worthy of his place. PGD. (7). 1. Burke and Manston’s, Loggeta Intrepid from Bonavoir. Red correct size. Good head and eye. Really tight shoulders. Straight coat. Good mover to and fro. Really steps out and covers the ground. 2. Liddle’s, Morali. Red, correct size again. Good front, nice topline, good quarters and waist line. 3. Lawrence’s, Peverleigh Solo Vision. B/t. Good head and neck, topline ok. Coat good and straight. Sound mover. LD. (11). 1. Lawrence’s, Peverleigh Mr Stripe. Red. All the essentials are good. I noticed this is a new affix to me but this breeder seems to have got the right idea. RCC. Should have no trouble getting to the top. 2. Jordan and Nightingale’s, Danward Sullivan at Rodima. B/t. Nice size, one I have admired good coat and nice bone. Sound mover to and fro. 3. Metcalfe’s, Metadale Make my Day. Another really nice one. Lovely head, super front in fact a super class, they could all change places many times in the future. OD. (6). 1. McFaul’s, Ch/Ir Ch. Darsoms Zwagerson. I cannot add to what has already been said about this one. He gave me a bit of a shock on his first move but on the second time of asking he put it right. He has a super head and very arrogant. Moves with style at his best. He is a worthy Champion. CC and BOB. 2. Oxley’s, Larkund Latest Destroyer at Owlery. This one surprised me as when I have seen him before from the ringside he did nothing for me. He is a sound dog. Good size, good front and nice bone. Good mover. 3. Atkin’s, Ch. Kantis Komanchee. Another favourite of mine. Good quality and in super condition. Moves well and really keeps his topline. A great class and could change places any time. PB. (5). 1. Cross and Burke’s, Loggeta Chisuita. Red lovely size, coat straight and not overdone. Another quality puppy. Typical of the affix. 2. Atkin’s, Larkhund Quietly Kreme at Kantis. Red. The last time I was this one I didn’t like but it has completely altered. I liked it a lot now. Good head and eye. Nice coat. Moves well nice waist line. I hope she dosen’t grow any more. 3. Hayes’s, Rodima Dark Crystal Mit Dailhouse. JB. (2). 1. Leggett’s, Ranglewood Aralia of Sonsrymes. Red lovely size, good head and eye. Nice coat and front. Tight shoulders and good mover. 2. Garlick’s, Ranglewood Anise. Another nice one not coping as well on the move, apart from that the same remarks apply. PGB. (13). 1. Liddle’s, Morali Kinlaith. Red, good head, nice eye, nice length of ears. Good coat not overdone. Keeps topline on the move. 2. Lawrance’s, Peverleigh Another Vision. Very similar to first but the first was slightly better in head. 3. Kerry’s, Kireton Sylvia. Brindle. I really liked this one. Lovely head and eye. Super front, Good quarters but let down by her handler. LB. (9). 1. McNaughton’s, Cedavoch Sudden Impulse. Red and full of quality. Lovely head. Nice topline kept on the move. Metcalfe’s, Darsoms Zerenity at Bronia. OB. (6). 1.
Atkin’s, Kantis Koko-Chanel. B/t completely different type but the size I like.
He is a little narrow to the others but is completely balanced. Beautiful head

mover so arroagnt with it. CC. I am told it is her second I hope she gets her
third before long. 2. McFaul’s, Ch. Darsoms Zwagerbabe. Another super bitch.
Nice head again full of quality. Typical of this owners exhibits. Good coat and
straight. Nice topline. Good mover. Nice waist, good ribbing. 3. Metcalfe’s,

class of the day and all are worthy of top honours. Another day, another time.
Thank you all for such a super entry I really appreciated it. I hope you didn’t
think I didn’t give dso much time but I was in so much pain after my fall, but I
wouldn’t have done any different. |
