A very pleasing entry of 83 from 74 dogs and only 4 absentees, most unusual these days. I had quite a few overweight ones but this did not affect their movement. A few were moving rather close behind and standing cow-hocked. Outgoing temperaments and most appeared to enjoy themselves. My BOB went on to get 2nd in the Hound group, still obviously moving and showing with composure.
MPD (3) 1 and BPD, Oxley’s Owlery Valentine. 8 months b/t, good coat and length of body. Excellent quarters, low set hocks. Moved with quite a decent stride for a baby. 2 Sutton’s Damai Master Alex. 8 months red. Very attractive head and expression. Good length of body, clean coat and plenty of body and bone. Tending to ‘sink’ and not standing as well behind as the winner. Moved ok. 3 Alford and Worth’s Swansford Pukkador at Deeseedax.
PD (4) 1 Sutton’s Damai Master Benedict. B/T litter brother to 2nd in MPD. Good spring in his step, quality head and good bone, legs and feet. Lovely coat, firm topline and well conditioned. 2 Newport’s Rodima Welsh Wizard. 10 months b/t, not using his neck standing as well as the winner. Good bone, well coated and conditioned. Showed steadily. Moving a little close behind. 3 Jordan and Nightingale’s Swansford Gryffindor at Rodima.
JD (2) 1 McFaul’s Dachville Distant Dream. Just over a year. Nice for type and size. Pleasing head, intelligent expression. In hard condition, well muscled and a stylish showman and mover. Sympathetically handled. 2 D Master Alex.
PGD (7,1) 1 Clarke’s Tekalhaus Masterpiece Sh CM. 21 months shaded red. Arrogant showman who carried himself so well, holding his topline. Good length of head and a confident attitude. Prominent breastbone, well fitting coat. Good ribcage, well presented and handled. Very close contender for the Res CC, just a bit plump on the day. 2 Cooper and Steadman’s Blue Velvet by Merrygarth. 19 months b/t. Easy mover with plenty of drive. Another who held his topline well. Well conditioned. Got a bit bored standing. 3 Chapman’s Melminds Mastercopy.
LD (7,1) 1 Edwards and Pankhurst’s Neropa Ace of Spades at Danward. 3 years b/t with a good outline and proportions. Well balanced, long and low. Quality head, very good bone and a level topline. Well muscled quarters. Moved well. 2 Cooper and Steadman’s Alex’s Favourite with Merrygarth. Shaded red of nearly 3 years. Natural showman, attractive head and an alert expression. Happy and co-operative showman, moved well behind, a little close in front. 3 Negus’ Shardaroba Rigel by Tarramist.
OD (6,1) 1 CC and BOB, Mitchell’s Ch Bronia Monte Cristo. 2 years shaded red in tremendous form. Proud showman who swept around the ring as if he owned the place! Beautifully balanced, well ribbed up. Good bone, muscular neck, typical head and very good topline. Convincing winner and 2nd in the group. 2 and Res CC. Burke and Manston’s Loggeta Antrim Boy from Bonavoir. 2 and a half years b/t, clean and well conditioned. Lovely head, dark eyes and good bone and ribcage. Assertive showman who moved with a purpose, using his quarters. Good neckline, very fit. 3 McFaul’s Ch Ir Ch Darsom’s Zwagerson. Glamourous dog but on the day had such a lot od coat that it took away from his overall balance.
MPB (7,1) 1 Sutton’s Damai Miss Sophie. Litter sister to the two dogs in MPD and PD. Really good topline for her age. Pretty head, feminine expression and dark, knowing eyes. Low and level, coat shining with well being. Showed steadily, could do with a little more push behind. 2 Geeson’s Abydachs Hot Summer Nights. 7 months red. Confident puppy with a good backend, body and topline. Fluent mover behind but needs to tighten up in front action. 3 Garlick’s Ranglewood Evelyn.
PB (3) 1 and BP, Dare’s Bronia Stylistic to Darsoms. Nearly 12 months, good outline and proportions, a bit lively to start off with but gradually settled down to move and show properly. Excellent coat, body and condition. Well boned, dark intelligent eyes. Very well handled. 2 Metcalfe’s Metadale Maid from Michigan. 11 months. Very feminine looking bitch, pretty head. Good topline. Not very keen on this floor and could have been a happier showgirl. A bit loose in front movement. 3 Bradley’s Lafrowda Let’s Get Serious.
JB (4) 1 McFaul\s Dachville Perefect Blend. 12 months b/t, we met at the Houndshow in August where she was my BPIS. Has class and quality, very good head and expression. Nicely proportioned, firm body, topline and quarters. Well fitting coat, excellent presentation. Sound mover. 2 Cross’ Loggeta Spirit in the Sky. B/T of nearly 18 months and a quality youngster with an attractive head, shiny coat. Good bone, moved and showed well. Needs to go on a diet. 3 Mitchell’s Bronia Charisma.
PGB (14) All present! 1 Surrell’s Bokra Jazz. 19 months shaded red. Very shapely, best mover in this class. Feminine head and expression, ample bone, very good topline and quarters. Well handled and presented. A bit plump. 2 McNaughton’s Cedavoch Bewitched. 17 months, low and level with a pleasing head and a clean, well presented coat. Good overall proportions and topline. Not going quite as well as the winner. 3 Garlick’s Charmed Camellia at Ranglewood.
LB (9) 1 and Res CC, Mitchell’s Bronia Carmelita. Only 13 months and I liked this red very much for style, quality and soundness. Game and assertive and responded very well to her handler. Lovely outline, good bone and a typical head. Could do with a bit more feathering. Very well constructed and moved extremely well. 2 Boyle’s Frankanwen High Light on Zarcrest. 2 years red, eyecatching bitch bitch in excellent form. Firm, fit body, well muscled quarters. Alert and keen showgirl. Front movement not 100%, but went well behind. 3 Metcalfe’s Metadale Make It Happen.
OB (6) 1 and CC, Roberts’ Ch Swansford Vivadora. Won a strong class. 3 years, animated showgirl of good size and type. Full of character and really enjoyed showing herself off. Excellent mover with plenty of drive. Quality head, lovely eyes and expression. Held her topline on the move, well ribbed up. Good coat and condition. Asked for - and got - the CC. 2 Metcalfe’s Metadale My Way. 4 years, quality bitch of excellent type and proportions. Typical head, dark eyes and a very good topline standing. Moved well. Could just show with a bit more enthusiasm, well handled. 3 Geeson’s Ch Abydachs Give Me the Future.
