LONG HAIRED
I had a very nice entry of Long Haired Dachshunds to judge. As always, some classes had many who could have taken 1st place and it was splitting hairs to put them in order of my preference. Some classes were not so strong but I was very pleased with my final line-up of both dogs and bitches. PD (2) 1 Oxley’s Owlery Valentine. B/T with lovely head & eye. Good front construction. Tight well padded feet. Well angulated rear. Moved soundly with great attitude. 2 Wedge’s Damai Master Alex. Red with lots to like. Good head & eye. Well constructed body. Just preferred movement of winner. JD (5) 1 & Res CC McFaul’s Dachville Distant Dream. Super red dog of correct size. Excellent head, eyes & expression. Superb condition. Beautifully constructed. Moved soundly with great reach & drive. 2 Sutton’s Damai Master Benedict. Elegant B/T, larger size than winner but well constructed. Pleasing head & eye. Nice length of neck. Good forechest & ribbing. Moved soundly. 3 Halsall’s Brynalyn Noble Quest for Kiddles. ND (3) 1st O. Valentine. 2nd D Master Alex. 3rd B Noble Quest for K. PGD (5,1) Difficult decision between 1st & 2nd in this class. Two very different types. 1 Thompson’s Metadale Made To Order For Oleanca. Red Dog with lovely head & eye, good reach of neck. Well angulated fore and aft. A larger size than I like but his sound driving movement won him the class. 2 Chapman’s Melmind Master Copy. I very much liked the size and type of this B/T dog but he was carrying too much weight which detracted from his outline on the move & may have been the reason he didn’t move out with any enthusiasm. 3 Furneaux ‘s Cairo’s Astaire. LD (7,1) 1st Geeson’s Abydachs Oh What A Night JW. Shaded red dog of correct size. Quality head. Good forechest ribbing and quarters. Moved soundly keeping a super outline. 2nd Burke & Manston’s Loggeta Antrim Boy From Bonavoir. Bigger B/T dog. Elegant outline standing & moving. Preferred head & feet of winner. 3rd Clarke’s Tekalhaus Masterpiece SHCM. OD (5,1) 1st CC & BOB Metcalfe’s Ch Metadale Macquarie. Fantastic shaded red dog. Absolutely filled my eye from the moment he entered the ring. Masculine head with dark eyes. Excellent body construction with correct angulation fore & aft. Gleaming coat. Never put a foot wrong. He fits the standard so well. I was delighted to see him go RBIS. 2nd McFaul’s Ch Ir/Int Ch Darsoms Zwagerson. Lovely clear red boy. Very close decision. Excellent head, eye & neck. Well constructed body with good angulation both ends. Just preferred outline of winner on the move and in the challenge for RCC had to give way to the fluent movement of his son. 3rd Ch Bronia Monte Cristo. Impressive red dog. Very worthy Champion. Just a size larger than I like. MPB 1, Negus’s Tarramist Assignation. Everything right for age on this sweet, red, 6 months baby Showed and moved well. Promising. PB (7) 1st & Geeson’s Abydachs Hot Summer Nights. BPIB Light red bitch. Sweet head & expression. Elegant neck into well laid shoulders. Good front ribbing & quarters. Ideal size. Moved well keeping a good profile at all times. Should have a promising future. 2nd Oxley’s Owlery Hedi Lamar. Larger B/T bitch. Lots of quality here also. A feminine version of her brother Valentine and the same remarks apply. Good head, neck & length of body. Moved soundly on good legs and feet. Just preferred the profile movement of winner. 3rd Mitchell’s Bronia Huntress. JB (6,1) 1st & CC McFaul’s Dachville Perfect Blend. And she is! How could you know when you named her? Loved everything about her from her beautiful conical head & dark, oblique eye to the tip of her tail. Her construction is so good, she stands four square and movement is perfectly parallel. She moves with great reach and drive keeping a superb outline. With a little more coat she will be very hard to beat. 2nd Duchnesne’s Bonavoir Maid Of Honour At Scandell. B/T Bitch. Looked quite nice standing but couldn’t match 1st moving. 3rd Mitchell’s Bronia Charisma. NB (3) 1st O. Hedi Lamar. 2nd Oxley’s Owlery Simply The Best. B/T. Nice headed bitch. Good front construction. Moved OK. 3rd Sutton’s Damai Miss Sophie. PGB (6) 1st Surrell’s Bokra Jazz. Classy dark red bitch of ideal size. Refined head with lovely dark, well shaped eye. Elegant neck, compact well shaped body. Moved so soundly with proud head carriage. 2nd McNaughton’s Cevadoch Bewitched. Very nice red bitch. Differrent in type to 1st but could change places under another judge. Good head & eye. Rather longer and lower in body. Nice front & hammy quarters. Moved soundly but didn’t have the hind extension of winner which decided it for me. 3rd Edwards’s Amber Nectar At Danward. LB (6,1) Three lovely bitches headed this class 1st & Res CC Mitchell’s Bronia Carmelita. Very close up in challenge. This light red had a beautiful head & eye with good reach of neck. Good front construction, well ribbed body & well angulated quarters. Moved soundly with drive. 2nd Metcalfe’s Metadale Make It Happen. Another red bitch out of the top drawer. Splitting hairs here as similar remarks apply to construction. Just preferred the head and flatter coat of winner. 3rd Cross’s Loggeta Spirit In The Sky. OB (5,1) 1st Oxley’s Owlery Czarina. B/T bitch. Lacking coat which detracted from the picture. I preferred her in size to 2nd. Moved quite soundly. 2nd Thompson’s Metadale Memories Of You At Oleanca. Bigger B/T bitch. A little masculine for me. Well constructed. Sound mover. 3rd Metcalfe’s Metadale Mountain Of Dreams.
