LONG HAIRED
May I start by saying thank you to the President and committee of the North Eastern Dachshund Club for inviting me to award my first set of CCs. My main concerns for the breed in general is that whilst the dogs looked beautiful stacked many lacked rear propulsion and moved with a short choppy front movement, this combined with an almost uniform narrowness meant that some looked as though they were walking on a tightrope. Perhaps as breeders we need to look beyond our own small circles and find alternative stud dogs that will help to rectify the faults we currently have, as well as being strong minded enough to withstand the criticism of our peers when we do take a stand and do something different. Having stated my viewpoint may I say that both my Dog and Bitch CC winners and the reserve CC winners pleased me. VD/B (3,2a) 1 Metcalfe's Metadale Made in Heaven. 8 year old bitch of correct size and construction who could show some of the younger exhibits how to move. MPD (1) 1 Johnson's Bronia Prime Design at Africandawns. Roly poly puppy of good type with good conical head, well arched neck, adequate shoulders and ribbing, just needs time to co-ordinate his front and rear action. PD (1) 1 Clarke's Hilmar Velvet Harvest Gold. Mature puppy with a strong masculine head carried on a neck of good lengh, reasonable shoulders and prosternum. Good length of ribbing and level topline held on the move. Would prefer more width all through. Best Puppy. JD (2) 1 Dare's Bronia Classic Cool at Darsoms. Beautifully presented and handled dog which is maturing well. Correct conical shaped head carried on well arched neck. Good topline held on the move, I would prefer more layback of shoulders. Good hindquarters which he used to advantage on the move. 2 Little's Metadale Midnight Marauder at Lochurr. Nice type with good head, reasonable length of neck and good prosternum. Longer ribbing would improve his topline slightly lacking in hind angulation which affected his movement as did the fast pace at which his handler took him. PGD (2) 1 Metcalfe's Metadale Major Decision. Correctly sized dog with pleasing head and well proportioned neck, level topline held on the move good shoulders and front movement. Scored over 2 in angulation and movement. 2 Dunbar's Bronia Touchstone. Black and tan with lovely head and eye shape, taller built dog than 1and not the angulation which gave him a shorter choppy movement lacking in rear thrust and propulsion. LD (3) 1 Warren's Metadale Monte Carlo. 6 year old dog of correct size and type that showed the others in this class how to move. Correct head and eye with good neck leading to well placed shoulders, level topline and good hind quarters which he used well on the move, adequate width throughout and true parallel movement coming and going pushed hard for the RCC. 2 Johnson's Tiendawn Velvet Commander at Africandawns Taller rangier type than1 Well shaped masculine head carried on reachy neck, good shoulders and topline leading to good hindquarters Moment was good in profile but very narrow coming and going. 3 Little's Metadale Man of the World at Lochurr. OD (5,2a) 1 Clarke's CH Tekalhaus Masterpiece Sh CM. A very worthy champion beautifully presented and handled. Correctly shaped head and eye carried on a well arched neck which leads to correctly angulated shoulders Prominent prosternum and the only dog with correct width throughout. Good length of ribbing which maintained his level topline on the move. Flowing movement with correct stride in front and drive from his well angulated hindquarters, true parallel movement coming and going. Delighted to award him the CC and B.O.B. 2 Metcalfe's CH Metadale Macquarie Well presented champion of lovely size and type, not the head or width of 1 and moving rather narrow in front today for my preference, never the less a dog I admire and that has many qualities which would be of benefit to the breed. RCC. 3 Mitchell's CH Bronia Patriarch. MPB (3,1a) 1 Mitchell's Bronia By Design. Very much a baby. Good front angulation leading to good length of ribbing maintaining a level topline at all times well formed hindquarters which she used on the move very low to the ground. 2 Johnson's Bronia Design Flair at Africandawns [NAF.TAF] Litter sister to 1 and not as mature. Very similar attributes to her litter sister but not as together on the move. JB (3) 1 Dare's Fragglerock Rosy Martini at Darsoms, beautifully presented elegant bitch. Correctly constructed front assembly with an elegant head and eye carried on an arched neck leading to well laid shoulders. Good length of ribbing and short loin with level topline maintained on the move. Lovely outline in profile with straight parallel movement front and back RCC close up for CC. 2 Johnson's Brynalyn Bitter Sweet at Africandawns Nice type of bitch with an elegant head and neck leading to well placed shoulders, good length of ribbing and good topline held on the move. Well formed hindquarters, pleasing outline on the move but narrow through and would like more enthusiasm on the move. 3 Mitchell's Brynalyn Fancy Free at Imirika. NB (1) Mitchell's Bronia Classy Chassis at Imirika Shaded red with correctly shaped head and eye, reachy neck level topline held on the move, not fully co-operating with her handler today. LB (4,1a) 1 Metcalfe's Metadale Maid from Michigan Well made red with correct head and eye, well laid shoulders and good front leading to good length of ribbing and good hindquarters moved well in profile and true coming and going. 2 Mitchell's Bronia Playgirl Well constructed bitch of pleasing type. Good sound front with correctly placed shoulders and angulated Good length of ribbing and topline held on the move. Preferred the head and expression of 1. 3 McNaughton's Cedavoch Bewitched. OB (3,1a) 1 Mitchell's CH Bronia Pastiche Lovely bitch to go over. Elegant head with correctly shaped dark eye. Well arched neck with correctly angulated and laid shoulders. Good length of ribbing with a good top and underline well angulated hind quarters. Strides out well on the move both in profile and absolutely true coming and going CC Just thought the dog had the edge on the day for B.O.B. 2 Metcalfe's Metadale Make it Happen Sound bitch of nice size and type. Preferred the shoulders and elegance of 1.
