LONGHAIRED - DOGS

Thanks to the Longhaired Club for inviting me, a warm welcome on judging my first CCs, also to my really helpful stewards who kept the ring running smoothly, I really enjoyed going over some lovely dogs having admired them from the ringside. Things have changed a lot over the years since the early 70's when I began showing, oval fronts and barrel ribs were the norm, some are narrow all through now we are getting away from Gundog heads but some have gone the other way with almost Borzoi shape and losing the underjaw. Also hind action needs watching in some otherwise good exhibits and road work would improve feet and build tone on some. However my winners pleased me greatly, also some were on the thin side. It was a joy to judge the veterans who showed the youngsters a thing or two. I must add that several needed attention to the teeth as some were very dirty. MPD. (4) A trio of quality pups. 1. Dares', Darsons Zupremo. Roly Poly pup of 6 and a half months. Immature at the moment but feel he shows lots of promise. Liked his head and neck, plenty of substance. Good rear end moved well. 2. Booth and Elsley's, Darsons Fernando with Abbalongdat. Litter brother to winner. A little apprehensive on the day but will soon overcome that. Similar remarks apply. Not quite so forward but a soundly constructed pup and good head and eye. 3. Burke and Manston's, Bonavoir Solomon Seal. PD. (3). 1. Halsall's, Brynaluyn Count the Dream. S/r pup 10 months old. Soundly constructed. Masculine head, well angulated front and rear. Strong legs and feet. Ribbing well back. Moved with confidence. Shall watch his progress with interest. BPD and BPIB. 2. Rees's, Loxbar Master mercantor at Aquarelle. B/t 11 and a half months old. Super head and neck. In lovely coat. Well placed shoulders. Just preferred width and ribbing of winner. JD. (6). Good class. 1. Johnson's, Bronia Prime Design at Africandawn. Presents a pleasing picture. Handsome boy in a light red coat. Well made with plenty of width. Althrough prominent forechest, good ribbing. Short strong loin and powerful quarters. Moved out purposefully. Pleased to award him the CC. 2. Robert's, Bronia Major Blink Swansford. Another quality dog s/r up to size. Masculine head, good front assembly and ribbing. Level topline on the move. Good quarters used to advantage. Just preferred shoulder of winner and elegance. 3. Vines', Bokra Espionage. N. (1). 1. Halsall's, Brynaluyn Count the Dream. PGD. (6). 1. Eldridge and Swann's, Metadale Morgan Hoff. S/r dog. Would like shade finer head for me and longer ribbing, but he is a quality dog with lots to like. Balanced, good construction, short hocks and powerful rear. Moved out well. Very proud of himself, in great coat. 2. Fossett's, Melminds Method in Madness. Similar type to winner. Preferred his head. Good bone, legs and feet. Carried himself well. Coat tends to be a bit wavy. Handled well. LD. (6). 1. Edward and Pankhurst's, Harshwick Shades of Black at Danward. Quality b/t in lovely condition. Would like a finer head. Soundly constructed with good shoulders and ribbing well back. Had the best quarters of the day. Just preferred style of CC winner. 2. Clarke's, Hilmar Velvet Harvest Gold. S/r dog. Moved out well. Lots to like. He has fined the super hindquarters of winner. 3. Dares', Bronia Classic Cool at Darsoms. OD. (8). Good class. 1. Gleeson's, Ch. Abydachs Oh What a Night. S/r. Smaller type but neat package. He is very balanced. Lovely to go over. Worthy Champion. Good head and expression. Strides out so freely. Felt he just loses front a shade on the move. Handled to perfection to get the best out of him. RCC. 2. McFauls', Ch/Ir Ch Dachville Distant Dreams. I/r. Another quality boy with style and elegance in super coat. Shoulders and ribbing good. Moved out well keeping topline. Lost out to winner on head and would like a darker eye. 3. Mitchell's, Ch. Bronia Patriach. SpO B/T (3). 1. Edwards and Pankhurst's, Neropa Ace of Spades. Plenty of substance. Deep ribbing, level topline and sound strong hindquarters. Moved well fore and aft. Good muscle tone. 2. Geeson's, Abydachs One Night Stand. Litter mate to RCC winner. Another nice b/t of very good type. Lovely head, would like darker eye. Excellent ribbing. Short hocks. Moved out well. 3. Lawrence's, Ch. Peverleigh Solo Vision. SpO OTHER COLOUR (2). 1. Goodman's, Rokerpark Just William. L/r up to size. Good bone and substance. Positive hind movement. Covered ground well with good drive. 2. Fossetts', Melminds Method in Madness. V L/H (5). 1. Lawrence's, Peverleigh Follow the Vision. 9 years old b/t. Stood alone but a very worthy winner. Nice to go over. Feminine head, dark eye. Good neck, shoulders and front. Firm topline. Good ribbing. Shown in super coat and condition. Moved out well. Just liked overall outline and enthusiasm of the Miniature veteran. V M/L (8). Good class of oldies. 1. Ch/Ir Ch. Airwaves to Carlang via Djeata. 9 years od in cracking form. Beautiful head and eye. Super construction and lovely coat. Moved out so well to win BV. 2. Williamson's, Barkroyal Wyspering Willo. B/t 8 years old and not a grey hair in sight. Feminine lady. Lovely construction, good front and follow through. A close decision. 3. Duchesne Scvandells Ring Master.

LONG HAIRED - BITCHES

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at their championship show at the Sports Connexion at Ryton on Dunsmore. It was a pleasure, and I thoroughly enjoyed my day. I found that the breed was in a good state of health and that the size has been somewhat reduced from the big hulks that they had become to some very stylish exhibits, but there were still some very large exhibits. MP 1 Burke & Manston Bonavoir Classical t ouch. Black & Tan with a lovely conical shaped head nice dark eye, good size, level top line movement was ok but could do with more drive. P 1 Dare's Loxbar Ruby Muri Darsoms Lovley size super black & tan coat very feminine conical shaped head, with a nice dark eye, long neck well placed shoulders level top line kept whilst on the move well off for bone good rear quarters and although this gave plenty of drive, it was slightly erratic. Best puppy Bitch 2 Roberts Swansford Philkadora Red coated good size feminine head correct shoulder placement, level top line well off for bone but found it to be short in ribbing nice arched feet moved with drive. 3 Mitchells Bronia Devil Woman J 1 Negus'Tarramist Invocation Red coated good length, nice head and dark eye long neck into good shoulders, level top line good depth of front with the ribbing going far back well off for bone. Well balanced, moved with drive and elegance. 2 Johnsons' Bronia Design Flair at Africandawns a lot of the above comments apply to this exhit however she was shorter in length thus not as balance than 1 and did not have the drive or elegance. 3 Surrell's Bokra Elysee N 1 Roberts' Dream Design of Swansford Smaller type red coated nice head with dark eye, level top line well off for bone good spring of ribbing. Well balanced kept top line on move. Moved well. 2 Halls'Swansford Phoreverdora red coate, feminine head good reach of neck, level top line kept on the move needs more drive. PG 1 Metcalfe Metadale Majorette Lovely shape, and a nice size, red coat, well off for bone very feminine head, dark eye, good reach of neck into strong shoulders level top line, well balanced moved with style and plenty of drive. 2 Burke & Manstons'Bonavoir sterling silver Very similar to 1 nice size good length held top line on the move. Preferred the elegance of 1. 3 Mitchells'Bronia Classy Chassis at Imirika L This was the hardest class of the day. Very close decision 1 Boyle & BarrowZarcrest Special Effects for Frankanwen Correct size, black & tan coat, super feminine cone shaped head, dark eye, good reach of neck into well placed shoulders good length of ribbing going well back nice strong quarters which gave plenty of drive. Well balanced. Geesons' Many of the above attributes apply to this exhibit. She is a larger type than 1 and this was my reason for my placings. 3 Cook & Rhodes Bournder Royal Sapphire O 1 McFauls Ch Ir Ch Dachville Perfect Blend B/t coat Lovely size,Super feminine elegant head, dark eye, long reach of neck into well placed shoulders good spring of ribbing, reaching far back level top line good bone.Well balanced, Super quarters giving positive drive which looked excellent in profile. A very elegant bitch. C.C B.O.B and Best in Show. Congratulations. 2 Boyles' Zarcrest Oh Gosh I'm Posh Larger type than 1 elegant head good front well ribbed. Kept top line on the move, moved with drive 3Mitchells'Ch Bronia Carmelita SpO B/T B 1 Booth & Elsey Allablongdat Head Over Heels 2 Lawrences' Peverleigh follow the Vision 3 Dimons' Larine Truly Faye for Dimerlin SpO AOC 1 Metcalfes' Metadale Maid From Michigan 2 Mitchells' Brynalyn fancy Free at Imirika Jan Rowe Memorial Stakes 1 Geesons' Ch Abydachs Oh what A Night JW 2 Thomas' Shenalligh Sweet Shadow 3 Eldridge & Swann Metadale Morganhoff
