LONGHAIRED

I found some lovely dogs and was very contented with my final line-up in both sexes. In some classes little divided the winners, especially in bitches. In some cases the places were determined by extension in rear movement. Coats on the whole were well presented. Temperaments were good throughout. Most of my winners were bred and owned by long established kennels. Their typy dogs have been bred over many years. Newcomers forget that top breeders know how to pick a quality puppy (sometimes we make mistakes). Their dogs are trained to show off their best points. Presentation is very important, especially in the Longhaired varieties. I found a number of dirty teeth, especially canines with tartar halfway down from the root. No excuse. Neither is there any excuse for long nails. These spoil the shape of the foot, especially if not attended to when the snimal is a puppy. Heads have the same ugly fault as in the other varieties of Dachshund. So many are too broad in skull and short in muzzle, this type also seems to go with the large round eye which is a real turn off. Movement on the whole was sound enough. A few showing unsteady hind movement. Dogs have their off days and one or two were not interested in moving out with verve. I’m sure they will have a better day. Thank you for the lovely entry.

VD (1) 1 Cook &Rhodes’ Bournder Emerald Star. Seven and a half years, dark shaded red of good type, typical head, decent shoulders, carrying rather too much weight, sound mover. Best Veteran.

MPD(4, 2) 1 Chapman’s Melminds Mr Magoo. 8 months red, very much a baby and carrying his puppy fat as yet, lovely head and expression, decent length of neck and shoulder angulation, looked well on moving. Promising. 2 Brearley’s Metadale Major Impact On Zanadax. Very raw six and a half months lad. Red, carrying puppy fluff at the moment, lovely head, eye and expression, correct length of neck and shoulder angulation, too immature as yet to really criticise, kept a good topline standing and moving, hopefully in another month or two he will have matured into a dog his late breeder would be proud of.

PD
(1) 1 and Best DP, McNaughton’s Cedavoch Kaballah. Blk/tan boy, liked this one very much, wouldn’t wish for more at this age, as with most males not so mature in body and lost BP to his sister on this. Lovely type, well developed front, thick padded feet with short nails (many fail in this respect), lengthy neck leading into correct shoulders, moved with great style, must do well.

JD
(3, 1) 1 Dare’s Bronia Salvador At Darsoms. Very handsome red boy, takes your eye on entering the ring, masculine all through, correct head and eye, perhaps a shade strong at the moment but to be preferred to the ‘Stafford’ shaped heads and round eyes of a number of animals in all varieties of Dachshund. Well developed front and length of ribbing, stylish mover, in the challenge he decided to act like a typical teenager and be a fidget, sure to make up. 2 Chapman’s Melminds My Mate Marley. Sh red, good overall conformation, moves out well, not quite the underline of the winner, otherwise a pleasing exhibit. 3 Fossett’s Owlery Carlos At Brysdax.

PGD
(3, 1) 1 Dare &Cooper’s Darsoms Zamaras By Merrygarth. Beautiful black/tan in lovely coat, correct size, good bone, well angulated front and rear, keeps his shape at all times, perhaps a shade wide coming to me today, otherwise a lovely sound boy. 2 Swinton’s Grewelthorpe Graff. Sh red, this was a problem boy, as his handler needs to train him to relax more, he was strung up and lost his topline and was all over the place when moving. When asked to move him on a loose lead he looked much better. Not a lot wrong otherwise. Handsome head, good shoulders and nice bone.

LD
(5) 1 Mitchell’S Bronia Classic Legacy. RCC. A beautiful son on the late Conquistador who won CC and BOB under me quite a number of years ago. Loved everything about him. Drk/sh red in the usual pristine condition of this kennel, correct size, excellent shoulders and strong quarters, moved out soundly with style, should gain his crown. 2 Johnson’s Bronia Prime Design At Africadawns. Another typy red from this kennel, lots to like, correct size, good front and ribbing, sound enough on the move but not so stylish as the winner. 3 Dunbar’s Bronia Fernando. OD(2) 1 CC and BOB, Ch Ir Ch Owlery Valentine. Have always loved this lad. Made him BPIS at a breed show when very young, has fulfilled his promise and more. This was his tenth CC and he was shortlisted in the Group. Most glamorous blk/tan in pristine coat and condition, so sypy, lovely size, he has a head to die for and correct eye. This breeders dogs are always beautifully presented and also seem to have the correct shoulder angulation, no short upper arm here, good bone and thick correctly shaped feet, moves with such style and soundness, just lovely. 2 Hutton &Hutton’s Owlery Majestic Of Dachalune ShCM. Very handsome sh/red, shade longer than winner but very shapely all through, kept his outline standing and on the move, front movement ok but unsteady going away from me today.

MPB
(1) 1 Dunbar’s Bronia Cascade. Rich red baby of 8 months, wouldn’t wish to fault this roly poly baby, she is so immature as to be expected at this age, very pretty head and good eye, well developed front and ribbing, hammy quarters, kept her topline in profile, front movement ok, just needs to strengthen behind which I’m sure will come with maturity. Promising.

PB
(1) 1 and BP, McNaughton’s Cedavoch Sorceress. Really fell for this pretty red, sister to Best PD, more filled out in body than her brother, correct oval front again, excellent feet, well angulated front and rear, ribbing well carried back, such a happy temperament which showed on moving, very sound, must do well.

JB
(5) Nice class. 1 Chapman’s Darsoms Ziana At Melminds. 14 months, quality red lady, feminine head, good length of neck leading into decent shoulders, lovely size, looked well standing and moving. 2 Mitchell’s Bronia Enchantress. Very similar to winner as this kennel continues to breed quality typy animals, excellent front and hindquarters, moved with style, just needs a little more coat which should come with maturity, very nice bitch. 3 McNaughton’s Cedavoch Mystique.

PGB
(3) 1 Dare’s Darsoms Zienna. Quality animal from this long standing kennel, beautifully presented, nice size, conformation correct all through, strong quarters, good ribbing, moved soundly but did not seem to be putting all in today, not extending herself. Pity. 2 Cook &Rhodes’ Bournder Frankincense. Sh/red, well shaped bitch all through, satisfying to go over on the table, sound and kept a good topline on the move, her coat is not her fortune at the moment and needs some attention. 3 Cole’s Wharton A Scarlet Shine.

LB
(8, 1)Lovely bitches here. 1 and RCC, McNaughton’s Bronia Fascination. Yet another quality animal from the Bronia kennel, so typy and correct, little between one and two here, very free moving lady, excellent head piece and correct eye, prominent sternum, tight elbows, well cared for feet as all from this owner. 2 Mitchell’s Bronia Classy Chassis At Imirika. Red, very close to the winner and same remarks apply, both looked impressive moving and standing. The winner had a shade more length of neck, but Im nit picking. 3 Oxley’s Owlery Bootilicious.

OB
(5, 1) 1 and CC, Geeson’s Abydachs Hot Summer Nights. Red, just loved the overall type of this girl, so feminine, oozes quality and knows it, looking so snooty standing and moving, her movement is a joy to behold and has the desired extension in the rear, on moving away she shows her pads, the handler got the best out of her and she stood out for class, on examination everything flows, beautiful head and expression, excellent length of neck leading into correct shoulders. This was her third CC so makes her up, well deserved. In the BOBchallenge the dog just had that final finish in coat today but very closse. 2 Oxley’s Owlery Czarina. Another beautifully presented blk/tan from this kennel, such a lovely head type, correct all through on examination, kept a lovely outline on moving, a shade untidy in her rear action going away and couldn‘t match the extension of the winner, lovely bitch. 3 Cook &Rhodes’ Bournder Royal Sapphire.
