LONG HAIRED

Overall impressions - rather too up to size, in some cases accompanied by a rather overdone or even coarse head. Whilst there were not the really stuffy necks of truly upright shoulders, nor was there the ideal length and angulation of the upper arm. Presentation was good and the coats were in lovely condition – but as far as I am concerned more is not necessarily better and it seems to me there is tendency towards being overcoated. That said, it was a quality entry, on another day places could easily be changed. However, in deciding the challenges, my mind was made up and it was a conscious choice not to call in the ‘second to’.

PD
1 Chapman’s Melminds My Mate Marley, masculine, well proportioned and showing a good outline, needs time to come on and firm up.

JD
– little to choose between these 3 1Oxley’s Owlery The Fonz, pleasing outline, nicely put together, moved out with purpose, just preferred his neater size and more ‘refined’ head.Reserve Best Dog. 2 Oxley’s Owlery Lewis, another quality dog, well made, good moving. 3 Fossett’s Owlery Carlos at Brysdax

PGD
1Owlery Lewis, just pipped in Junior, but had the edge here. 2 Chapman’s Marshwick Moonlight Dram via Melminds, overall a pleasing dog, but he looked a little ‘stuffy’, and dropped away over croup. 3 Milne’s Rodima Mystic Knight
OD
1 Oxley’s Ch Owlery Valentine JW ShCM, the nearest today to what I was looking for. Nice size, conformation just about all there, good balanced outline, moved out well. Best Dog, BOB, shortlisted in the Group. 2 Roberts’ Ch Bronia Major Blink Swansford, very showy dog, quality, did not quite cover the ground today as effortlessly as 1, and his tail carriage spoilt outline on the move. 3 Chapman’s Melminds Method in Madness via Brysdax

PB
1 Chapman’s Darsoms Ziana at Melminds, just had the edge today between two nice puppies, very typy to size and shape, positive on the move, kept a good topline. Best Puppy 2 Mitchell’s Bronia Enchantress, not quite so accurate in front on the move, and the sloping topline as she dropped into her hind quarters on the stack just spoils the picture – I am sure she will learn to be upstanding.

JB
1 Callow’s Metadale Miranda, a really nice bitch who needs a little time yet. Good shape and make, steady mover, another who needs to be reminded to be upstanding. Res. Best Bitch 2 Fricker’s Seahaven Aspiring Annie, not quite the balance between front and rear assembly, nor the coat and finish.

PGB
1Fricker’s Village Storm, she had issues with being handled on the table, not a disqualifier in my opinion on the day, but ... nice enough, but not the hind angulation I am looking for.

OB
1Oxley’s Ir Ch Owlery Czarina, feminine, balanced, good shape and conformation. Moved out well, Best Bitch, very closely matched to Best Dog, but not quite the presence to deny him BOB.
