LONG HAIRED
I really enjoyed my day with good dogs, efficient stewards, a spacious ring with
a good surface, and good lighting, although the full length glass doors were a
little off-putting to some youngsters. I was pleasantly surprised with size,
very few really long, heavy types, but I did find some missing teeth and some
tail problems, these did not necessarily influence placings but need to be kept
in mind in breeding programmes. Very few dogs moved as freely behind as I would
like, and I found many to be upright in shoulder. Presentation was excellent,
especially teeth and feet, how do long-haired exhibitors keep nails so short?
MPD (3) Good class to start with, three very promising puppies. 1. Johnson’s
Africandawns Night Flash NAF, BPD, BPIB, shaded red with lovely head and
expression, super temperament, sound and active on move holding topline,
although I would like to see more hind extension, good ribbing, short coupled,
well off for bone, lovely feet, best size in this class, although I hope he does
not grow too much. 2. Geeson’s Abydachs Kicks Up A Storm, bigger shaded red,
lots to like and won on his free movement from. 3. Cook & Rhodes Abydachs Rides
The Storm to Bournder.
PD (3) 1. Marks’ Labbadax Anastazio, b/t, compact if rather narrow all through
at present, pleasing angulation front and rear, held overall shape on move
better than. 2. Johnson’s Africandawns Night Kisses, b/t, longer type, would
prefer more upper arm, moving wide in front today, but more positive behind
than. 3. Chapman’s Melminds His Masters Voice.
JD (3) 1. Mitchell’s Bronia Lotario, stood out for correct size, super
temperament, good head, eye, neck, shoulders and ribbing, not overlong in loin,
good hind angulation, held his excellent shape on the move and really went round
the ring as if he meant to get somewhere, sound and active, could not find
anything to beat him in the higher classes for size, type and freedom of
movement, very happy to award him CC and BOB. 2. Phillips’ Dachslur Diamond
Arabica, red with a tendency to roach his topline but preferred his size,
condition and front movement to. 3. McLennan’s Bronia Judas Kiss at Cheguevar.
PGD (3) 1. Pankhurst & Edwards’ Marshwick Cloudy Morning at Danward, unsure how
to describe colour, full of life with good front, reasonable ribbing and good
rear end, moved with rear extension, would tend to stand with sloping topline,
however. 2. Marks’ Brynalyn Royal Warrier via Labbadax, I really liked this
shaded red for size and type, super ribbing – however he lacked front and
definitely lacked “oomph” on the move. More compact and in better condition
than. 3. Chapman’s Melminds Mr Magoo.
LD (2) 1. Dare’s Darsoms Zaconic, this b/t is too big for me and very full
volumed in ribbing, failed in hind angulation, restricted hind movement. 2.
Marks’ Lyrenstan Zaragoza at Labbadax, much better for size though carrying too
much weight, moved well in profile although close in front, failed in
temperament today.
OD (7) Cracking class, thanks for bringing them, gave me quite a headache to
sort out. I would have preferred all to have a little more ground clearance. 1.
Johnson’s Ch Bronia Prime Design at Africandawns, red, coat tended to detract
from outline, liked his type and on balance had best overall construction in
class, loved his head and freedom of movement, great temperament, moved as if he
could go all day, especially good in front. In the challenge I preferred the
more compact outline and ground clearance of Junior Dog, but he won RCC in a
close decision over his young kennel mate on his hind movement. 2. Geeson’s Ch
Abydachs Oh What A Night JW, preferred his size and length but was disappointed
in front construction, moved more freely than. 3. Mitchell’s Ch Bronia Classic
Legacy.
MPB (2,1) 1. Marks’ Abbalongdat Ice Queen with Labbadax, very difficult for a
minor puppy to show well on her own, sweet red with a pleasing head and front,
good coat, a little long for me.
PB (6) Good class. First three were very close for type, size and movement, 4th
was a different type with very sound construction and movement but unfortunately
very unhappy on table today, which made my decision easier than it might have
been. 1. Dare’s Bronia Satinette from Darsoms, really liked this very sound,
compact feminine red bitch with lovely lines, sadly she decided in challenge and
when competing for BP that she no longer wanted to play, BPB and definitely one
for the future. 2. Johnson’s Africandawns Night Fire, lovely b/t, super head and
ribbing, slightly longer cast and not so together yet on move. 3. Nightingale’s
Franzirose Mystical Shadow at Rodima.
JB (4) Disappointing class for me as I loved the 4th placed bitch for size, type
and movement. Sadly she was very unhappy on the table, and unsettled afterwards.
Learnt afterwards she did not have her owner handling, do hope her temperament
improves as I thought her very promising, saying this it was a very even class,
any one could have won, bodes well for the future. 1. Mitchell’s Bronia Estee,
very sound b/t with excellent temperament, pleasing size, construction and
movement. 2. Garlick’s Ranglewood Heliotrope, red, did not like her head but
very sound and preferred her size to. 3. Plevin’s Dachville Black Diamond at
Rodima, giving away a lot in age in a tough class.
PGB (3) 1. Fricker’s Seahaven Aspiring Annie, b/t in good coat and best ribbing
of the day, just wished she moved with more verve. Could have better shoulder
placement which affected her front movement, but very good behind. 2. Mitchell’s
Bronia Charisma at Imirika, this red had too much coat for me but shown in very
hard condition and held her shape better on the move than. 3. Dimon’s Dimerlin
Isolde.
LB (4) 1. Chapmans’ Darsoms Ziana at Melminds. 2. Garlick’s Ranglewood Genista,
tough decision between first two, winner just looked more together on the move
although could use more hind drive, both were correct size, preferred coat of
winner although second had best ear fringing of the day, preferred winner’s
front construction, two very nice bitches. 3. Mitchell’s Bronia Classy Chassis
at Imirika.
OB (5,2) A super class of 3 lovely bitches, a joy to judge, could have given all
of them a CC. I liked the third’s type but she moved reluctantly in comparison
with the other two. 1. Mitchell’s Ch Bronia Pastiche, very feminine red, so
sound, free, elegant and balanced with lovely head and expression, good reach of
neck, good front and ribbing. Possibly not in her best coat today, but
excellent topline, super temperament, moved well in profile and to and fro,
really covering the ground, and today she moved with drive, CC. When it came to
BOB it was very close but I found the young dog slightly more compact and more
positive in hind movement going away. 2. Roberts’ Ch Swansford Burburydora, b/t,
lovely size and very sound but preferred winner’s ribbing and hind movement,
splitting hairs between all 3, RCC. 3. Dare’s Ch Darsoms Zienna.
