On the whole the condition and presentation of all the exhibits was excellent. There were the odd one or two that were still a little plump after the long winter. I was rather concerned about the heads especially in the males that are getting far too strong and not typical of a dachshund and more like an Irish Setter, what has happened to the conical shape required in the standard. Short Ribbiing is another point of concern which leads to weak hindquarters and close back action which needs to be watched. The other most apparent fault is ugly tail sets. The tail should be a continuation of the spine and not look as though it has been stuck on as an afterthought.
VETERAN DOG (6) 1. Metcalfe-Bilgin’s CH METADALE MAJOR DECISION I am sure I gave this dog his first CC as a youngster and at that time was impressed by his excellent shoulders and rear angulation. He has retained his quality, has a super topline on the move and drives out behind, in excellent condition. 2. Suttons DAMAI MASTER BENEDICT SHCM Smart B & T lovely outline but not the quarters of 1 3. Alford & Worths SWANSFORD PUKKADOR AT DEESEEDAX
SPEC PUPPY D 1. Dare & Guy’s MELMINDS ZITANIC AT DARSOMS a handsome youngster, a touch strong in head , lovely neck and shoulder running into good ribbing and consequently strong topline, balanced hindquarters which he uses well, would have preferred a neater tail set to complete the picture BP.2. Johnson ARFICANDAWNS LARRYS LEGACY red of nice type and good overall balance, proud head carriage and moves soundly beaten by 1 on length of rib.3.Fossett BRYSDAX SECOND TO NONE
Spec junior dog (4) Boyles ZARCREST HUGO BOSS an exhibit that I have always admired from the ringside and I was not disappointed when I went over him , masculine head, reachy neck, excellent front and shoulder assembly balanced hindquarters which he uses to the full, keeps a lovely outline on the move pity he was so out of coat. 2.Harrison & CoOk’s BRONIA KINGPIN soundly made, well put together, good Shoulder angles, and ribbing but not the width of front of the winner, still looks a raw youngster should mature nicely. 3. Wren’s ZARCREST CALVIN KLEIN BETWIXT THEBALCIOUS very much out of the same mould as the winner moves true coming and going has also a good side gait but would prefer shorter hocks, and neater tail set..
YEARLING DOG (8) 1. Johnson AFRICANDAWNS NIGHT HAWK s/red Lovely head and expression, sufficient neck going into well placed shoulders, good length of ribbing this exhibit excels in front , which won him the class, moves soundly keeping a lovely topline. Wish he had moved a little more enthusiastically in the challenge, liked him a lot. 2. Mitchells CH BRONIA LARENZO totally different in type to the winner being taller on the leg, consequently he has superb movement with a long relaxed free flowing stride. Just preferred the front of the winner. 3. Dare’s ZARCREST PACO RABANNE AT DARSOMS
POST GRADUATE DOG (11) 1. Huttons RIVER RUMPUS THROUGH DACHALUNE B&t with a classical shape lovely clean outline, Pleasing typical head, good reach of neck, well placed should and excellent rear angulation. This young man can really stride out and covers the ground. RCC 2.Cooper Hendren & Steadman DARSOM ZETHRO clear red much heavier in type than the winner but soundly made and moves true, well placed shoulder and follow through to balanced quarters not the pro sternum of 1.3. Metcalf Bilgin METADALE MAN OF DISTINCTION very sound a lot to like about him moves true coming and going.
LIMIT DOG (14) This was a difficult class with many variations of type and size but I felt my winner stood away from the rest. 1. Booth & Elsley ABBALONGDAT THE VISITOR Lovely head and eye, good reach of neck, excellent front and shoulder following through to a strong ribcage superb angulation in hindquarters. Thought he was a touch wide in front but on further examination it was the profuse amount of feathering that was deceiving. A really sound glamorous exhibit but a little on the large side for my own personal taste. 2. Hagan & Borsuk WHAT A CORKER AT FOLLYPAWS B&T has a lovely outline and can cover the ground well, soundly made but drops off a little over the croup when stacked. 3. Johnson AFRICANDAWNS RUMOUR RUMBLE another nice one from this kennel beautifully presented, moved well, but just preferred the forechest on the two above him.
OPEN DOG (8) (1abs) 1. Mitchells CH BRONIA LATARIO JW my notes simply say lovely clean outline , all of a piece, has balance and elegance and his movement is outstanding. His coat shone like glass and he really was in my opinion a wonderful representative of the breed to send through to the group CC & BOB 2. Dare’s CH BRONIA SALVADOR OF DARSOMS a lovely dog that teams with quality has all the essentials and can really move out. Would have preferred a little more refinement in head. 3. Geesons ABYDACH KICKS UP A STORM Lovely head good reach of neck, good ribbing would prefer more rear angulation . 4. Clarke’s AUST CH LAURIETON HIS MASTERS VOICE BY TEKALHAUS
GOOD CIT D (3) 1. Hutton’s RIVER RUMPUS 2. Huttons ROLO RASCAL OVER DACHALUNE SHCM S/red nicely balanced , little narrow in front, good bone & feet. 3. Rees PHAELAND NORTH LIGHT AT AQUARELLE Handsome dog, came from veteran class, totally different in type to 1 and 2 being taller on the leg.
VETERAN BITCH ( 6) What a super class and all presented in wonderful condition. !. Dare’s CH BRONIA PLAYGIRLWhat a lovely bitch, feminine head, good eye shape, lovely reach of neck going into excellent shoulders, sound front, nice tight elbows and good topline and balanced quarters. She has a lovely head carriage and is a real show off on the move keeping a lovely outline. Pressed hard for the CC just felt the younger bitch had a touch more bloom to her coat on the day. 2. Metclafe-Bilgin’s METADALE MAJORETTE another soundly made bitch, just preferred the shoulder of 1 3. Booth & Elsley CH ABBALONGDAT MS VOULEZ VOUS very much of the same type as the winner, again lovely outline and head carriage, felt she did not quite have the rear drive of the two above her.
SPEC PUPPY BITCH (6) (1abs) Burke & Manston BONAVOIR SERENITY red pleasing head and eye, good reach of neck ,sound front, nice tight elbows lovely ribbing and well angulated behind. She is best assessed on the move as she does not co-operate with her handler on the stack,, tends to sink, this is what lost her best puppy. 2. Burley BRONIA KRYSTAL ARBENNIK a close decision again very promising and soundly put together just preferred the rear angulation of the winner. 3. Garlick RANGLEWOOD MAY BLOSSOM Another extremely well made puppy bit carrying far too much weight.
SPEC JUNIOR BITCH (4) 1. Marks LABBADAX BELLADONNA A really lovely girl, had all the essentials I was looking for so elegant, super head, good length of neck excellent shoulder and front fabulous ribbing and moves true keeping a smart clean out line, presented to perfection has a lovely gleam to her coat CC. 2. Garlick’s RANGLEWOOD JUSTICA Another extremely sound bitch from this kennel that can really move, unfortunately like her kennel mate carrying too much weight but could not be denied her place on conformation. 3. Harris ZARCREST DEVIL WEARS PRADA Lovely shape and nice to go over, unfortunately right out of coat and felt that she moves too close behind.
YEARLING B (9) (2abs) Roberts SWANSFORD WHOOPYDORA Typical head of the correct proportions, lovely eye shape which goes hand in hand with lovely expression . clean strong reach of neck, well placed shoulder ,sound front, nice tight elbows and superb ribbing, well angulated quarters which she uses to the full on the move, super size with strong bone and lovely feet, again unfortunately out of coat. 2. Dare’s DARSOMS ZOLENE nice bitch, not the rear drive of the winner, both of these girls were a lovely size and not overdone. 3.Suttons LILLYMAI FLOW BY DAMAI b&t very soundly put together moves true coming and going just wish she moves with a little more verve.
POST GRAD BITCH (10) This was a quality class and I am sure the first three will change places many times. 1. Marks LABBADAX BLETILLA won her place on her clean reaching movement, has terrific rear drive. 2. Surrell’s BOKRA MASQUERADE s/red very elegant soundly made bitch, fell in love with her beautiful head, I would go so far as to say the best head of the day, keeps a lovely outline on the move but moves a touch close behind. 3. Chapmans MELMINDS MISS DIOR very much of the same type of the two above her , has the necessary feminine elegance, was beaten by the two above on rear angulation
LIMIT BITCH (10) 1. Mitchells BRONIA CALLISTA was impressed by the overall balance of this bitch, and she can really move out , would have preferred a little more refinement in head but here body is lovely with a good spring to the rib. 2. Dunbar & McNaughton BRONIA VELVETEEN b&t her name suits her, her coat was like glass, presentation excellent, has good fluid movement and keeps a lovely outline just preferred the spring of ribbing on the winner.3. Negus TARRAMIST A NEW HOPE another sound bitch just unfortunate to meet the two above. A lot to like about her.
OPEN BITCH (8) 1. Garlick CH RANGLEWOOD GENISTA What a lovely girl won this class on her sound confirmation, everything in the right place so correct . Fabulous rear end which she uses to the full a little on the plump side which unfortunately is what eliminated her for top honors. 2. Mitchells CH BRONIA AMERICAN LIBERTY AT IMIRIKA I thought she look very plain and ordinary but her conformation is so sound could not be denied her place here. Just needed a touch more coat to complete the picture, a very worthy champion. 3. Roberts CH SWANSFORD BURBURYDORA b&t another one of the correct size and overall balance, felt she just drops off a little over the croup when standing. Moves true keeping a good outline.
GOOD CIT B (5) Eve’s DACHSLUR MAIRI MY DREAM a well balanced bitch with a lovely head, touch on the large size for my personal preference. 2. Eve’s DACHSLUR DIAMOND FANCY FREE AT SUNDAYSHILL balanced but not the hind quarters of her kennel mate. 3. Wilson’s ROGERMARDAX LADY WILLOW nice size and type, balanced throughout, would prefer tighter feet.
