PD (1) 1 Mitchell’s Bronia Mr Pepys, 11 months, dogs of this quality only cross your path as a breeder once or twice in a lifetime, electrifying combination of type, conformation & that indefinable quality that raises the stakes to new heights, everything about him is so secure & in the right place, masculine, arrogant head & expression, good neck, glorious front assembly, good rib & clearance, hammy quarters, beautiful coat shining with condition, so correct in his proportions, long, free strides. BD, BOB & BP. JD (2) 1 Horns’ Darsoms Zotis, 14 months, super type, combining masculinity with quality, conical head, good eye, strong muzzle, well filled front, good bone & muscle, well ribbed up, rather lazy today so not always secure in topline & not driving from the rear, we all have off days! PGD (2) 1 Horns’ Africandawns Night Willow, not so well angulated & rather loose in front, nonetheless moved out with purpose & strong rear, prefer stronger muzzle, good proportions, ribbed-up & in good nick. OD (2) 1 Boyles’ Ch Zarcrest Hugo Boss, yearling of utmost quality & how lucky was I to have the opportunity to get ‘hands-on’ both him & Mr Pepys, but there’s no point in pretending they are alike or that the only difference is maturity, the head type differs as he is finer muzzled, the body proportions differ as he is longer cast, their attitude is different with Mr Pepys exuding youthful ‘defiance’, great skull & eye, lovely neck, backline & ribbing to give such clean bodylines, moved true & with style, immaculately turned out, it’s a matter of interpretation & he did get the consolation prize of winning the Champion Stakes overall under no less a Dachshund ‘great’ than Zena Thorn-Andrews, subsequently he has taken the Group at Blackpool on the same occasion as Mr Pepys took the Puppy Group, under different judges, Point taken? RBD.
PB (0). JB (2) 1 Mitchell’s Bronia Diorella, 12 months, looks a little more exaggerated in type until maturity brings her together, very feminine, outstanding both in forechest & quarters. Prefer more ribbed back. Great bone, balanced angulation, carries herself well. BB. PGB (2) 1 Bradley’s Marshwick Star Dancer, yearling b/t, rather heavily built, excellent head & muzzle, high set ears, good bone, ribbed-up, well filled front but weak in pastern, good backline, excellent quarters. RBB. OB (4) A.
