Quite a challenge as I found the breed does seem to be changing. The strength in muzzle, with the slight roman nose, the clean not over wide skull and the medium sized dark almond shaped eyes are not too common. I also found a more than comfortable number which have a too short in length ribcage and the overall length of body comes from a much too long loin. That air of quality and with a degree of elegance that I seek in the breed was completely evidenced in my BOB winner.
PD (3) All reds. 1 & BP Johnson's Africandawns Night Trooper for me he had the best headpiece, length, fractionally arched, clean in cheek, good length in muzzle, lovely eyes and ears combining to give such a good expression. His neck has length and it carries the head proudly. He is well ribbed, is short in loin and level in back. Well angulated he was the soundest moving in this class, so positive and with attitude. 2 Paskins' Cedavoch It's Taboo at Kindeace this chap moves out well but is a shade long cast for me. I liked his head proportions, not quite the lovely eye of the winner but he has a super neck, firm in backline and he is so well angulated both ends. Glorious coat and he moves out soundly enough. 3 Metcalfe-Bilgin's Metadale Monterey Jack
JD (2/1) Unfortunately the other entrant here had to be withdrawn as he stepped on something half way round the ring and it was clearly hurting him. A great shame. 1 Hutton & Hutton's Abbilis Theoden by Dachalune this b/t is all male in size, weight of bone, spring of rib and musculature. Head well balanced, very good ears and a long, nicely arched neck. For me he could be shorter coupled to advantage. However, he moved out soundly.
PGD (2/1) 1 Rodrigues' Darsoms Zudexta B/t with a distinct look of being a quality example of the breed. So shapely which is evidenced by his correct construction. His head is clean cheeked, decent length and strength in muzzle and really good eyes for size, shape and colour. Shown in super bloom, he just seemed a bit out of his comfort zone and never really gave of his best. He needs to relax a bit if he is to progress further!
LD (2) 1 Negus' Tarramist Iron Man 2 Chapman's Melminds Zsylvester two shaded reds. The winner was that fraction cleaner in backskull for me and had a slight advantage in layback in shoulder. Other than that they were so very similar in size, length/height proportions, both in good coat, with well toned muscular hindquarters and they matched each other in profile action. I thought Iron Man just had the more positive front when coming towards me.
OD (5) 1 & CC Dare's Ch Swansford Lionellador Darsoms in truth I would like a slightly leaner headpiece, but behind the ears he is outstanding. What a shape!! Long arched neck, well laid shoulders, great forechest, the firmest of backs. that hint of a rise over the loin and the those powerful hindquarters. Immaculate in coat, he moved around the ring with the balance of a well honed athlete and ran out a well deserved CC winner. 2 & Res CC Geeson's Abydachs Seize the Night another red and I felt he had the edge in head for me. Beautiful eyes and expression, ample neck, well sprung ribs and fairly short loin. Not quite in the bloom of the winner and whilst he is sound moving in profile and I felt that the winner edged the top award with his exceptional balanced outline as he went around the ring so smoothly showing much reach and drive. But ceretainly a worthy Ch.3 Bennett's Shardoba's Country File
VD (3) 1 Mitchell's Ch Bronia Lotario JW I have long admired this classic dog and he has had so many great wins. Whilst you cannot change his virtues, which are many, I just felt that today he was between coats and seemed to have be a bit light in bodyweight compared to when I last judged him. But he is undoubtedly one of the outstanding dogs of his era. Did not return to compete for BV as his handler was engaged elsewhere. 2 Cook & Rhodes Abydachs Rides the Store To Bournder another charmer in pristine coat and body condition. I loved his expression, full of quality, all male yet retaining refinement. Heavier all through than the winner, he is sound moving and was a pleasure to judge. 3 Hutton & Hutton's Ch River Trumpus Through Dachalune ShCM
PB (4) 1 McNaughton's Cedavoch Sweetest Taboo very promising shaded red of first class type, make and shape. Long head, clean cheeked, lovely eye shape and colour, long neck and so well bodied. Did well here but when moving in the challenge for BP she was wayward, to say the least, which made my choice that much easier! 2 Paskin's Kindeace Scarlett O'Hara this light red is not so forward in development of the winner and was less settled when moving but she was enjoying her day out! In lovely coat and gave glimpses of being sound in action. Could finish very well. 3 Lawrence's Peverleigh Autuminal Rose.
JB (2) 1 Cross's Glasvey Double Trouble for Loggeta this is a very good quality type of bitch but she is just a little tense on the table and that was reflected in her expression. Once on the ground and relaxing she is shapely, long in rib, short in loin, well angulated hindquarters and an excellent thorax. Her coat condition was beautiful, I loved her size and feel sure she will have better days. 2 Chapman's Malminds Marina Diamonds this one cover lots of ground on the move. Good size, well boned, enough neck, shortish loin helps her balance and in profile she retains her shape whilst showing good hock use. Hder head planes are good but not quite the lovely eye of the winner.
PGB (5/2) 1 Negus' Dachslur Diamond Desire At Tarramist nice b/t of good make and shape, She has good angulation both ends, enough neck, firm topline and very good feet. Her head handles well, the ears frame her face well and she has a good muzzle finish. At her best on the move. 2 Garlick's Ranglewood Trick Or Treat this bitch was that shade finer all through than the winner and I would like just that shade more substance all through. The proportions are beautiful, the head and expression so satisfying, her jacket excellent and she moves around the ring so well. 3 Metcalfe-Bilgin's Metadale Marcella.
LB (4/1) 1 Chapman's Malwinds Maleficent shaded red, pleasing head, not quite the eyes and expression I like, but the basic shape and construction pleased and her confident, purposeful action won the day. 2 Geeson's Abydachs Kumala just 17 months and slightly worried by the conditions and surroundings and I am sure she will look better on other days. She is well constructed, her head handles well and she was spotless in jacket. Not nearly so settled and even stepping as the winner which cost her the red card. 3 Paskin's Territoriya Lubvi Vesna at Kindeace (Imp)
OD(7/1) 1 CC & BOB Dare's Darsoms Zeunice simply delightful in every way. For me ticks most of the boxes, so beautifully constructed, one of the best heads and expressions I can recall, almost classic and the expression is a joy. Her proportions, length of rib, retaining a fairly compact shape, that regal gaze and then the smooth, even striding side gait were the icing in the cake. Her 2nd CC and in this form her 3rd can't be far away. 2 & Res CC McNaughton's Ch Cedavoch Circe such a worthy Ch. and a delight to handle on the table. She was a bit of a madam on the move and whilst Zeunice gave a gold medal winning performance Circe decided to have fun and pull away at times when moving. But quality cannot be ignored and despite her best efforts I felt heer sheer quality had to be recognised, 3 Roberts' Ch Swansford Gemmadora.
VB (1) 1 & BV Paskins' Ch Abydachs Summer Dream at Kindeace ShCM quality red, in superb coat and condition, looking much younger than her years and could show many of the younger exhibits just smooth striding a good dachshund can be. Fit as a flea and so obviously enjoying her day out.
