Thank you to the Standard Long exhibitors for a quality entry, there were some lovely dogs for me to judge and as always I wish I had more CC’s to award. I would also like to thank the East of England committee for asking me to judge, however I have to say that I was disappointed with the ring. The ground was uneven and the grass was so long that even the standards were struggling to move well which meant that some dogs coped better than others which could be frustrating when trying to assess the dog’s movement. Fortunately for the most part the more mature dogs coped a little better with the ground and I loved my winners which I felt covered the ground well and were beautifully made.

Two lovely youngsters, 1 just moved better on the day and was more settled.
1st: ROBERTS’ SWANSFORD GABRIELDOR – loved this shaded red boy. Very much a baby but very eye catching and stylish. Lovely head and correct eye, good ears, nice length of neck set into well placed shoulders and good return of upper arm. Lovely chunky hindquarters with good hind angulation which he used on the move displaying good reach and drive. Definitely one to watch for the future. BPIB
2ND: HARRIS & MCLACHLAN’S ZARCREST HUW GRANT – lovely chunky puppy with the best of heads and excellent forehand. Super angulation front and back. Just a little unsettled on the move.

1ST: DARE’S LARKHUND BLACK PANTHER DARSOMS (IKC) – b&t dog who was on the big side but very stylish and moved well, covering the ground with ease and keeping a firm topline throughout. Nice head and eye, and lovely angles front and back.

1ST: MARKS’ LABBADAX LATIMER KANSAS – really liked this red dog. He has a lovely outline both standing and moving, covering the ground well with good reach and drive, keeping a good topline and holding himself well. Quite a big dog, but still elegant, had adequate ribbing, nice head and lovely eye shape, and was presented well.
2ND: JOHNSON & CROSS’ AFRICANDAWNS MYLES LONG – well constructed b&t dog, didn’t have the elegance of 1 but was nice to go over with large prominent forechest, good angles, and tight elbows.
GD (1/0)
1ST: BRUZ’S YASNYI IZ STRANI GREZ GRANDVITAL – b&t dog who was entered in a few classes and he seemed to settle on the move more as the day went on. Quite a small dog who didn’t quite have the full coat required on the day. Nice head shape, good dark almond shaped eye, prominent forechest and well angulated hindquarters.
PGD (3/0)
1ST: JOHNSON & CROSS’ AFRICANDAWNS NIGHT TROOPER – shaded red dog with a lovely head, and who easily won this class on his movement. He covered the ground well, being of a taller type, moving with both reach and drive and keeping a good topline. A bit too tall and short for me, but this was his advantage on the long grass on the day.
2ND: BRUZ’S YASNYI IZ STRANI GREZ GRANDVITAL
3RD: DIMON’S LABBADAX INSPIRATION FOR DIMERLIN
LD (5/0)
1ST: METCALFE-BILGIN’S METADALE MONTERAY JACK – elegant shaded red dog, a bit on the feminine side but a nice size. Pretty head with lovely dark eyes of correct shape, well constructed forehand with prominent forechest, good shoulders, and tight feet. Moved out really well keeping a lovely outline and holding a good topline.
2ND: MARKS’ LABBADAX LEWISVILLE TEXAS – close up to 1 though of a different make and shape, quite a bit bigger and not as clean around the front which meant he just wasn’t quite as flowing as 1, but looked beautiful stacked up and was nice to go over.
3RD: DUCHESNE’S DARSOMS ZYJOSH OF SCANDELL
OD (6/0)
A class full of top quality males, I really had to split hairs between them and am sure they could swap places on a different day.
1ST: DARE’S DARSOMS ZOCRATEES – totally fell in love with this dog. Has everything in the right place and of the right proportions, not overdone in anyway but still looks stylish and elegant without losing any masculinity. Totally correct in proportions so that even on the slightly longer grass he covered the ground with ease looking super in profile with good reach in the front and plenty of rear extension. Nice to go over too, with a masculine head, correct eye, muscular slightly arched neck which gave him added elegance which was set into well placed shoulders, good forechest, lovely tight feet and tight elbows. Well sprung ribbing giving plenty of heart room, strong short loin, well muscled hind quarters with good bend of stifle. Pleased to award him CC & BoB, I’m sure his 3rd won’t be far behind.
2ND: HARRIS’ ZARCREST GEORGE CLOONEY – another beautiful dog who was presented in tip top condition with a gleaming coat and was close up to 1. Nice masculine head, beautiful eye shape and kind expression, lovely length of neck and the best of forechests, well laid back shoulder, firm topline, hammy hindquarters with super hind angulation. Slightly longer and lower to the ground than 1 which meant he meant he looked fabulous stood and was super elegant but on the day didn’t cover the ground quite as well as 1. RCC.
3RD: MITCHELL’S CH BRONIA TRUE LEGACY
VD (3/0)
1ST: ROBERTS’ CH SWANSFORD WARRADOR – a truly super dog for his age who was still in the running when it came to the top awards. He has fantastic, powerful movement, really using his strong hindquarters to propel himself around the ring without any effort. A fabulous dog who is a true testament to his owner. BV.
2ND: COOK & RHODES’ ABYDACHS RIDES THE STORM TO BOURNDER – another dog who was exceptional for his age. Very stylish dog, who also covered the ground well and was a lovely make and shape. Unlucky to meet 1 who was on top form.
3RD: BORSUK’S IR CH BADAMTAM’S VIA BALTICA AT FOLLYPAWS SHCM (IMP FIN)
SPD (1/0)
1ST: BRUZ’S YASNYI IZ STRANI GREZ GRANDVITAL
MPB (2/0)
1ST: BOYLE’S ZARCREST ANGELINA JOLIE – I adored this puppy bitch, if she had been more settled I would have considered her for the top awards. Really was a shame that she wasn’t happy on the day, and I hope that this will come for her because I’m sure she will mature into a beautiful bitch. Oozes type and elegance, gorgeous head which was feminine and with a lovely dark kind eye, strong lengthy neck into well placed shoulders, tight elbows, prominent forechest, chunky feet, well sprung ribbing, hammy hindquarters and good turn of stifle. Had to give the dog BPIB on confidence and he was a worthy winner, but she’d be the one I’d take home.
2ND: WEDGE’S DANTON FIRE DANCER AT DOLANS – pretty red bitch who had much more confidence than 1 but not quite the outline to match her. Bit taller so covered the long grass well, beautiful feminine head with good length of neck, prominent forechest and well laid back ribbing.

1ST: MILLER & RYAN’S BRONIA FINAL FANTASY AT CAVALLIBROOK (AI) – I really liked this bitch, a bit short on coat though I’m sure this will come with age, but super pretty and elegant. Loved the way she moved out holding a lovely outline, really driving out and covering ground without effort. She is also lovely to go over with everything in the right place. Think she could be one to watch as she matures.
2ND: JOHNSON & CROSS’ WARDAX ANGELICA – close up to 1, though a different type and being lower to ground meant in the showground conditions this was a disadvantage as she was a bit less graceful on the move compared to 1. I liked her a lot though, very pretty head, nice and chunky with lovely hammy hindquarters and good angles front and back and fabulous forechest.
3RD: CHEESE’S AFRICANDAWNS HEIDI CLARE AT SUECASEUS
YB (2/1)
1ST: MCNAUGHTON’S CH CEDAVOCH SWEETEST TABOO – lovely shaded red bitch, I thought her head in particular was beautiful being that classic conical shape, lacking in stop, feminine, but still with a strong jaw, and lovely dark, almond shaped eyes. Lovely outline both standing and moving, and nice to go over with good angles, tight shoulders and strong hindquarters.

PGB (6/0)
1ST: METCALFE-BILGIN’S METADALE MOANA – very pretty bitch who was better on the move than stacked when she tended to sink down but couldn’t deny her the class on the move where she effortlessly covered the ground, really reaching out in the front.
2ND: JOHNSON & CROSS’ AFRICANDAWNS EILEEN OVER – chunkier bitch than 1 but also moved well in side profile, though hind movement not as strong. Again, she was lower in type and this meant she didn’t look quite as elegant going around as 1. Very pretty in head though with a lovely eye and expression and good forehand with prominent forechest and well placed shoulders.
3RD: LABBADAX LA FAYETTE GEORGIA
LB (2/1)
1ST: BORSUK & FOSSETT’S BALTIC LEGACY VIA AMBERTECKEL – this bitch looked ok stacked up but being taller she really excelled on the move where she flew around the ring with reach and drive and effortless ground coverage. Nice head and lovely length of neck, and very good topline both standing and moving.
OB (4/1)
1ST: MCNAUGHTON’S CH CEDAVOCH CIRCE – absolutely beautiful bitch of classic dachshund type. A perfect blend of style and substance without losing an inch of femininity. Really well made with not a thing out of place, lovely angles front and back, prominent forechest, tight elbows and good drop down with lovely tight feet, excellent spring and lay back off ribbing with strong loin which have her a solid topline throughout. Lovely chunky back end with a good croup, strong hocks, and good length of second thigh. All of this was put into action on the move, where she had a lovely flowing side gait, having both front reach and strong hind drive. Perfect amount of coat which just finished the picture. BCC
2ND: GEESON’S CH ABYDACHS MIRAVAL – very pretty bitch who was close up to 1. Particularly good on the move where she covered the ground with ease having great striding movement and kept a very elegant outline. Didn’t feel she was in quite as good a coat as 1, but a very worthy champion. RCC.
3RD: COOK & RHODES’ CH BOURNDER RUBY EMPRESS
VB (1/0)
1ST: CHEESE’S SUECASEUS DESDEMONA – 7.5 year old b&t bitch who moved well keeping a good topline though she was quite low to ground so the long grass wasn’t ideal for her. Pretty head, good forehand, well sprung ribbing, strong loin, good hammy hindquarters.
