Firstly, I would like to say how pleased I was with my entry of Longs today. Presentation/temperament were very good and, apart from a few neglected teeth, I thought the breed generally was good. I was thrilled with the principle winners and some lovely hounds stood in second place.
PD (2)
1. Roberts’ SWANSFORD GABRIELDOR BPD
2. Harris & McLachlan’s ZARCREST HUW GRANT
These two boys both had merit. A six month baby headed the two and he had good bone and forehand. Both boys had quality heads & expressions and very well-turned quarters. Movement on 1 was more together today and he also had a slightly stronger backline.
JD (4,1)
1. Dare’s LARKHUND BLACK PANTHER DARSOMS (IKC)
Black & tan of super quality headed this class. Construction is excellent with tight laid back shoulders, long elegant neck leading on to a strong backline. Strong quarters on this boy which he used to advantage. RDCC
2. Booth & Elsley’s ABBALONGDAT EAGLE
A very attractive hound with a lot of good points. Slightly lower to ground than 1, and also his movement was not as settled as 1.
3. Chapman’s AFRICANDAWS JUST N TIME FOR MELMINDS
SBD (1)
1. Bushell’s RANGLEWOOD HARVEST HOPS
Black & tan chap who was generally OK. He moved out OK. His coat was a bit curly and his head was a bit strong for me.
PGD (8,1)
A very mixed class
1. Marks’ LABBADAX MONTEBELLO
A lovely red boy headed this class, who maintained a lovely profile both stacked and moving. A good forehand and well laid back shoulders, well rounded ribbing and strong backline. Movement was sound both fore and aft.
2. Nicholson’s LABBADAX MICHEGAN BY BETSYMIRA
Quite a nice boy who again was well constructed and he moved out soundly with a strong backline and well-sprung ribs.
3. Booth & Elsley’s ROMEO RUDE TO ABBALONGDAT (Imp)
LD (6)
1. Metcalfe-Bilgin’s METADALE MONTEREY JACK
A slightly smaller boy but well put together. Attractive head and decent neck leading on to correct shoulders. He used his quarters on the move and was sound both fore and aft. His profile was held both stacked and moving.
2. Marks’ LABBADAX LEWISVILLE TEXAS
A lovely hound all through with correct construction and strong movement. Maybe a little long in the loin for me. He moved out well and presentation was superb.
3. Wedge’s PEVERLEIGH AUTUMNAL LOIUS AT DOLANS
OD (6,1)
A lovely class of males.
1. Dare’s DARSOMS ZOCRATEES
Heading this class was the most beautiful hound. He is so well put together and his profile is perfect. Glorious head, lengthy neck, tight well laid back shoulders, perfect backline and strong quarters. I loved him. DCC & BOB and shortlisted in a strong Group. I was told this was his crowning CC, congratulations!
2. McNaughton’s CH TELKEL RUMOR HAS IT (Imp)
Another classy hound who, again, is very well constructed with a lovely forehand and strong sound quarters. Beautiful backline both stacked and on the move
3. Mitchell’s CH BRONIA TRUE LEGACY
VD
No entries.

2. McGavigan & Pettigrew’s CLENTRY CAMELLIA FOR PETTIGANS
Another attractive girl with similar attributes to 1, but perhaps not as correct in her shoulders. Very appealing head and expression.

1. Geeson’s ABYDACHS KUMALA

2. Burke & Manston’s BONAVOIR ERMINTRUDE
This girl again was very appealing and similar remarks apply. In the final decision, I thought 1 was slightly sounder in her hind action.
