My thanks to the Crufts committee for the invitation to judge this variety. I
have now had the good fortune to have judged all of our varieties at this great
show – something I never dreamed would happen when I first awarded CCs.
Quite a challenging entry to sort out, with many compromises needed. I don’t
think this variety is currently as strong as once it was. Long loins are almost
the norm, and most are rather longer than the required ratios. Flat feet are
also very common. Often when you saw good front movement the rear was
disappointing, or vice versa. Many were rather high in hock. On the plus side
not too many huge ones, coats were mainly correct as was conditioning, including
muscle. Even the very long ones had good toplines.

Really liked his proportions. Masc head with a super eye and expression. Long
neck. Slightly cleaner through the shoulders than 2. Good forechest. Feet could
be better. Well ribbed. Super topline. Liked his ground clearance. Well muscled
rear. Strong contender top honours.
2nd 17928 MISS E MITCHELL - CH BRONIA LOTARIO JW
Much better proportions than 3. He has a v good head. Well developed forechest.
Topline is firm although slightly long in loin. Well muscled up.

loin but holds a level topline. Well bent stifle, slightly high in hock.

Liked his proportions and outline, which he holds on the move. V good, masc head
with fill under eyes. Long neck. Could have a better shoulder. Keel goes well

Liked his size. Pleasing head with dark eyes. Just a bit narrow in front. Could
have longer ribs. Slight slope to croup. Well bent stifle. Fraction high in
hock.

Very clear winner of this class. Liked his size, proportions and a v good mover.
Could be slightly finer in skull. Typical expression. Long neck. Well laid
shoulder. Feet ok. Well ribbed and fairly short on loin. Good rear. Holds a
level topline. Really good d.

He is too big, but a well made d and fairly good mover. Liked his head. Ok neck.
Shoulders well laid just a bit short in upper arm. Level topline. Could have a
better angulated rear.

Liked him to go over with a well laid shoulder. Quite a strong head. Well
ribbed. Moderate rear. Flat coat. Well developed forechest.
