Darlington Championship Show 2021
BEST OF BREED : 5119 DARE, Mrs C Darsoms Zoldare
Thank you for your entry which I was absolutely thrilled with. I thoroughly enjoyed my day which was made all the more special by the applause from the ringside. A good sized ring (even with the odd dip) was great to see the profile action. Thankfully we have some very good youngsters just starting their showing with the puppy classes greatly impressing me. Several older ones still need to shed a few lockdown pounds which will certainly help with the ground covering action. I last judged our variety at Crufts 2017 & have to say I enjoyed this appointment more. We are not totally in the depths of depression, granted quality & quantity isn’t as it was but we do have enough good ones to work with to continue the type & construction that we should all be looking for

1st: 5125 GARLICK, Miss E Ranglewood Arashi. 7 year s/red, super size & type
throughout, so well balanced. Lovely head & expression with dark almond eyes,
defined well arched neck that he uses so well on the move, super shoulders &
length of upper arm, good body & ribbing with cast iron topline, short loins
that lead into well balanced quarters, tail correctly set & carried at all
times. In profile he certainly covered the ground in style, opening his gait &
retaining a very good outline at all times. BV
2nd: 5109 CHAPMAN, Mrs M Melminds Zsylvester. 8 yr s/red that also appealed for
type, loved his head & dark points throughout, plenty of neck, not quite as
clean in shoulders than 1 but better in hind angulation. Loved his body &
ribbing with correct height to length ratio’s. Short thick loins, firm strong
quarters with excellent length of second thigh. Another who retains a lovely
outline in profile covering the ground, in super coat & condition.

Such a lovely class
of three very promising babies, all beautiful in type with so much to
potentially offer our variety right here in these boys.
1st: 5119 DARE, Mrs C Darsoms Zoldare. 10 month clear red that shouts quality.
He is so well made throughout & put on a polished performance. Masculine in head
with dark points, well defined arched neck which he uses so well on the move to
project himself. Super shoulders, tight elbows & prominent breast bone with
plenty of width throughout. Super legs & feet. Ribbing is well developed for his
age extending well back with correct top & underlines. Short thick loins lead
into well made strong hammy quarters with plenty of angulation on strong
parallel hocks. Ultra sound coming & going for one so young retaining a
beautiful picture in profile that draws your eye & makes you look twice. On the
day I could find nothing to beat him & ended up with the well deserved CC, BOB &
BP looking super in the group & went onto a well deserved Puppy Group Two,
congratulations
2nd: 5130 GEESON, Miss E Abydachs Return Of The Night. All quality, 8 month
S/red, slightly shorter coupled than 1 with just a little more ground clearance.
His head piece is stunning, most beautiful dark points throughout. Good strong
teeth with good strong jaws, well arched neck leading into the cleanest of
shoulders, tight elbows on the strongest of legs & feet. Super ribbing with
correct top & underlines, a little more ground clearance which enables him to
cover so much ground in style with ease. Quarters are well made with good strong
hocks & correctly set tail. Another so sound coming & going & presented in hard
condition. Collected a very well deserved RDCC & went onto win a fabulous RCC
Stakes later in the day, congratulations & good luck!

1st: 5136 MARKS, Ms G Labbadax Quantum Socialize. 16 month Clear Red presented
in the most amazing coat & condition. Absolutely sound from any angle & excels
in ribbing, quarters & profile action. A little plain in head for me although
dark points throughout, plenty of forechest & width, super top & underlines,
tail correctly set, well feathered & carried at all times. No problem here
covering the ground in style with great follow through from behind.

1st: 5110 CHAPMAN, Mrs M Africandawns Just N Time For Melminds. 3 yr S/red who
certainly excels in shoulders, so precise. A little strong in head, dark eyes &
points throughout. Well arched neck, prominent breast bone that fits so neatly
in the crook with keel that extends well back. Cast iron backline & deep oval
ribbing. Shade too much loin & would like shorter hocks although they are strong
& parallel. Looks well in profile covering the ground in style retaining a
lovely outline. Beautifully presented

1st: 5117 CROSS, Mr L Loggeta Trouble In Texas. All quality & he certainly
appeals. 2 yr Clear Red in super coat & hard as nails. He is quite impressive to
go over & your hands just flow. Just a little too strong in head for me being a
touch too broad over the skull & foreface, ample neck which he uses so well on
the move, first class shoulders, his angulation is copybook, plenty of width &
depth throughout, very good bone with super feet. Plenty of ribbing that is well
sprung & extends well back. Short strong loins leading into well angulated
quarters with plenty of length to the second thigh. Hocks are short, neat &
parallel. Tail set a touch high although he doesn’t show this on the move & his
flag is carried as a continuation of the spine. Ultra sound coming & going,
really covering the ground in great style. So close up & on this performance
will hopefully appeal to many & go onto a well deserved title.
2nd: 5134 MARKS, Ms G Labbadax Lewisville Texas. The coat & condition on this
dog is really quite something else. An absolute object lesson in presentation. 3
yr S/red being slightly longer than 1 & more exaggerated throughout which I
don’t dislike!. Strong head with jest black points throughout, big teeth &
strong jaws, long well arched neck, not as precise in shoulder as 1, tight
elbows, plenty of forechest. Ribbing is long & extends well back, firm topline,
excels in quarters which are strong & well muscled. Like 1 his tail is slightly
high set although he carries it well on the move. Ultra sound up & down & moves
like a train in profile retaining an appealing overall picture

1st: 5141 METCALFE-BILGIN, Mrs S Metadale Monterey Jack. Beautiful type, 4 yr
S/red, super size & sowell balanced throughout. Appealing head with correct
ratio’s from muzzle to skull, well arched neck, clean shoulders & tight elbows.
Super body & ribbing with correct top & underlines, short strong loins lead into
well angulated quarters on neat strong hocks. Sound enough coming & going,
retains a lovely outline in profile with a proud head carriage. Coat so well
presented & I thought he would have gone further, however in the challenge he
just was’nt opening his gait in the same style as the eventual winners. If he
ups his gear there is no doubt he should carry his crown.
2nd: 5135 MARKS, Ms G Labbadax Latimer Kansas. Loved the head & expression on
this 4 yr Red who once again was so beautifully presented. Well arched neck
although not as precise in shoulder angulation as 1 & not quite the forechest.
Superb in body proportions & ribbing, correct top & underlines which lead into
short strong loins. His hind angulation is very good with strong hocks. Coming &
going he was extremely sound with plenty of width throughout. Another who
carried himself so well in profile producing a good overall picture

Just like the Puppy
Dog class, this was a joy to judge with all of them appealling for a variety of
reasons, how exciting!
1st: 5138 MCNAUGHTON, Ms L Cedavoch Blithe Spirit. This 9 month Red is really
quite outstanding & once she looses her puppyness there is no doubt that she
will be hard to get past. Most feminine head & expression, dark points
throughout, long well arched neck, perfection in shoulders, tight elbows on
super legs & feet. Keel is well defined & extends well back, long ribbing with a
good firm backline. Short in loin leading into an object lesson in hind
angulation. Angulation is perfect on the shortest neatest hocks. Sound enough
for one so young coming & going, in profile she holds her head high & eats up
the ground as moves out clearly displaying correct reach & follow through from
behind. In beautiful coat & condition, it was very nearly the big one, just
tending to show her age at the wrong time. RBCC & no doubt she has every fault
in the book by now, the only thing wrong with her is that she isn’t mine!
2nd: 5120 DARE, Mrs C Darsoms Zendra. Another beauty & so close up. Classic in
type & your hands flow going over her on the table. 10 month s/red. Lovely head
& dark points throughout, well defined arched neck which she uses so well on the
move, good shoulders with prominent breast bone, tight neatly fitting elbows,
very good ribbing that extends well back, short thick loins, well made quarters
& she certainly uses her super angulation to great advantage on the move
producing great driving action. A real showgirl being slightly shorter coupled
than 1 which maybe what decides the many battles these two are going have next
year. Good luck with them both!

1st: 5111 CHAPMAN, Mrs M Melminds Maybelline. 16 month clear red built on
beautiful flowing lines, so elegant throughout. Overall she really appeals to me
for her ultra femininity. Beautiful head & expression, dark points throughout,
long elegant neck carrige, good shoulders, enough width throughout, very good
body & ribbing which extends well back. Enough angulation behind which she uses
so well on the move, well muscled throughout with good strong parallel hocks.
Sound enough coming & going but he profile movement & carriage is what really
takes your eye. Will be useful I think
2nd: 5150 WEDGE, Mr M Dolan Summertime Blues. 14 month red presented
immaculately. Hard as nails & so well muscled throughout. Appealing head, big
teeth & strong jaws, well arched neck, enough forechest & has plenty of width
throughout, ribbing is well sprung on a cast iron topline. Has just enough
angulation behind, tail correctly set & carried at all times. Not as precise as
1 coming & going & not as ultra feminine. Looks well in profile, giving the
impression she could go all day!

1st: 5143 METCALFE-BILGIN, Mrs S Metadale Margarita. 2 year s/red that is
stunning to go over. So well made throughout & full of quality. Really feminine
head & expression, dark expressive oval eyes, well arched neck leading into well
placed shoulders with tight elbows on very good legs & feet. Plenty of width
throughout, forechest fits tightly & keel extends well back. Ribbing is deep &
well sprung with correct top & underlines. Short thick loins leading into
correctly angulated & balanced quarters. Hocks are short, neat & parallel. Super
sound coming & going & projects herself so well on the move. For me here today I
thought she could have benefited loosing a few pounds & this would have
potentially given her a more free moving effortless gait. One I loved & have now
doubt should go onto better things!.
2nd: 5112 CHEESE, Mrs S R Ranglewood Titania at Suecaseus. 2 yr clear red,
feminine throughout & well made. Lovely head & eye with dark points throughout.
Plenty of neck which she uses well on the move, not quite as precise in shoulder
as 1, would prefer better bone & feet, very good ribbing that extends well back,
firm topline & correct underline. Enough angulation behind which is where she
excels on the move. Strong parallel hocks. Not as prcise coming towards me as 1
here but ultra sound behind. Gives a very pleasing picture in profile

1st: 5137 MCGAVIGAN, Mr C & PETTIGREW, Mr C Clentry Camellia For Pettigans. I’ve
seen this 3 yr red so many times in the ring having good & lazy days. Today was
a good day & I loved her if for nothing else her beautiful type. Beautiful head
& expression, good strong teeth & jaws, well arched neck leading into correct
shoulder angulation. Plenty of forechest & width throughout. Super bone, legs &
feet. Very good top & underlines with well sprung ribbing that extends well
back. Strong short loins leading into well angulated quarters on short neat
hocks. In beautiful coat & condition with a full flag. She is quite a long girl
but all in proportion, height to length ratio’s are spot on. Very sound & here
she moved out really well in profile retaining a most attractive outline.
Without doubt a quality girl that will be extremely useful
2nd: 5133 LEWIS, Mr D Trixhund Hi De Hi JW. 3 yr S/red that was so fit & active
covering the ground in great style with ease. Shorter coupled than 1 but her
size & femininity appealed greatly. Lovely head & melting expression, enough
neck, very good shoulders & tight elbows, plenty of forechest & width
throughout. Very good ribbing, well muscled body & loins, good hind angulation
on the shortest neatest hocks. Sound enough coming & going, covers the ground
well in profile in style, hard as nails, active & beautifully presented. The
little extra length of 1 just tipped the scales for me here. Quality girl

1st: 5129 GEESON, Miss E Abydachs Fire In Her Soul. If ever there was a Long
that you could define as Fit For Function then this 2 yr S/red is it. So active
& full of life she does everything so naturally & with no effort. I think she
could send me giddy at times!. Her femininity is personified & if she was a GSD
you would class her as ‘middle of the road’!. She combines the best of both
packages & gives a very happy medium. Not to tall but has ground clearance, not
to long but in no way cobby or short coupled. But above all she still has
everything that defines type in a Long Haired Dachshund. Gorgeous head & soft
expression, long well arched neck, enough width throughout with a good prominent
breast bone. Fabulous ribbing that extends well back with cast iron topline
which never faulters. Short thick loins leading into good strong quarters with
enough angulation. So well muscled throughout & hard as nails. Hocks are strong
& parallel. Sound & free coming & going, her profile action is an object lesson,
so easy with effortless reach & follow through. Enough coat & in gleaming
condition. I’d like to say she worked hard for her third CC but it took little
effort at all & was well deserved, congratulations. No doubt it will be
interesting to see what she goes onto produce!
2nd: 5144 MILLER, Miss K & RYAN, Mr E Ch Bronia Final Fantasy at Cavallibrook (ai)
JW. For type alone I have always admired this beautiful girl. I was green with
envy when she first appeared for a variety of reasons!. Like my limit winner she
can sometimes be her worst enemy (& we’ve all had them!). Here she started off
so well & I so hoped she would keep going. Exquisite in head & expression (I
could look at her face all day), well arched neck leading into very good
shoulders, plenty of breast bone with Keel that extends well back. Very good
body & ribbing carrying the right amount of weight. Short loins & decent
quarters. Longer & lower than 1 which I like but certainly not as active. Very
sound coming & going & retains a lovely outline in profile with her proud head
carriage. Did enough here to secure second over another favourite but when
called in for The RBCC decided she had already done enough. Without doubt worthy
of her title & one that should go onto produce something special.
