Would like to thank the Club for arranging to move this assignment from Driffield to Darlington, which is such a lovely show venue. I found the entry to be a bit a mixed bag with many exhibits tending to be cow hocked and unable to stand on the hind quarters with out sinking or actually sitting down when coming to a stand still, exhibitors trying to prop them up with their foot? I was looking for a moderate dog, functionally built without exaggerations, maintaining a level topline standing and on the move.
Dachshund (Long-Haired)
Veteran (5)
1 Garlick’s – Ranglewood Arashi, loved the type of this 10 year old fellow, classical head with slight roman nose, correct front assembly with tight elbows and long sternum, moving soundly and firm topline. Close up for CC or RCC, hope his 3rd CC is awarded as is justly deserved!
2 Bailey’s – Glasvey Double Trouble for Loggeta, pretty feminine bitch just into veteran, loved her size, good head and expression, shoulder a bit high placed, moved and held herself well. Considered for CC.
Minor Puppy (1)
1 McNaughton’s – Cedavoch Circeo, loved the type well off for bone, well pronounced forechest, shoulder needs to settle back a bit, sternum long enough, good topline good reach and true going away.
Junior (1)
1 Hanney-Mitchell’s – Dachyclan Lochlan at Bronia (imp Aus), elegant in that adolescent stage, nice head, pronounced forechest, good feet, stood bit close in hocks, free mover.
Yearling (3,1)
1 Cross’s - Breezelyn Long Way To Go to Loggetta, lovely type just not showing himself off to advantage today, nice head, good reach of neck into well laid back shoulder, good length sternum, long easy strides and correct tail set. Hope he gets to settle and show off his virtues.
2 Vincent’s – Breezlyn Long Awaited by Gainscroft, see he is litter brother to 1st, different type being bit heavy in back skull, upper arm could be longer, moved close in rear and tail set too high.
Post Grad (1)
1 Paskins’s – Kindeace Hit the Road Jack, pleasing type and size, good length of neck, found him little upright in front as upper arm could be tad longer, good length sternum, firm topline and true out and back.
Limit (6,2)
1 Vincent’s - Gainscroft Dashing Dudley, on the smaller end of the standard for a male, yet well balanced and still well off for substance, sufficient length of neck into good shoulder lay back, upper arm could be longer, sternum extending well back, very balanced on move maintaining level topline. RCC
2 Taylor & Hilton’s – Delsaux Across The Universe, in lovely condition, head a little strong, nice size and substance, standing a little higher on leg then I prefer and little close in hocks.
Open (3)
1 Paskins’s – Cedavoch It’s Taboo at Kindeace, the more I assessed this dog the more I liked his unexaggerated balance and moderation, his head was a touch plain, however enough length, well proportioned, with dark almond eye, neck of sufficient length flowed nicely into well laid back shoulders, well developed forechest and tight clean elbows, lengthy sternum extended well back. Low to ground and enough ground clearance, stood four square on his hind legs, liked his free movement maintaining a firm topline, without moving underneath himself, moved true going away albeit a tad closer then I prefer. Pleased to award him the CC, which I hear was his first.
2 Geeson’s – Ch Abydachs Return Of The Night, elegant well presented, liked his head and expression, reachy neck, shoulder rather higher placed for me, pronounced forechest, firm topline a little under himself on go around.
Special Beginners (2,1)
1 Heap’s – Ranglewood Katrine, what a little stunner, just my cup of tea, lovely to go over everything in right place, rather stubborn for her handler and sadly let herself down, as could not assess her on the move. Hope you get her to show off her virtue someday!
Minor Puppy (1)
1 McNaughton’s – Cedavoch Just An Illusion, another pretty puppy, I see half sister the Special Beginner, nice head, good neck into shoulders, good bone and moved with reach and drive. Look forward to her future.
Puppy (2)
1 Reid’s – Swansford Daphnedora at Maudaxi, Pleasing type, loved her head, good reach of neck, well developed forechest, sternum could be tad longer, moved well and nice to see her perfect parallel rear going away. BP, pity she could not represent breed in BPIS, as bred by judge, however there will be other times no doubt!
2 Dare’s – Darsoms Zyrhona, nice sized , head a bit plain, shoulder higher placed, good topline, tail a little high set, another nice true parallel in rear going away.
Junior (6,3)
1 McGavigan & Pettigrew’s – Pettigans Veni Vidi Vici, pretty headed black and tan, caught my eye on entering ring, liked her front assembly, good length neck, sternum well back, maintained a firm level topline and stood square in rear. Pleased to award the RCC.
2 Vincent’s – Breezlyn A Long Story at Gainscroft, stronger bitch, very well pronounced prosternum, sternum on short side, tail carried too high, true parallel in rear.
Yearling (2,1)
1 Paskin’s – Kindeace You Wear It Well, nice balanced with good front assembly, head well infront of body, good length of sternum, bit closer going away in rear.
Post Grad (3,1)
1 Vincent’s – Gaincroft Dolly’s Dina, nice size black and tan with no exaggerations, head a tad short, shoulder bit upright and upper arm tad short, good bone for size, correct tail set, true out and back.
2 Garlick’s – Ranglewood Heilen, another black and tan, lovely headed, rather anxious on table, shoulder bit high placed, good length sternum, good reach and drive.
Limit (10,4)
1 Garlick’s – Kyrenia Queens Request with Ranglewood, one who caught my attention on her assessment, noy in full coat on the day however loved her elegance, pretty headed, loved her front assembly, all put together found her sound on the move with firm level topline, around the ring reach and drive, firm level , catching my eye to eventually award her the CC and eventually onto to BOB.
2 Geeson’s – Abydachs Hot Patootie JW, loved her on entering the ring, lovely type and condition, lots to like , front coming towards could be tighter.
3 Paget & Carroll’s – Cavallibrook Final Say at Marvale. Well presented Third in strong class.
Open (6,2)
1 Bailey’s – Glasvey Double Trouble for Loggeta, 2nd in Veteran. Close in consideration for the CC or RCC.
2 McNaughton’s – Ch Cedavoch Blithe Spirit, pretty type in full bloom, can see why she is a Champion, for me topline a bit too sloping, rather crouched in rear.
