I was pleased to be invited to judge this variety at one of my favourite general
ChampionshipShows. The society extended wonderful hospitality and the sun shone.
Presentation overallwas good, apart from my usual moan of some with very long
nails and untrimmed or badlytrimmed feet. I was surprised to find a few suspect
bites, which isn’t something I’veencountered in this variety previously, so
several who looked clear winners went down the line.Still too many slab-sided
ribcages, often coupled with short upper arms, prominent elbows andsubsequently
narrow, upright, fronts. Some showed a tendency to lean heavily on theirforehand,
exhibiting a lack of hind drive. My principal winners pleased me greatly, and it
was very positive to find some extremelypromising youngsters, and also to see
many new exhibitors to the variety.Veteran – 3 (1 a)1st Lewis’ Trixhund Opium JW
SHCM SH CEX VW. A really smart, shaded red dog put downin wonderful coat and
clean, hard, condition. Super head proportions with decent reach ofneck,
presenting a clean outline. Moved freely and soundly, keeping a firm outline.
Carries hisyears lightly. Best Veteran.2nd Wedge’s Faulksfollie Miss Minaver at
Dolans. Shaded red bitch, shorter-coupled andmore leg than 1. Not as positive in
movement.Puppy Dog – 11st Lewis’ Trixhund Ten From Len. A bit of a find!
Upstanding young silver dapple male withso much going for him, for me he had the
whole package. Immaculately presented, super headwith dark, almond eye and
well-set leathers. Tidy front with plenty of width and heartroom.Sternum well
back with correct spring and depth of rib, firm loin and decent hindquarters
andcorrect tail set. He is so clean and free striding on the move, showing a
clean pair of heels goingaway, and keeping a firm topline. I’m aware he could be
a better-marked dapple, but he couldnot be denied here, an exciting young male
with much to offer the breed. Delighted to awardhim the dog CC and BP, and hope
he will have a very bright future.Junior dog – 21st Doyle’s Kindace Light My
Fire. Shaded sable dog of nice type, correct head and eye witha neat, tidy
front. Shorter coupled and more together than 2. Sound on the move but
wasfeeling the heat a bit and could have opened his gait more. Well
presented.2nd Turton’s Breezelyn Long Time No See At Damoradaxies. Classy shaded
red dog with asuper head. He’s a big lad, and for me could be better in rib and
shorter in loin. Needs to gethis act together on the move.Post Graduate Dog –
51st Vincent’s Long Awaited By Gainscroft. A well-presented, clear red dog of
correct size.Soundly constructed and of nice type. Best mover here which won him
the class. 2nd Baker’s Sundayshill Theodore at Borzdac. Glamorous Shaded red dog
of good make andshape. Sound, steady mover but not the hind drive of 1.3rd
Cross’ Breezelyn Long Way To Go To LoggettaLimit Dog – 21st Vincent’s Gainscroft
Dark Destroyer. Really liked this smart shaded red dog of correctsize, pleasing
head and expression. Tidy front, well-ribbed with short, strong loin. Moved
reallywell with hocks well under him, keeping a firm topline.2nd Wedge’s Dolan
Dock Of The Bay. Shaded red dog, rather out of coat and condition herebut an
honest type. Moved soundly but a little roached in topline.Open Dog – 11st
Roberts’ Ch Swansford Prestonador. Well presented shaded red dog of lovely
type.Super head proportions with dark, almond eye. Decent reach of neck and good
layback ofshoulder, correct ribbing of good spring and depth. Short, strong loin
and well-angulated rear.Very sound on the move, keeping a firm topline. Pleased
to award him the RCC.Special Beginners1st Partridge’s Pettigans Viva La Vida By
Riveroyal. Very neat and tidy shaded sable bitchwho shows great promise. Typical
head with great expression, decent reach of neck and well-placed shoulders with
decent ribbing. Typical baby, just needing to tighten fore and aft butmoved out
soundly and with drive, winning this class with a bit to spare. Very promising
andwell presented.2nd Lacey’s Abydezi Northern Lights. Shaded red bitch of
decent type, she’s still at the rangystage and needing to get it together on the
move – but has time on her side.3rd Turton’s Breezelyn Long Time No See At
DamoradaxiesPuppy Bitch – 51st Dare’s Darsoms Zyrhona. Exquisite mahogany shaded
red bitch with oodles of breedtype, has the whole package and will take some
beating when mature. Classic head with goodeye shape and colour. Super reach of
neck with correct shoulder. Well-ribbed and super hindangulation, she moved with
drive, keeping her topline at all times. Put down in gleaming coatand wonderful
condition. She could not be denied the RCC, and will I’m sure have a very
brightfuture.2nd Roberts’ Swansford Debhoradora. Really smart puppy of similar
type, make and shape.Close up to 1 in all departments but couldn’t match her on
the move in the heat today.Nonetheless, showed beautifully and so well
presented.3rd Reid’s Swansford Daphnedora At MaudaxiJunior Bitch – 4 (1a) 1st
Reid’s Cavallibrook One Final Kiss At Maudaxi. Really smart, clear red bitch of
super type.Lovely head and eye, decent reach of neck and well-placed shoulders,
with correct ribbing. Stillvery much a baby and needing to get her act together
on the move – but very promising.2nd Vincent’s Breezelyn A Long Story At
Gainscroft. Elegant black & tan bitch of differenttype to 1 and also still in
the rangy stage.3rd Lacey’s Abydezi Northern LightsPost Graduate Bitch – 31st
Sainsbury’s Drymoor Marron Glace At Boscolla. Elegant and correct shaded red
bitch.Classy head with correct leathers and amazing fringing! Nothing overdone
and so soundlyconstructed all through. Moved soundly and with drive and
presented in immaculate order.2nd Chapman’s Melminds Up On The Catwalk. Smart
red bitch of different type, being tallerand finer than 1. Unfortunately
unsettled on the table, but moved out really well, keeping hertopline.3rd
Wedge’s Dolan Summer Time BluesLimit Bitch – 7 (1wd)1st Whitfield Roberts’
Swansford Patriciadora. Well-presented shaded red bitch so typicalof this
kennel. Feminine head of correct proportions, super reach of neck and layback
ofshoulder. Neat and correct front with super ribbing, short strong loin and
great hind angulation, enabling her to move with reach and drive, showing great
extension. The more she moved thebetter she got. Handled to advantage, I was
happy to award her the CC and subsequently BOB.Sure she’ll gain her crown with
ease.2nd Paget & Carroll’s Cavallibrook Final Say At Marvale. Glamourous black &
tan bitch whoran 1 close here. Presents a wonderful outline, sometimes a bit
obscured by her profuse coat, but has nothing to hide. Lovely to go over and not
easy to fault. She moved with reach anddrive, keeping a strong topline.
Beautifully presented and well-handled.3rd Chapman’s Melminds Make Them GoldOpen
Bitch – 21st Lewis’ Trixhund Obsession. Very smart black & tan bitch sired by
veteran winner and putdown in lovely bloom. Pleasing head and expression with
decent reach of neck and a tidy front.Could do with a touch more angulation in
rear, but she moves really well – thoroughly enjoyingherself the entire time,
maintaining a firm topline.2nd Chapman’s Melminds Maybelline. Red bitch with a
decent outline, unfortunately goingshort on her left fore on the move.
