Standing in today for the late Mr Ken Sinclair. A great loss to the canine world. I would like to start by saying that this report is only an opinion, whether you agree or not, after all you all take home the best dogs in your eyes. Personally I exhibited this variety way back in the 80’s campaigning exhibits from the African Dawns and Frankenwen Kennels of Mr Tony Johnson and Mrs Wendy Barrow respectively. Today was my sixth time judging this variety and the quality was overall pleasing. Temperaments were good and presentation in general was excellent. However, a few exhibits would benefit from more attention to better trimming especially on their feet! The weather was seriously hot and did have some affect on some exhibits, especially on the move. Whilst most coped really well this fact alone was a deciding factor throughout the entry! PD (1) 1 Garlick, Rangelwood Christmas Star, red, just 6 months. Bright start to the day’s proceedings. Quality puppy with plenty to admire all through. Correct conical shaped head with excellent dentition. Clear in eye which gives off a pleasing expression. He had plenty in neck with a clean front assembly. Sufficient in rib, correct croup and tailset all finished off with a well angulated rear with short parallel hocks. He stands on correct bone with neat compact feet. He put his best foot forward on the out and back whilst holding a pleasing profile on the go around whilst still taking time out to have a bit of fun. Nothing wrong with that at this stage. Pleased to award BPD and later on BPIB. JD (2) 1 Mitchell, Ch Dachyclan Connolly at Bronia (Imp Aus), B/T. An exhibit that has made an impact since arriving on these shores and I am well aware of his record to date. He certainly has ring presence. On inspection his head is ok but would prefer slightly less back skull but he is clear in eye with correct dentition. His neck flows into a clean front assembly with good fill in forechest with ribbing ok. His elbows are kept well in with parallel forelegs. I would prefer a little less length in loin which would help to balance him up. However, he is well angulated in his rear and he stands on quality bone with excellent feet On the out and back he displayed correct foot falls. He was presented in stunning order. His jet black coat gleaming in the sunshine. I’m sure he is going to make an impact on someone’s breeding programme! 2 O’Nell, Ranglewood Pheonix at Donnadach B/T. Plenty to admire all throughout about this one. Handsome in head, clear in eye with good dentition. Plenty in neck with good fill in forechest. Ribbing is ok. Topline is solid which leads to a well angulated rear. He to stands on good bone with neat feet. Whilst his footfalls were accurate I felt he was not putting all in on the go around as the winner was! PGD (2) 1 Roberts, Swansford Padwanador, red, 14 months. My star of the day and for me he ticks all of the boxes for overall correct breed type. On inspection he has a head to die for which is of the correct “conical” shape with excellent dentition and a clear expressive eye. His neck flows into a clean front assembly with good fill in forechest with parallel forelegs. His ribbing is extended well back to a firm loin. He stands on quality bone with neat compact feet which were trimmed to perfection. Take a look, this is how you present feet! He came to life on the move displaying a true reach and drive whilst holding a solid topline on the go around. As usual from this exhibitor presentation was one hundred percent. No hesitation today the CC his first. Many should follow if judged fairly. Later on he defended a strong challenge from the bitch CC winner to claim BoB. Incidentally the bitch CC winner was his “sister”. This one Mrs Swann would have been proud of! 2 Maxwell & Chalmers, Swansford Padamador Aintshe, litter brother to the winner. He scores in head, eye and expression with correct dentition. Plenty in neck with good fill in forechest. Ribbing is ok with correct croup and tailset all finished off with a well angulated rear. He stands on quality bone with neat feet. On the out and back he was accurate but tended to lose his topline on the go around. LD (2) 1 Pike, Carter, Breezelyn Love You Long time, red. Head has good balance with a kind eye. Plenty in neck with good fill in forechest. Ribbing is extended well back to a firm loin. Elbows kept well in and he stands on correct bone with ok feet. Moved out well on the out and back whilst holding a pleasing profile on the go around. 2 O’Neill, Ranglewood Finlaggan at Donnadach, b/t. OK all through for overall breed type. OK in head with correct eye. Sufficient in neck with good fill in forechest. Topline is ok with good bone and feet. Just felt he would benefit from carrying a little less weight and again another that was affected by the heat whilst moving. OD (3) 1 Geeson, Ch Abydachs Return of the Night, shaded red. Handsome individual of above average merit. Elegant but retains substance throughout. One of only a few with the correct conical head. Dark in eye, plenty in neck with good fill in forechest. His ribbing is extended well back a firm loin. Elbows are kept well in while he stands on quality bone with good feet. He moved out well on the out and back and was presented in excellent coat and condition. A worthy “Ch” indeed. RCC. 2 Lewis, Trixhund Ten From Len. Totally different for type to the winner. He possesses a masculine head which displays correct proportions with a kind eye. Sufficient in neck with a well filled forechest. He scores in ribbing with a level topline which leads to a well angulated rear. In all honesty I am not a fan of his colouring however they don’t move on colouring and this is where he scores above others. He is sound on the out and back displaying good reach and drive whilst holding a solid topline on the go around and he was presented in good order. I am fully aware that he is banging on the door to claim his crown. Will more than likely get there! 3 Geeson, Ch Abydachs Darkest Night. Litter brother to the winner and some would think they should have stood side by side in the line up and at one point that’s what I thought. He has all his brother’s attributes but sadly the heat had got to this boy. The consequences were he simply did nothing on the move so had to pay the penalty! But he is a worthy”Ch”. PB (2) Two promising bitch puppies. 1 West, Delsaux Twenty Carot Golden for Kenalldax, red. Has plenty to admire all through. Feminine in head which displays correct balance with a dark expressive eye with excellent dentition. Her neck flows into a clean front assembly. Ribbing is carried well back. Topline is level and she stands on quality bone with neat compact feet. Coped well with the heat moving out well on the out and back and was well presented. Just out gunned by the extrovert Puppy Dog for BPIB but should continue to do well. 2 Baricott & Pascoe, Fahoogle Minack, red. She has all the qualities of the winner and same remarks apply. At this stage just needs to gain more confidence on the table. In time this will happen. JB (2) 1 Roberts, Swansford Padmeadora. So the Swansford bandwagon rolls on in the capable hands of this talented breeder/exhibitor. She is high quality all through with such an eye catching appearance. Super feminine head which is of the correct conical shape. Dark expressive eye with excellent dentition. Her neck flows into a clean front assembly with good fill in forechest. Elbows are kept well in with ribbing carried well back to a firm loin with correct croup and tailset all finished off with a well angulated rear. She stands on excellent bone with correct feet. It’s on the move that she comes to life displaying an easy free flowing reach and drive whilst holding an eye catching profile on the go around. No hesitation in awarding her the CC today, her second. Will soon wear her crown with normal luck. Today I sent her brother forward to the Group because I felt he was just that more mature. 2 Garlick, Ranglewood Andromeda, red. Another that scores in head which is of the correct conical shape. Kind in eye, plenty in neck. Ribbing is extended well back. Topline is solid all finished off with a well angulated rear. She displayed accurate footfalls on the out and back whilst holding her profile on the go around. Will continue to do well. Unlucky today! PGB 3 (1) 1 Reid, Swansford Daphnedora at Maudaxi, red. Has plenty to admire all through. Feminine in head which is of the correct conical shape with excellent dentition. She is clear in eye with plenty in neck. Good fill in forechest. Her neck flows into a clean front assembly. Her ribbing is extended well back. Topline is level all finished off with a well angulated rear. Bone and feet correct. Displayed accurate footfalls on the out and back and was well presented. 2 Heap, Ranglewood Katrine, b/t. OK for overall breed type. Head, eye and expression all correct with good dentition. Plenty in neck. Ribbing is extended well back. Bone and feet are correct. Another exhibit that was affected by the heat. Sadly not putting all in on the move. LB 4 (3) 1 Garlick, Kyrenia Queens Request with Rangelwood, red. Has plenty to admire all through. Correct proportions in head which is feminine with a clear eye. Plenty in neck which flows into a well laid shoulder. Elbows kept well in with ribbing extended well back. Topline is level which leads to a well angulated rear. She stands on good bone with correct feet. Whilst her footfalls were accurate on the out and back she lacked sparkle on the go around. Yes affected by the heat, but will continue to do well! OB (3) 1st Lewis, Trixhund Madness, red. Feminine all through with plenty to admire. Correct in head which has good balance. Kind in eye with correct dentition. Plenty in neck with good fill in forechest. Her ribbing is extended well back to a firm loin with correct croup and tailset all finnished off with a well angulated rear. She stands on quality bone with neat compact feet. On the move she displayed accurate footfalls on the out and back whilst holding an eye catching profile on the go around whilst putting all in to claim the RCC. 2 Pike, Carter, Breezelyn Longing for Love. Another smart individual of good merit. Feminine in head with a kind eye. Plenty in neck. Ribbing is extended well back. Topline is solid. Bone and feet good. Another that moved out well and was presented in good order. 3 Garlick, Ranglewood Islay. Pleasing all through for overall good breed type. Head, eye and expression all good. General body proportions displays good balance with correct bone and feet. Sadly another that was affected by the heat on the move.
