I am very grateful to the Secretary and Committee for the opportunity to judge three varieties of dachshund at championship level and it was interesting to compare the various traits and differences. It was hard but rewarding work with dogs present in 36 classes and very warm weather: the in-and-out tented rings were so welcome for all concerned, especially the dogs, and movement may have affected by the hot conditions. My two trusty stewards, Sue and Alison, worked so hard and efficiently to keep me on track and I am extremely grateful to them both. LONG HAIRED DACHSHUNDS Although I am a Wire Haired Dachshund owner, I have to confess a soft spot for this elegant breed, though I wish that coats were a little less profuse. Overall sizes were not too bad but I wonder if a few might have struggled to keep within the 26 pound preferred limit. Veteran: (Entries 0, Absentees 0) Puppy Dog: (2,0) 1. Paskins’ Kindeace London’s Calling, 9 month old shaded red, correct size and proportions, strong masculine head, good prosternum, level topline, decent length of ribbing, tight feet, moved with purpose if a bit close going away and rather fond of his tail BPD 2. Lacey’s Abydezi Shades of Glory, 11 month old shaded red, good head and neck, larger dog than 1, sufficient ribbing but rather long in loin, level topline, good feet, moved well if close behind and rather wide in front. Junior Dog: (2,0) 1.Roberts’ Swansford Panawanador, 14 month old shaded red, profuse coat, masculine head, good length of neck, good prosternum, much taller at withers than rump, good tight shoulders, would prefer longer ribbing, moved well with confidence and fairly straight both ways 2.Paskins’ Delsaux Life Goes on at Kindeace, 11 month old shaded red with coat of good length, correct head, eye and ear set, decent front and neck, good length of ribbing but shoulders let him down, tight feet, moved well with level topline though rather close behind

Post Graduate Dog: (1,0) 1. Doyle’s Kindeace Light my Fire, 2 year old shaded red, a little nervous on the table, good head, neck and prosternum, level topline, good feet and ribbing, would like to have seen more animation on the move Limit Dog: (3,0) 1. Fricker’s Sundayshill Theodore at Borzdac, 2 year old shaded red, compact and well proportioned, correct head, good front and shoulders, tight feet, perhaps a little more ribbing desired, moved well and fairly parallel, certainly considered in the challenge, 2. Paskins’ Kindeace Hit the Road Jack, 2 year old shaded red, pleasing head, good front, a tad short in upper arm, good topline and maybe a little more ribbing preferred, moved well if rather close behind, 3. Pike & Carter’s Breezelyn Love You Long Time Open Dog: (2,0) 1. Roberts’ Ch Swansford Prestonador, 3 year old shaded red and in excellent hard condition, lovely male head and expression, excellent front, good shoulders, tight elbows, neck flowing into topline, full ribbing, moved out as if he knew he was a winner DCC & BOB 2. De Vree’s Huntaks Undercover Agent, almost 2 years old, compact sized

shaded red, liked his shorter less profuse coat, looked as though he could work all day, good front and shoulders, level topline, just a tad closer behind than winner RDCC Special Beginners: (5,0) 1. Partridge’s Pettigans Viva La Vida by Riveroyal, 22 month old shaded red, lovely feminine head, decent prosternum, good topline and ribbing, a bit down on pasterns, moved out well if a bit close on approach BSB 2. Curteis-Lateo’s Swansford Priyankadora, 14 month old red, a lot to like, good size, feminine head, good front, feet, topline and ribbing but rather close going away and unsettled on the move 3. Lacey’s Abydezi’s Shades of Glory Puppy Bitch: (3,0) 1. Chapman’s Melminds Makayla, 10 month old red, feminine head, good length of neck, decent prosternum, good shoulders, level topline, moved well if a bit close behind BP 2. West’s Delsaux Twenty Carat for Kendalldax, 10 month old shaded red with pleasing coat, good prosternum, maybe a little more upper arm needed and a bit loose at elbow, decent neck, good topline, slightly weak pasterns, moved out well but a bit close behind, 3. Wilson’s Delaux’s Happy Ever After Junior Bitch: (2,0) 1. Roberts’ Swansford Padmeadora, 14 month old shaded red, very feminine head, excellent front, tight at elbow, tight feet, good shoulders, decent ribbing, moved out really well RBCC 2. Curteis Lateo’s Swansford Priyankadora, as above in SB Post Graduate Bitch: (6,1) 1. Paskins’ Kindeace You Wear It Well, 2 year old shaded red, feminine head, compact, decent prosternum, a tad short in upper arm, good topline and ribbing, drove out well though not that parallel 2. Reid’s Swansford Daphnedora at Maudaxi 20 month old shaded red, compact, good prosternum, decent shoulder construction, ribbing not as good as class winner, a little down on pasterns, drove out well though close behind, 3. Chapman’s Melminds Up On The Catwalk Limit Bitch: (3,1) 1. Dare’s Darsom’s Zyrhona, dark shaded red, good size, compact, feminine head, decent reach of neck, good front and tight shoulders, level topline, good ribbing, drove out and fairly parallel, seriously considered in the challenge, 2. Chapman’s Maybelline, 5 year old red, decent prosternum, good shoulders, level topline but ribbing not as long as class winner, drove out fairly well and reasonably parallel Open Bitch: (2,0) 1. Pike & Carter’s Breezelyn Longing for Love, 2 year old shaded red, excellent proportions, very feminine head, good eye, good prosternum, long reach of neck flowing into level topline which she kept throughout, good front and shoulders, tight feet, moved with grace and purpose BCC 2. Roberts’ Swansford Debhoradora, 20 month old with profuse dark shaded red coat, lovely feminine head, good prosternum and shoulders, decent neck, but like her kennel mate Panawanador, much taller at the withers than rump, did not have the ribbing of class winner, moved well Ian Smith (Salixian) 15th July 2025
