Thanks to the Committee for their kind invitation. I thoroughly enjoyed my appointment despite the inclement weather which made it necessary to judge indoors. Thanks to all the exhibitors who honoured me with their entries, and accepted my decisions with grace and courtesy. All dogs were of excellent temperment and almost all had clean teeth with good bites. The overall quality was good, with some excellent exhibits in each of the three varieties. In a number of the exhibits, fronts were not what I was looking for, i.e. point of the breast bone high up and prominent. A few had kinks in their tails, which being a genetic fault needs to be taken seriously.

P (2) 1 Cooper’s Sontag Simon le Bone, 9 month old b/t dog of full size shown in excellent condition. Good front, nicely balanced and excellent movement. Best Puppy & Reserve Best Dog. 2 Dalgety’s Thundergay Surley Charmed, 8 month old Choc bitch that lacked drive. J (1) Dalgety’s Thundergay Beguiled Again, Choc litter sister of 2nd in Puppy. Movement a little narow going away.

G (1) Dalgety’s Thundergay Bohemienne, 20 month old b/t bitch with good front. Excellent temperment as with all dogs from this kennel.

L (2) 1 McNaughton’s Cedavoch Aarwen, 19 month old red bitch of nice size, good head, neck and backline, well angulated front and rear. Excellent movement. Would like a better front to complete the picture of an otherwise excellent exhibit. Reserve Best Bitch. 2 Given’s Marictur Mansfield, big 2 year old b/t dog with satisfactory head and neck. Looked well when standing but moved a little close.

OD (1) McNaughton’s Ch/Aus.Ch. Nicholyev the Hobbit (Imp), big red 4 year old dog of good ring presence and showing great freedom of movement. Excellent head, neck and backline. While I was not keen on his forechest, he excelled in back angulation, although in the challenge for B.O.B. movement going away was a little untidy, which may have been due to the ground conditions. Best Dog.

OB (2) 1 Turner’s Ch. Marictur Miss Midnight, beautiful 3 year old b/t bitch which was so well balanced there were no outstanding features. Lovely head and neck, excellent front and a good dept of keel and length of ribbing, nice short hocks and moved like a dream. It was a pleasure to go over her. Best Bitch and B.O.B. 2 McNaughton’s Ch/Aus. Ch. Nicholyer Galadriel (Imp), 4 year old bitch of nice size with good head, neck and backline. Would have liked a more prominent breast-bone. Good mover.
