SMOOTH HAIRED
Many thanks to all you Standard Smooth exhibitors, for such a wonderful entry. Temperaments were gd & I had a choice of many excellent exhibits. Some quality d’s were just not moving as I like, on the day, & I did not always find the extension in movement that I was looking for. Length of upper arm needs attention & a few were too long in second thigh. MPD (2). 1 Dalgety’s Thundergay Archduke. Lovely upstanding b/t, mature for his age & impressive in outline. Had most of the essentials, gd front, well ribbed, gd turn of stifle & moved freely; 2 Burke & Manston’s Bonavoir The Waxies Dargle. Attractive balanced red p giving away a bit in age. A strong firm body with gd quarters. Moved well but preferred the front & topline of 1. PD (3). 1 Norton’s Matzell Master Mariner BP. Smart promising b/t with lovely head & expression, well filled in front, gd ribbing & well angulated rear. Gd top & underline. Moved out v freely, maintaining his topline; 2 Walkley’s Churchoak Cardinal Sin. Attractive chocolate, sound p presenting a gd shape & outline with strong topline, not just the maturity of one. Well rounded, strong quarters. Moved freely but a little close in front action. Preferred the front & width of 1. JD (5). 1 Eales & Tite’s Lauralee The X Factor. Well balanced, elegant b/t with excellent shape & outline. Gd head with lovely expression, well proportioned front, well ribbed with lovely gentle underline. Gd angulated quarters, moved freely with drive; 2 McNaughton’s Cedavoch Galadrim. Close up to 1, quality b/t with gd head, shoulders & reachy neck. So well put together with prominent forechest & gd outline. Well angulated, strong quarters with v positive sound action; 3 Burke & Manston’s Bonavoir Molton Brown. PGD (5). 1 Punter’s Welcumen Kiss Me Quick. Neat b/t d of lovely type & in hard condition. So v well balanced, gd strong well angulated quarters. A sound d, moving truly with style; 2 Joy’s Rosenket Hot Property With Morailsa. Another close decision, chocolate of larger type, v substantial sound d. Thought he was my winner but preferred overall action of 1; 3 Jeffery’s Rosenket Heir Apparent At Andax. LD (5). 1 Eales & Tite’s Lauralee Role Of Honour Via Rijobeau. Sound red d with appealing head & eye, so well constructed with gd front & prominent forechest, strong firm body with gd depth, lovely oval shape & well rounded quarters. Moved soundly with purpose holding a strong outline; 2 Wolages Matzell Milord. Upstanding b/t with lovely head piece. Gd overall construction with firm quarters. Moved out well but I preferred the front action of 1; 3 Carpaccio Black Sabbath. OD (8). What a lovely class & a privilege to judge the one that stood away, for me, today was: 1 Armstrong’s Lauralee Lloyd George. CC, BOB, this d has substance & strength, always standing four square presenting a great outline. Lovely front, prominent forechest & gd length of upper arm. Gd depth with keel carried well back. Excellent width all through with strong hammy quarters & correct rear angulation. A free mover with best extension of the day. I was delighted that this win made him up & thrilled to see him go BIS; 2 Lusk’s Cedavoch Celebdil RCC. A quality balanced b/t of smaller type than 1. Gd head, reach of neck & neat shoulders. Well constructed with gd top & underline, smart true sound mover, covering the ground with ease; 3 Cooper’s Ch Sontag Simon Le Bone JW. MPB (6). 1 Norton’s Matzell Maid Of Honour BPB. V sound balanced red girl, quite mature for her tender age. Well developed with gd front & rear construction with correct angulation. Moved v soundly both ways holding her firm topline. Hope she will lengthen a little; 2 Dalgety’s Thundergay Magdalena. Substantial b/t of rangier type. Gd head, neckline & shoulder. A soundly constructed girl with a lovely outline, gd free mover, a v close decision. Just preferred overall balance of 1; 3 Burke & Manston’s Bonavoir Clonmore. PB (4). 1 Turner’s Marictur Uptown Madam. Well grown elegant b/t b. Gd head & expression with reachy neck, gd shoulders & ribbing. Liked her overall shape, gd top & underline with well angulated rear. Scored on maturity & more co-ordinated stylish movement; 2 Bethel’s Hampdach Dulcina. Lovely attractive red with so much to like. I was splitting hairs with this decision. Lovely head, gd reach of neck & correct shoulder. V feminine, well constructed young lady with firm topline & well angulated, rounded quarters. I’m sure they will change places. Today I was just more together on the move; 3 Punter’s Welcumen Returned Kiss. JB (7). Two lovely clear red girls in this class. 1 Bethel’s Hampdach Alinga. Quality red with lovely feminine head & expression of sound construction & presenting a v clean outline. Overall action was better than 2 but when considering the top honours she was a little close when coming towards me; 2 Gatheral-Graham’s Phaeland Special Delivery. Loved this girl, what beautiful lines she had, long, low & level with gd bone & substance. Thought she would be my winner but her movement was rather untidy & lost out to 1 in this department. Would like to see her on another day, perhaps on grass; 3 Melbourne’s Lauralee Take That To Melriding. PGB (7). 1 Eales & Tite’s Rijobeau Ready To Rumble. Another quality b/t from this kennel. A sound girl with gd head & eye, I liked her length & beautiful outline. Well handled & best mover in the class; 2 Hinwood & Little’s Longmel Double Truffle. Another gd one, v neat feminine, balanced girl with reachy neck & gd outline. Gd head with sweet expression, firm body & well ribbed. A close decision but lost out to 1 on topline & movement; 3 Gatheral Graham’s Phaeland Special Devotion. LB (9). 1 Armstrong’s Lauralee Single Girl CC. Upstanding elegant b/t girl of excellent type & similar to DCC winner. Lovely neck, shoulders & front. Feet well placed under body, gd breadth & strong quarters. Moved freely, covering plenty of ground & holding her outline; 2 Rawson & Walkleys Churchoak Chit Chat With Rosenket. V neat, well balanced, feminine girl with lovely shape & gd construction all through. Plenty of substance & gd bone. Just preferred the extra drive & extension of 1; 3 Thundergay Surely Charmed. OB (8). 1 Turner’s Ch Marictur Miss Midnight RCC. What a lovely girl, so feminine & well put together. V well balanced, lovely top & underline. A sound steady mover, holding a gd topline. In the challenge I preferred the extra extension of winner; 2 Rawson-Walkley’s Churchoak Hot Gossip About Rosenket. Sound, solid, dark, chocolate with gd front & width all through. Lovely oval shape & well rounded quarters with gd rear angulation. Just preferred action of 1; 3 Dalgetty’s Ch Thundergay Lady Be Good.
