SMOOTH-HAIRED
My sincere thanks to all concerned for making this a
pleasant and interesting day. The breed seems to be in good hands at the moment.
The overall quality was good. My main concern was hindquarters, in some cases
cow hocks were alarming and gave a weak and swaying hind action. I think in a
long backed, deep keeled breed the conformation of hindquarters is of prime
concern. I found this problem mainly in the young dogs. The bitches were
consistently sound. There were a few suspect bites but heads, fronts, shoulders,
feet, ribcages and level backs will stand the breed in good stead for the
future. In my two CC winners I found real quality and was pleased to learn that
the dog BOB was shortlisted in a strong Hound group. The bitch CC was just into
Junior, was an absolute gem and I shall be watching her progress with great
interest.
PD (6,1) 1 Walkley’s Churchoak Red Adair. Good lay of shoulders and a sound
front with a nice keel. A little apprehensive which time will help. Sound hind
action. 2 Cooper and Kerry’s Sontag Sir Cumference of Kireton. Similar remarks
to the winner. Just preferred the quarters of 1. Nice ribcage. 3 Armstrong’s
Lauralee Golden Boots.
JD (3,1) 1 Walkley’s Churchoak Cardinalsin. Very pleasing character.
Super front assembly with a nice head and feet. Level topline. 2 Norton’s
Matzell Master Mariner. B/T of smaller frame and a little loose all over.
Controlled road work might help.
PGD (6,1) 1 Eales’ Lauralee the X Factor. Very nice b/t. Good and well
carried head. Shoulders well placed and best hind action. 2 Jeffery’s Rosenket
Heir Apparent at Andax. Another one of quality. Similar remarks to the winner
and ran him very close. 3 Jones’ Adnerbs Mystification.
LD (7,1) 1 Punter’s Welcumen Kiss Me Quick. Liked this well balanced b/t.
Has excellent quarters used well on the move. Shoulders, head and feet all up to
standard. 2 Hunt’s Carpaccio Black Sabbath. Nice type with proud head carriage.
His hind action could be stronger. 3 Tite and Eales’ Lauralee Role of Honour via
Rijobeau.
OD (4,1) 1 Armstrong’s Ch Lauralee Lloyd George. A strong class of three
worthy Champions. The winner has balance and qualoty in all departments. Dog CC
and I was pleased to know he was shortlisted in a very strong group. 2 Cooper’s
Ch Sontag Simon le Bone. JW. Excellent front assembly. Ran the winner very
close. 3 McCarthy’s Ch Seatris Laced with Success.
PB (11) 1 Cooper’s Sontag Celia Fate. Super class of promising young ladies
who will change places often, I am sure. The winner has elegance, balance, a
sweet head and excellent hind action. Should go far. 2 Walkley’s Churchoaks
Modesty Blazes. Pleasing youngster with very sound front assembly. Moved with
assurance. 3 Hunt’s Carpaccio Precious Pearl.
JB (6,1) 1 Norton’s Matzell Maid of Honour. A really stunning young
lady, so feminine. Not overdone in any department and I couldn’t take my eyes
off her. Her composure and elegance were overwhelming. I had no hesitation in
awarding her the CC. 2 Jesse’s Hampdach Mistical. Was unlucky to come up against
the winner. She too has quality all over. 3 Jones’ Matzell Moon’s Maiden Voyage
with Indizak.
PGB (3) 1 Jones’ Phaeland Secret Diva to Adnerb. Won this class easily.
Her feet could be tighter but a good ribcage, strong back and excellent hind
action won her through. 2 Britt’s Undeg Starlight von Ryepiece. Pretty b/t.
Lovely head and sound movement. 3 Davis’ Adnerb’s Be Friended.
LB (5,1) 1 Rawson and Walkley’s Churchoak Chit Chat with Rosenket. Super
front assembly, feminine head, good feet and turn of stifle. 2 Bethel’s Hampdach
Alinga. Has a nice head, carried proudly. A little narrow in front but used her
quarters in her good movement. 3 Mitchell’s Dubreys Dora the Explora.
OB (3) 1 Armstrong’s Lauralee Single Girl. Full of quality with excellent
front assembly. Good ribs, strong level back, sound positive movement. Just
lost out to the youngster by a narrow margin. Res CC. 2 Rawson’s Laurtom First
Edition from Sunhaze. Sound with a good neck and shoulders, nice length. Just
lost out to the winner’s excellent movement. 3 Adams’ Rosanport Cracklin Rosie.
