SMOOTH HAIRED
The weather for this show was glorious today,
the first year Driffield had this venue it was really wet and muddy underfoot,
the second year was gale force, freezing winds but this year was just like a
summers day, excellent. Well done to the Committee for a well run show. My first
impressions of this variety is back ends, exhibits would look OK from side
elevation but going away from you some were either very loose from the hocks
down or toeing in badly. My main winners’ however had no such problems. The
quality is certainly in the bitches. I was looking for balance, a good reach of
neck so they can readily get their nose to the ground, excellent front assembly
coupled with lovely quarters (I do like a lovely rounded rump), this makes for a
hound that can work all day without tiring, a good length and depth of ribbing
to protect all their vital organs and of course a lovely top line.
PD (1)1 McNaughton’s Cedavoch Born to Boogie – Beautifully balanced,
lovely head and expression, good reach of neck flowing into well laid shoulders,
lovely front assembly, good pro-sternum and depth of forechest, nice top line,
needs to settle in hind movement. BPD
JD (3)1 Bethel’s Hampdach Pyrrus – Lovely, beautifully balanced,
masculine head without being course, good reach of neck flowing into well laid
shoulders. Lovely front assembly, good length and depth of ribbing, plenty of
heart and lung room. Lovely topline, well rounded rump, excellent hind
angulation and drive. Delighted to award him RCC, pushed CC winner hard. I
understand he has three RCC’s should think it won’t be long before he gets his
title. 2 Williams Lauralee Charles Dickens at Cwmdarhian – Good head neck and
pro-sternum, good top line, feet are not good, nails need cutting. 3 Jones’s
Matzell Megson with Indizak
PGD (2) 1 Linnacre Cavalleria Rusticana – Not moving properly on the
wet grass, good head and neck, good lay of shoulder , nice top line, length and
depth of ribbing, good hind angulation. 2 Higgins Midnight Harbour for Leveliss
– Nice head, would prefer more reach of neck, not enough pro-sternum.
LD (5) One of the exhibits in this class had flanges. 1 Rawson’s
Rosenket Kaptain Kirk – Beautifully balanced, masculine head without being
course, lovely reach of neck flowing into well laid shoulders, good pro-sternum,
length and depth of ribbing, good spring of rib, plenty of heart and lung room,
excellent top line, comes towards you true, keeping equal distance apart fore
and aft. Lovely rounded rump, with excellent hind angulation. Used the ring well
CC well done. 2 MacDonald’s Carpaccio Black Out at Bensarka – There’s a lot to
like about this dog, everything in the right place, just did not have the runoff
over rump for me. 3 Eales & Tite’s Lauralee The X Factor
OD (2) 1 Cooper’s Ch Sontag Simon Le Bone – Lovely head, would prefer
more neck, good shoulders, top line, excellent front assembly, good length and
depth of ribbing, well sprung ribs. Keeps equal distance apart coming and going,
really uses his quarters. 2 Eales & Tite’s Ch. Lauralee Role of Honour Via
Rijobeau – Another nice one, just moving a bit close behind, but a lot to like
about him.
PB (4) This was a lovely class of babies, I was spoilt for choice, all
of them in this class were moving well 1 Locket Walters Ralines Rumour has it –
Beautifully balanced and proportioned, lovely head with melting expression,
excellent reach of neck flowing into well laid shoulders, lovely front assembly
with good length and depth of ribbing, lovely top line, lovely rounded rump,
hind angulation is wonderful, really uses her hocks and drives through. Used the
ring to her advantage. This young lady could do a days’ work and never tire, so
well put together BP & RBCC well done. 2 Mitchell’s Cedavoch Lets Boogie with
Bronia – Another one I really liked, much of the same applies, just unfortunate
her undercarriage was down rather a lot, so spoilt the picture somewhat. 3
McNaughton’s Cedavoch I love to Boogie
JB (6) Lovely class 1 Rawson’s Churchoak Some Like it Hot at Rosenket –
Another beautifully balanced bitch, excellent head neck and shoulders. Good
length and depth of ribbing, nice rounded rump, lovely hind quarters, used the
ring to her advantage, lovely top line, excellent movement. Liked her a lot. 2
Nevitt’s Churchoak Nun’s Naughtier at Swynol 1st and 2nd are litter sisters, two
stunners from one litter, can’t be bad. Sweet head and expression, good reach of
neck, lovely in all quarters. 3 Coxon & Henningsen’s Cedavoch Boogie on Down at
D’Arisca
YB (4) 1 Hunt’s Ch. Carpaccio Precious Pearl JW – Another
lovely bitch, beautifully balanced, appealing head and expression, good reach of
neck, lovely length and depth of ribbing, good pro-sternum, lovely top line,
excellent hindquarters, keeps equal distance apart coming and going, uses the
ring well. Easy winner in this class. 2 MacDonald’s Hampdach Classic Gold at
Bensarka – Not much to choose between 2nd and 3rd, could change places another
day. 3 Jones’s Hampdach Rich Returns with Indizak
PGB (1) 1 Nevitt’s Rafthouse Charmes at Swynol. Appealing head
and expression, good length of neck, dips behind withers.
LB (4) 1 Rawson’s Rosenket Krystal Singer – She just filled my eye,
lovely in all quarters, beautifully balanced, lovely head and expression,
beautiful reach of neck flowing into well laid shoulders, lovely length and
depth of ribbing, plenty of heart and lung room, excellent pro-sternum, keeps
equal distance apart coming towards you and going away, drives on the rear, and
all this beautiful frame is carried on well padded feet, so important for the
breed, for me she is stunning, paints my ideal picture, nothing exaggerated just
all well proportioned BCC & BOB well done. 2 McNaughton’s Cedavoch Sincerity –
smaller type, good head, neck and shoulders. Good top line, pro-sternum, length
and depth of ribbing. 3 Otter & Wilson’s Come Dancing with Portalutra
OB (2) 1 Bethel’s Ch. Hampdach Alinga – Another nice one, good head
neck and shoulders, good top line, nice length and depth of ribbing, keeps equal
distance apart coming and going. 2 Norton’s Ch Matzell Maid of Honour – Good
head, would prefer more neck, good top line, nice rounded rump.
