STANDARD SMOOTH

I would like to thank the committee for the invitation to judge Standard Smooths for the first time with CC's. I feel I must mention the rear quarters of many of the exhibits. Where have the hammy quarters gone? Also so very many exhibits were very unsound in rear action. Breeders need to keep a very close eye on this problem. Heads also need to be closely watched. Roman noses, round eyes and a lack of expression is creeping in. Mouths were excellent and temperaments on the whole were good.  MPD. (1). 1. Ellis's, Tealby Red Between the Lines. Just a baby but has promise. Good head and eye. Adequate front, tight elbows. Moved soundly and well for one so young. PD. (2). 1. Ellis's, Tealby Red Between the Lines. BPD. 2. Adams', Chaliss Cletic Gold. 9 months old b/t. Head ok. Could have better length of rib. Hind action ok. JD. (5,1). 1. Tite's, Rijobeau Hot on Ya Heels. B/t of overall good proportions. Moved soundly and well. Loved his head. 2. Armstrong's, Layralel Dalileo. B/t. Too low to ground for me. Needs more length of leg. Moved with verve. PGD. (3,1). 1. Norton's, Matzel Man of the Moment. Red boy with very good angles. In a much smaller frome but an excellent mover. 2. Hunt's, Cwmdarhian Hogan's Heor at Carpaccio. B/t biy of the three L's on the stance just not as sound as winner on the move. LD. (9,2). 1. Chauhan's, Hampdach Man in Black. What a gorgeous boy. Correct head and eye, lovely length of neck leading into well angles and set shoulders. Ribs well back and strong short loin. Beautiful quarters very well used on the move. Could have moved all day. Just what I was looking for. CC his first, I hope the other two follow soon. Well done. 2. MacDonalds', Bensarka Phoenix Sun. Sh/Red. Good head and eye. Adequate length of neck. Shoulders a little forward placed which effected his movement. Sound behind. OD. (6,1). 1. Tite's, Ch. Rijobeau Caught Red Handed. Sh/r. Lovely type. Very sound mover in both directions. Gorgeous head and neck. Rib and keel well back and good hammy quarters. Very sound. RCC. 2. Natalchenko and Bethel's, Hampdach Famous Rumourz. Red boy of good overall quality but just didn;t want to move on the day. Was sound when he got going but not doing himself any favours. PB. (2). 1. Bethel's, Hampdach Coraline. Red baby at her first show but what a lovely babt. Good all through and shows very good promise. BPB and BP. Well done. 2. Rawson's, Rosenket Nectar of the Gods. B/t of a nice type. Would have preferred stronger hind action. Needs to gain more confidence. JB. (3). 1. Bethel's, Hampdach Copperhead Rose. Very nice type. Slightly taller type, but oh so sound. Excellent shoulders and elbows. Moved very well and covered the ground. 2. Bennett's, Hacienda Outrageous Fortune (Imp). Sh/r. Good head and eye. Fair length of neck. A bit too low to ground for me and a little wide behind but could still mover well. PGB. (5,3). 1. Lovick-Gibbs', Roleta Gamron Wright to Reply. Dark sh/r. Nice type but upright in shoulder which reflected in her front movement. Hind movement was sound. Held topline on the move. 2. Gatheral-Graham's, Phaeland Special Duty. Red bitch which was of good overall quality. Super front and shoulder. Super tight elbows. Moved well. She was just too heavy and too low to ground for me. LB. (8). 1. McNaughton's, Diana De Fermincan (Imp). Very dark sh/r. Absolutely fabulous bitch and so very well put together. Can really move and cover the ground. Very well angulated fore and aft and super length of rib and strong short loin. Was a pleasure to judge her. RCC. 2. Coxon's, Bensarka Golden Garter. Sh/r. Good head, eye and strong mouth. Shoulders well angulated and placed, rib and keel well laid back and strong loin. Well let down quarters. Didn't move as well as she could have and didn't seem too happy. OB. (9). 1. Norton's, Ch. Matzell Mildred. Red. What an outstanding bitch. So very correctly made throughout. She looked an absolute picture in the stance but was even better when she moved. Everything in its correct place and just flowed around the ring with fantastic ground coverage. Well done to her very lucky and clever breeder/owner. She is an absolute credit to you and to the breed. Thank you for bringing her under me. She made my day and to finish off the day she went BIS. Many congratulations. CC, BOB and BIS. 2. Armstrong's, Ch. Lauralee Peeping Fawn. Red. Very nice type. Well made and moved well. Would just prefer a lower tail set. Very unfortunate to meet winner in such glorious form.
