It is a while since I last judged this variety and I was delighted to see
such an improvement in many areas within the breed. Temperament has always been
important to me and apart from one or two the majority were sound and stood
their ground. Mouths were good as were ribcages and the majority had good
movement. Most were in good condition apart from one notable exception and only
a few had dirty teeth and over long nails. Bearing in mind the maxim; 'Fit for
Function', I was looking for an unexaggerated dog with enough forechest but not
overdone and one who had sufficient ground clearance to do the job he was bred
for. Obviously it is going to take a while for this to filter through, but
there was evidence that some kennels have already taken this on board and are
trying to breed a more balanced dog who isn't dragging on the floor or falling
over his forechest. I found it difficult to judge strictly to type as they
varied so much but I rewarded what I considered to be healthy, good looking
dogs who had some attitude and nobility.
PD (3) 1 & Res CC Cooper's Kochanas Celebration Of Hacienda At Sontag.
Shapely 10 month old B/T. He was a little apprehensive on the table but not
overly so and on the ground he was confident to approach. Good sound movement
and he kept his topline at all times. Handsome head. Well off for bone.
Gleaming condition. Promising. 2 Starkey's Carpaccio Jasper For Hamoura. Six
month baby and it showed. B/T of good make and shape. He is what he is, a young
puppy, but will develop in time. 3 Cox, Cobo & Fellows' Ralines Dark Knight.
Sadly lame today.
JD (3) 1 Ellis' Tealby Red Between The Lines. Beat two on up and down
movement, having more drive and being more positive in front. Topline was ok
but can firm a little with more muscle. Lovely head, but a little overdone in
front for me. 2 Wand's Rakish Paddy. Left the ring before the critique. 3
Goad's Thundergay Midnight Cowboy.
PGD (5) 1 Marsh's Marshwick Raincloud. Compact B/T of smaller size.
Beat two on movement and muscle tone. Not too overdone in front. Level topline
with rise over loin. Confident. 2 Jesse & Jordan's Rill Scaramouche. Carrying a
little too much weight and therefore lacked a little muscle tone. Could show
more verve and enthusiasm in his showing. 3 Jones' Hampdach Who Made Who For Adnerb.
LD (5) 1 Jeffrey's Carpaccio Summer Class At Andax Sh.CM. Mature B/T
who out moved two. Showed with verve and style. Strong well muscled not
overdone in front and kept a level topline. Would prefer a shade more ground
clearance for preference. 2 Furber's Gameron Smart Choice To Dorysa. Shapely
exhibit with very good temperament. Pity his handler could not move him a
little faster to get the best out of him. 3 Armstrong's Lauralee Galileo.
Really liked but sadly a little anxious.
OD (5) 1 & CC Hunt's Cwmdarhian Hogan's Hero At Carpaccio. B/T of big
enough stature. Not too over done in front but for me would ideally like a tad
more ground clearance. Very well handled to get the best out of him and give
him confidence. Good tight feet, well off for bone, level topline and positive
movement. Lost BOB to the bitch as I preferred her elegance and neck. 2
Macdonald's Bensarka Phoenix Sun. Completely different type to one. Red with
lovely head, and despite having a rather high tailset he kept his topline.
Confident and moved out well. 3 Goad's Rosanport The Illusionist.
PB (5) 1 &BP Group 4 Mcnaughton's Cedavoch Eindackel Lucretia Black.
Lovely type of puppy who still needs to gain confidence as she did shy away on
the floor as did all the exhibits in this class. However I preferred her less
exaggerated front over two. Was really pleased to hear she gave a good account
of herself in the puppy group. Predict a good future as her confidence grows. 2
Norton's Matzell Maid In Time. Very much a baby and as yet hasn't the head or
muscle of the winner. Good type and with confidence should do well. 3 Hunt's
Carpaccio Black Pearl.
JB (4) 1 Higgins' Leveliss Drink Down The Moon. Red with slightly
patchy coat. Well balanced angles at both ends and not over done in front. Out
moved two. Liked her head and type. 2 Lovick-Gibbs Amlida Wright Design For
Roleta. Super temperament on this B/T. Rather small head for body and a shade
too low for me but a gorgeous bitch that appeals in other departments. 3
Marsh's Rill Royal Romance With Marshwick.
PGB (3,2) 1 Furber's Roleta Constant Reminder To Dorysa. Rather lacks
confidence which is a shame, but she did allow me to touch her when stacked a
the end and so was awarded first place as she has many other attributes. Liked
her type and shape.
LB (4) 1 Turner's Marictur Moulin Rouge. Red of lovely size. Excellent
movement and kept her topline. Bit over done in front for me but good type. 2
Ellis' Tealby Tittle Tattle. B/T bigger than one and longer throwing the
balance off slightly. Tail set a touch high. Still moved with drive and
purpose. 3 Lovick-Gibbs Roleta Gameron Wright To Reply.
OB (10) Best class of the day both numerically and in overall quality.
Many lovely bitches could have been placed higher on another day. 1, CC, BOB,
Group 2 Henningson's Bensarka Sunkissed Sky. Red with glorious neck and
shoulder. Not overdone in front. Has a little ground clearance that allows her
to really move out and show some drive and power. Confident and a showgirl with
attitude. Handled so well to get the best out of her. Apparently this is her
third CC so well done to you. 2 & Res CC Higgins' Leveliss What She Said. B/T
another with a little ground clearance and good movement. Slightly over done in
front for me which swung it in favour of one. Good feet, head and topline. 3
Macdonald's Am Ch Hampdach Classic Gold At Bensarka.
