Having not judged this variety for several years
I was delighted to see a big entry of confident and sound dogs with a lot of
exceptionally good exhibits, overall balance was good and temperaments were much
improved on what I remember from a few years ago. I was delighted to see the BOB
winner, who I gave her third CC on the day, take the BIS award and the
delightful Champion Veteran take the best Veteran in Show award. A very
satisfying and enjoyable days judging, many thanks to the committee of the Great
Joint for inviting me to judge again and to the exhibitors for giving me such a
good entry of lovely dogs. MPD (2) 1 McNaughtons Cedavoch
Sanquhar, very balanced long low and level red puppy with a lot to like about
him. Moved with confidence and held an excellent outline on the move. Strong
front and good shoulder placement and hind angulation - beat his litter sister
for Best Puppy on movement - needs to fill out a little in front but will be one
to watch in the future. Best Puppy in Breed. 2 Stringfellows Sontag Silvan
Sorcerer, another overall sound red of good proportions for me a little taller
than I would prefer at this age. PD (3) 1 Higgins Leveliss
Saucy Sailor. Very nice B/T slightly taller type but with excellent balance,
very strong in front and moved with drive. Excellent hind angulation and tight
elbows. 2 McNaughtons Cedevoch Strachur. Nicely balanced smaller type still a
baby and needs to tighten in front. Excellent outline and another puppy from an
obviously very strong litter from this exhibitor who always has great type and
excellent outlines in all her exhibits - another to watch in the future. 3
Bethel & Gaskins Hampdach Too Hot To Hold. JD (5) 1 Gatheral-Grahams
Phaeland Star Double - Smaller but very well constructed B/T. Excellent front
construction and shoulder placement. Great outline when standing and moving just
needs a little more confidence on the move. Great depth of keel and turn of
stifle - will do well. 2 Armstrongs Lauralee Sadlers Wells, larger red who moved
better than the first but lost out on overall construction. Great topline and
hind angulation - for me slightly upright in shoulder but overall a nice
exhibit. 3 Andison & Peels Rijobeau Rum And Raisin. YD (1) 1
MacDonalds Bensarka Cosmopolitan, very well put together red, good front and
depth of keel, nice shoulder placement, strong topline and good hindquarters
with nice hind angulation, moved well. PGD (4) 1 Nortons
Matzell Man Of The Match, very eye catching red, beautiful type balanced without
been exaggerated in any area. Great overall front construction through a strong
level topline, nice length of ribbing into excellent hind quarters with super
angulation leading to an excellent powerful movement. Outline held at all times.
Lovely head and eye, lovely head carriage and in the challenge impressed me
greatly beating the eventual res CC winner on movement. Delighted to award him
his first CC. 2 Seago & Gibbards Amlida Dramatiker, another eye catching red of
similar type to winner, very well balanced with good movement and strong hind
quarters, just preferred the front of the winner but one who I am sure will do
very well. 2 great dogs to go over. 3 Cox, Cobo-Pinto & Fellows Ralines Dark
Knight. LD (6) 1 Starkeys Carpaccio Jasper from Hamoura,
smaller type, well constructed with a nice tight front and good overall balance.
Tight elbows and good hind quarters, best movement in the class - close between
1st and 2nd. 2 Gaskins Hampdach Take It To The Limit With Dovestream - red
slightly larger type of sound construction overall. Nicely balanced and moved
well. Just beaten on overall movement on the day. 3 Ellis Tealby Red Between The
Lines. OD (9) 1 Rawsons Rosenket Nostra Damus - Very nicely put
together B/T, strong topline, excellent turn of stifle and well set shoulders.
Lovely level topline and super head carriage standing and moving. Just preferred
the drive of the CC winner on the day. Pleased to award him the Reserve CC and I
am sure he is another champion in the making. 2 Coopers Ch. Kochana's
Celebration of Hacienda at Sontag - another very nice long low and level exhibit
typical of this exhibitors lovely dogs, lovely overall balance and outline,
strong hind quarters, on the day didn't hold his outline on the move as well as
the winner, worthy champion. 3) Hunts Ch. Cwmdarhian Hogans Hero at Carpaccio.
VD (2) 1 Kerrys Ch. Sontag Sir Cumference of Kireton, nice type, good
balanced dog with strong outline, level topline, strong hindquarters and good
angulation. 2 Jeffreys Rosenket Heir Apparent at Andex. MPB (4)
1) McNaughtons Cedavoch Sornn, beautiful shaded red of great type and lovely
overall balance. Lovely level topline, nice in front and great hind angulation,
an easy winner of this class despite the quality of entries. 3rd of this litter
to impress me, this exhibitor should have lots of fun with these quality puppies
in the future. 2) Coopers Sontag Shanda Leah, equally pleasing red of excellent
type and overall balance. Strong in front nice shoulder placement and hind
angulation, moved well. 3 Hunts Carpaccio Hershey Kisses. PB
(2) 1 Coopers Sontag Shanda Leah. 2 Hones Oxondachs Candy Girl. Nice type but a
little shy on the day, good overall construction but didn't have the topline of
the winner. JB (4) 1) Gatheral-Grahams Phaeland Shy 'N'
Demanding. Lovely B/T litter sister to Junior dog winner. Well balanced, great
topline, long low and level, overall another lovely smooth from this exhibitor,
will do well. 2) Armstrongs Lauralee Lush Lashes - Nice red well balanced
overall, good front construction and moved well. Not quite the hind angulation
of the eventual winner. 3 Andison & Peels Rijobeau Caramel Crisp. YB
(3) 1 MacDonalds Bensarka Cheeky Vimto, what a beautifully balanced bitch,
lovely head and great front construction, excellent topline and superb hind
quarter angulation leading to great movement, a real eye catcher and one to
watch. Impressed me so much in what was an incredibly strong challenge. In the
end just pipped the veteran winner in the final line up and delighted to award
her the Reserve CC in an entry of excellent bitches. 2 Hunts Ch. Carpaccio
Cognac Diamond, nice exhibit from a kennel who have established a good type,
good balance and strong overall outline, moved well, just preferred the tighter
front of the winner and overall angulation behind, moved well. 3 Andison & Peels
Rijobeau Cookies & Cream. PGB (9) Chauhans Honey Crisp of
Raajput. Lovely shaded red, just my type, long low and level with great hind
angulation and sound front shoulder placement, moved really well and challenged
very hard for a top award - I am sure this bitch will win many top awards in the
future. 2 Raggetts Silandajo Red Hotter, another lovely exhibit, great overall
outline with strong front and hindquarters, on the day not as settled both on
the table or on the floor as the winner but a worthy 2nd in a strong class. 3
Higgins Leveliss Drink Down The Moon. LB (3) 1 Burke & Manstons
Bonavoir Testa Rossa - red of good overall balance and type, moved well and
preferred the lower outline to the 2nd. 2 Rawsons Rosenket Queen Of Hearts,
another lovely exhibit from this kennels and this was a close call, although
very well constructed just preferred the overall outline of the eventual winner.
OB (8) A very strong class of great exhibits. 1 Seago & Gibbards Amlida
Evora, in my opinon a very hard to fault exhibit. Beautiful B/T of good size,
great balance on the table and on the move. Superb front construction, shoulder
placement, topline, hindquarters and great hind angulation leading to the best
movement of all the exhibits. Lovely head and good eye, superb topline and depth
and sweep of keel. She looked very impressive both on the table and on the move.
In this strong class and depth of quality within the bitches was delighted to
award her the CC which I understand was her third making her an extremely worthy
Champion. I would have loved to taken her home with me! Congratulations to this
exhibitor for great handling and hope she goes on to win many more top awards,
delighted to see her take the Best in Show award. 2 Nortons Matzell Ch. Matzell
Maid In Time - another excellent exhibit from this kennel, slightly lighter type
but lovely construction, great outline and another super mover. Lovely topline
at all times a worthy champion, just preferred the overall balance and type of
the winner on the day. 3 Gatheral-Grahams Phaeland Special Duty. VB
(3) 1 Nortons Ch. Matzell Maid Of Honour, such a lovely type, long low
and level, excellent topline, hind angulation and front shoulder placement. Held
her lovely outline throughout and challenged very hard for the top awards, just
missing out on the day for the Res. CC to a very strong yearling class winner.
Great strength in type and quality from this exhibitor. 2 Higgins Matzell Misty
Morning over Leveliss, another very nice B/T, good balance, nice front
construction but not quite the hindquarters of the winner. 3 Turners Ch.
Marictur Uptown Madam.
