PD (4) 1 Gatheral-Graham’s Phaeland Star Double, 7½ months b/t of excellent type, balance & full of quality. Beautiful head & expression, well filled front with good angles front & back, nicely ribbed & bodied, sound mover with by far the best hindquarters in the class. Just needs to develop in confidence but in the challenge matched the CC winner so well & won his first RCC; 2 Tite’s Rijobeau Rum and Raisin,9 months red with slightly more extreme head type & longer coupled. Tends to stand a little sickle hocked & bring his tail up but still has a certain smartness about him on the move; 3 Armstrong’s Lauralee Saddlers Wells. JD (2) 1 Coxons Bensarka Incognito, high stationed 16 months red with a certain presence about him. Rather elongated head, very pronounced keel, a little long coupled & stands rather weakly behind. Still moved quite true & held himself well; 2 Cocker’s Phaeland Shared Dream, 8 months b/t carrying a little too much weight. Preferred his head & expression to 1 but he moves very wide in front & wasn’t quite as coordinated on the go-around. Slimmed down & schooled he can have many better days. OD (3) 1 Cooper’s Kochana’s Celebration of Hacienda at Sontag, b/t with beautiful head & expression & naturally proud bearing, very well constructed with sensible keel, excellent bone & rib, fit hard condition, ideal balance of outline, sound & steady mover with great presence. Won his third CC with ease & also BOB. A very worthy ch; 2 Gatheral-Graham’s Phaeland Screw Driver, rather more streamlined red, longer head, neck & body. Well covered, good length of second thigh, moved quite true; 3 Armstrong’s Lauralee Galileo.
PB (4) 1 Gatheral-Graham’s Phaeland Shy n Demanding, 7½ months b/t of excellent type & correct balance. Well contoured head, could have a slightly neater eye, well boned & ribbed, firm topline, correctly angulated fore & aft, sound mover, just needs to develop her panache; 2 Armstrong’s Lauralee Lush Lashes, 9 months beautifully turned out red of a slightly more extreme type. Elegant head, pronounced keel, longer coupled than 1 & not so pleasing in topline & croup. Moved very smartly; 3 Tite’s Rijobeau Cookies And Cream. JB (2) 1 Hunt’s Carpaccio Diamond, 13½ months choc/t of quality. Well balanced head, ample keel, good bone & rib, firm topline, very well covered. Tends to stand cow hocked on the table but moves true; 2 Armstrong’s Lauralee Alexandrandrova, 8 months red giving a lot away in age, especially as she is a shade longer cast than 1. Very elegant head, plenty of keel, well boned, a little sickle hocked & not as well ribbed back as 1. Moved with some style. PGB (1) 1 McNaughton’s Cedavoch Lucretia Black, b/t of excellent type & size, quality head, well filled front, nicely ribbed back but coat a little hormonal. Tends to stand a little cow hocked on the table but goes away dead true though she can tighten in front. Going around topline tends to run up a little. LB (1) 1 Norton’s Matzell Maid In Time, classy red with refined head, very striking outline, nicely balanced with good keel, rib & croup. Fit & hard, moves dead true up, down & around & it was her free & easy ground-covering movement that won for her a second CC. Should finish easily. OB (7) 1 Bennett’s Hacienda Outrageous Fortune at Shardaroba, high quality red, feminine head, very well put together & in no way excessively lengthy like so many. Carrying plenty of body, she could possibly lose a pound to advantageous in view of her relative compactness. Showed smartly but did not have the reach & drive of the CC winner but her overall merits warranted the RCC; 2 Turner’s Marictur Moulin Rouge, another good red who held her outline at all times, a little more dramatic in underline than 1 & preferred some of her head details but she has great carriage; 3 Norton’s Ch Matzell Mildred.
