Before I start, I must thank my two fantastic stewards. They were invaluable. Although there were few standard smooth males entered, the quality was good. I could have done with extra CCs. I do think, of all the Dachshund varieties, the Standard Smooths have held onto the typical heads the best.

JD(2) 1 McNaughton's Cedavoch Strachur. Elegant red with lovely head and outline. Balanced, very free and sound mover. Lots of ring presence. Res CC. 2 Maskell's Clentry Monster Mash At Brownbank. 10 month old black/tan. Bigger type. Preferred quarters of winner. At the minute, a little loose in front, but only a baby yet.

LD(1) 1 McNaughton's Cedavoch Sanquhar. Another classic type from this kennel. Red, with classic head and outline. Unexaggerated. Everything just slotted into place. Easy mover.

OD(2) Only two in this class, but was delighted with both. 1 Rawson's Rosenket Nostra Damus. Powerful black/tan. Could not be anything but a male. Handsome dog who owns the ring. Sound, positive mover. CC. 2 Gatheral-Graham's Ch/Am Ch Phaeland Screwdriver. Classic type, with lovely head and expression. Good quarters, moved very well.

PB(3, 1) 1 Rawson's Rosenket Super Trouper. 10 month old chocolate. Very mature. Good quarters and topline. Best Puppy. 2 Morgan Aitken's Morailsa Secret Romance For Demorgan. 6 month old black/tan baby. Very elegant and dainty.

JB(4) 1 McNaughton's Cedavoch Sornn. 14 month red, in glowing condition. Lovely lines, and nice size. Like her brother, beautiful head and expression. Moved with panache. Just has that something extra. CC & BOB. 2 Andison & Peel's Sontag Sue Cherself. Red of lovely type. Good quarters and outline. Moved really well. 3 Cooper's Sontag Shanda Leah.

PGB(2) 1 Gatheral-Graham's Phaeland Shy & Demanding. Black/tan who kept taking my eye. Lovely size and type. Moved very well. Such a classic bitch. Liked her very much. Res CC. 2 Hunt's Carpaccio Hershey Kisses. Eyecatching chocolate bitch. Good size. Preferred quarters of winner.

LD(2) 1 Dalgety's Thundergay Bebop A Lula. Black/tan I've judged before and liked. What I particularly liked were her hammy quarters. Soundly constructed. Moved well. 2 Rawson's Rosenket Queen Of Hearts. Chocolate of bigger type. Liked her outline and head. Not quite as settled as winner.

OB(7, 1) Difficult class. 1 Turner's Marictur Moulin Rouge. Nice size red, with good, clean lines. Balanced, with everything in its place. Moved and showed the best in the class. 2 Andison & Peel's Ruobeau Done & Dusted. Black/tan in good bloom. Liked her type. Carrying a little too much weight, at the minute. 3 Dalgety's Thundergay Delta Dawn.
