I was pleased to judge the Standard Smooths, at this well organised and friendly show, and enjoyed my day very much, and sincere thanks go to my most efficient steward, and to the exhibitors for their entries. There were some lovely, top quality hounds there, who were a credit to their owners, and some decisions were difficult and very close. Temperament  was  good, except some of the youngsters could have been a little bolder on the table, and I felt that table work training would help this, so that future judges can see the confidence and quality of these hounds. Some nails needed to be trimmed, and quite a few teeth were not clean, but on the whole I was most impressed with the variety, and how they have improved generally. I was looking for hounds who, as well as being correctly being constructed, could move out with reach and drive as they went around the ring. MPD (1) 1 Andison & Peel's Clentry Aberdeen Angus. Brindle baby with such a smart name, stood alone but deserved his position. Although rather immature at present, he had a good head and reach of neck and pro-sternum, with super  ribbing, and he was well boned. He needs some practice to show his virtues on the table and in the ring, as rather apprehensive, but once he settles, could do well. Would just prefer to see a little more shoulder angulation and a longer upper arm at this stage, and will be interested to see him when mature. JD (4, 1) 1 Tite's Phaelad Special Driver At Rijobeau. S/r,  super quality exhibit, who stood out in this class, with lovely head, neck, and correct front construction, and with excellent shoulder placement. His good angulation on his quarters, gave him an excellent outline on the move,  easily the best mover in this class, moving well in all directions, one to watch. 2 Graham's Morailsa Return To Sender To Gameron. B/t with good head, eye and reach of neck, and with very well developed front and ribbing. He was a little long in loin for me and rather wide as he moved away, but still a nice quality hound. 3 Seago and Gibbard's Amlida Aston. YD (4) 1 Seago & Gibbard's Amlida Spirit. Choc, quality exhibit with nice head and reach of neck, and with ribbing reaching well back. He moved well going around, but I would just prefer to see a little more angulation on his quarters. 2 Gatheral Graham's Phaeland Secret Detective. Super s/r dog, so well constructed all through, but just didn't want to show himself off today, but I liked him very much. 3 Starkey's Carpaccio Topic Of The Day Is Hamoura. PG (2) 1 Andison & Peel's Shardaroba Indian Wedding. S/r, I really loved this dog as soon as I saw him, and found him so well proportioned and balanced all through. Correct head and eye and reach of neck, leading to well set shoulders and super ribbing. Not too long in loin, and with well angulated quarters and good feet, he moved truly and freely, both coming and going and kept his outline at all times, and stood out in the challenge. CC. 2 Jeffery's Carpaccio Swan Song At Andax. B/t, well assembled on the front, and nicely ribbed, but not quite enough angulation on the quarters for me. Rather reluctant to show himself today, but perhaps the noise didn't help him and a little more table work might just help too. LD (4, 1) 1 Norton's Matzell Man Of The Match. S/r. Top quality hound, well balanced and correctly constructed all through, with lovely head, well laid shoulders and  with super ribbing, not overlong in loin, and well angulated on the hocks. He moved well, and I liked him very much. In the challenge, just not quite the drive of the winner as they went around the ring, but well deserved RCC. 2 Gatherall Graham's Phaeland Seal The Deal. B/t with good head, correct layback of shoulder and so well ribbed. His quarters were well angulated also, but unfortunately he was rather reluctant to show himself off to advantage as he moved. 3 Bethel & Gaskin's Sobhahli Sham Prezent President To Hamdach Sh Ch (Imp Rus). OD (9) 1 Seago & Gibbard's Ch Amlida Dramatiker. I liked this s/r dog very much indeed, very correctly constructed in all departments, with superb front, ribbing and angulation, and good quarters. His movement in the class was true in both directions, and his outline was excellent, but unfortunately the change of handler in the challenge rather unsettled him, and we did not get a repeat performance as he went round the ring in the challenge. 2 Armstrong's Lauralee Nicholas Nickleby. B/t, full of quality, with lovely head, reach of neck and correctly assembled front and shoulders. He had good ribbing and moved well, and was shown to advantage, but I just preferred the rear angulation of first. 3 Higgins' Levelis Saucy Sailor. VD (2) 1 Furber's Gameron Smart Choice To Dorysa. Well constructed, nice 7 yr old b/t, with good head and front construction, ribbing, underline, and super temperament. She covered the ground really well. I would only prefer possibly a little less weight. BVIB. 2 Graham's Gameron Simply Red. Not quite the overall quality of first, but this s/r had a good head, and was well ribbed. Didn't move as well as first going around, and a little wide coming towards for me. MPB (1) 1 Hughes' Morailsa Mystery Magic. Small choc baby, correct shoulders and front construction and nicely ribbed. Needs time to grow on and mature as yet, and also requires practice in walking with her head up and tail down, so that as she moves her topline will follow through, and show her outline to advantage. PB (2) 1 Ansison & Peel's Clentry Red Hot N Smokin. This red  bitch is lovely, correctly put together in all departments, and good bone. A bit naughty, but when she starts to show she looked amazing, and went on to BPIB and RBPIS. 2 Gaskin's Sobahli Sham Harizma Hloya At Dovestream (Imp Rus). Smaller all through than first, this choc puppy had a nice head and front was correct. She was rather wide moving away, and I would just prefer a little more angulation on the quarters. JB (6) 1 Smith, Connor & Sorrell's Lady Godiva V D Mibaf's Hoeve At Conchur (Imp NLD). Choc dapple, super, quite mature little lady, just stole this class for me, as I found her so balanced and well constructed in all departments and with correct angulation, super bone and such good ribbing and very evenly dappled, and so friendly. My type exactly, pleased to award her RCC. 2 Higgins' Leveliss' Hong Kong Garden. Another b/t top quality girl, very nice bitch, who had all the essentials, with lovely head and good front, she was well balanced too with good quarters, and moved really well, keeping her outline and moving true. One to watch, I am sure. 3 Tite's Phaeland Starlite Dancer At Rijobeau. YB (3) 1 Paterson's Phaeland Sent Direct To Ambiesque. Super s/r bitch, sound, full of quality with good head and reach of neck, and excellent ribbing. She was well balanced and moved so well as she went around, and kept a good outline. 2 Norton's Matzell Minella. S/r, quality bitch, with good head, front  and ribbing, a little longer in loin than first, just preferred the  outline and free movement of first on the move. 3 Gatheral's Phaeland Society Dancer. PGB (4, 1) 1 Furber's Dorysa Dolly Varden. Quality sound  bitch with nice head, well ribbed, good shoulders, super temperament, and well boned. Just needs to show herself off a little more, especially when standing, so that her virtues can be appreciated. 2 Lovick Gibbs' Roleta The Lewis Goodbye. Nice s/r girl, with nice head and ribbing, but just not the overall construction and movement of first as they went round together. 3 Hinwood's Longmel Tempting Truffle. LB (8, 3) 1 Bennet's Shardaroba Dream Baby. S/r, super quality bitch, who had the best of fronts, with good head, reach of neck and shoulder placement. Her ribs extended well back and angulation was correct at both ends, and she easily won her class as she moved round the ring. 2 Dalgety's Thundergay Blue Bayou. Nice top quality b/t who is a soundly constructed  bitch, with good type, lovely  head, well laid shoulders  and super ribbing, but unfortunately, she just wasn't showing off on the move today. 3 Hones' Oxendachs Candy Girl. OB (9, 1) 1 Dalgety's Thundergay Bebop A Lula. Classical super, b/t, lovely type, very well balanced and constructed soundly all through, with the best of fronts, lovely head and reach of neck, correct shoulders and ribbing. She completed the picture with firm, well angulated quarters and presented herself perfectly as she moved correctly around the ring, with plenty of drive. Loved her and so pleased to award her the CC and BOB, which I see is her third. well done, and well deserved. 2 Seago & Gibbert's  Ch Amlida Evora. This top quality b/t, deserves similar comments to first, and is also a very soundly constructed hound, and I suspect they will often change places. I liked her very much indeed, but she was just carrying a little extra weight today, but she is a very nice type, and a well deserved champion. 3 Norton's Ch Matzel Maid In Time. Another beautiful  bitch, s/r, with super construction all through, who  moved well, and she is also a very worthy champion. VB (1) 1 Furber's Dorysa Hattitude. B/t, 7 yr old, who was nicely assembled, with good front and shoulders, super ribbing  and correct angulation front  and back. Needs a little less weight for me but very nice.
