Smooth haired Dachshunds

It’s quite some time since I judged this variety so I was rather disappointed by the low entry today.

JD (1,0)

  1. Kerrys’ Kireton Beau Diddley, for me, a bit large, but a sound and active free mover in good coat with good front angulation, good length of ribbing, good outline, correct hind angulation, feet a little flat but won RBD on his profile movement

PGD (2,0)

  1. McNaughton’s Carper Ag Von Nordor (imp FCA) – good class, 2 very nice dogs with no exaggerations, loved this boy for size, shape and soundness, correct topline, super profile movement and gorgeous head and ear, good angulation both ends, so well balanced, correct height to length ratio, one of the nicest smooths I have seen for a long time, BD and BOB

  2. Payton’s Minalsa Mulberry of Marajo, good to go over but not quite as balanced in profile and tended to fall away at croup

LD (1,0)

  1. Stringfellow’s Sontag Silvan Sorcerer, correct sized red dog, tended to roach topline and would prefer stronger underjaw, very sound movement to and fro but would prefer him to move more freely

OD (2,1)

  1. Tite’s Ch Phaeland Special Driver at Rijobeau, good profile stacked but may not have liked floor as not moving as freely as I would like, rather long in loin and could do with more upper arm, this affected his front movement.

PB (3,1)

  1. Hunt’s Lauralee Miss Marple at Carpaccio – BP & BB, 2 correct sized bitches, winner had a lovely profile stacked which she kept, although a little unsettled, on the move, good ribbing and front angulation, would prefer a touch more hind angulation but in better overall condition than

  2. Lucas’ Cwmdarhian Summer Nights, carrying too much weight which affected her freedom of movement, promising bitch with lots to like

JB (1,0))

  1. Kerrys’ Kireton Daisy Belle, lovely size, not overdone in any way, looked really well stacked, good head and eye, just a little short in upper arm which affected front movement in profile, good ribbing, nicely angulated behind and sound to and fro RBB
