To judge Dachshunds is for me like coming back home. Kari and I spent 10 years breeding and showing Miniature Wirehaired Dachshund making up 12 champions on our way. I still miss these wonderful small personalities and I have many happy memories from my time with our Dachshunds and the Dachshund people.

1st: 1581 HUNT Mrs S & Mr J Lauralee Huckleberry Finn At Carpaccio. This young dog was all for me and I liked him a lot. He is well developed in body and very well angulated. He moved well and could have gone all the way if his topline had been stronger.

2nd: 1595 PAYTON Ms C J Minalsa Mulberry of Marajo. Dog of excellent type. Well developed in body. Good keel and outline, but he falls of too much over the croup.

1st: 1572 ARMSTRONG Mr M G Ch Lauralee Nicholas Nickleby. This is a top-quality Smooth Dachshund of classic English type. At first my European eyes thought he was too big, but the more I looked at him the more I liked him. The reason being that Nicholas Nickleby is a very impressive dog with a first-class temperament. When I got him on the table the first thing I saw was his fabulous head and when I went over him I felt a superb front and everything on this dog fitted in so nicely. On the move he impressed me again because he had an excellent reach in front and the correct drive behind. CC & BOS
2nd: 1598 TITE Mr J Ch Phaeland Special Driver At Rijobeau. Another high-class dog which pleased me no end. He is more my type than the winner, but on the day, he was out manoeuvred because he couldn’t quite follow Oscar Wild on the move. I liked his head, he has an excellent front and firm topline which he keeps very well on the move even if I taught he fell off a bit too much over the croup. RCC

2nd: 1583 JONES Mrs & Miss B & C Adnerbs Lexi Get Fizzical JW Sh.CM. Here is another top-quality bitch which impressed me. It was a lot to like about her, but I preferred the attitude of the winner on the move.

1st: 1589 MCNAUGHTON Ms L Cedavoch Rainstorm. This was the queen of the day. This bitch is all for me. She has a nice head which is carried proudly forward on a long muscular, slightly arched neck which is running in graceful lines into her shoulders. She has a robust rib cage with a strong breast bone. She has an excellent topline with a slight curve over the loin. To see this lady move was a pleasure; I was impressed by her free and flowing movements and her long stride with the drive coming from her strong hindquarters. CC & BOB
