D (1)1 & BV, Steel & Aitken’s Proud Hunter Big Mac. 7 years old b/t in lovely coat condition. All male in head and expression, well arched neck, big ribs, level back over a slightly raised loin then well muscled hindquarters. Whilst he is sound enough he just lacked a bit of enthusiasm on the go around - giving me that “been there, done that” look! But a deserved BV.
PD (2) Two lovely red puppies. These two are so similiar in make and shape. Both have beautiful headpieces with the winner having the more confident expression and Struuann looking a bit miserable. Again in make and shape they match so well but whereas the winner stood his ground and moved out with a relaxed, positive and purposeful stride, his opponent was taken around the ring with a distinct lack of enthusiasm. I don’t think he cared for the slightly long grass whilst his adversary oozed confidence. 1 & Res CC, Hunt’s Pelirroja Joined Forces With Carpaccio. 2 McNaughton’s Cedavoch Struuann.
LD (2) 1 McNaughton’s Cedavoch Finwe. Another classically shaped red from this highly successful kennel. This handsomely headed dog is a delight to go over on the table and he did enough to win this class. He has it all but in the challenge something spooked him and that air of bravado just disappeared and he looked thoroughly miserable. I hope he has better days. 2 Heels’ Daxanory Menacing Dennis. Another chap which, for some reason or another, was tense to go over and had that worried look rather than the outgoing positive expression I like to see in the breed. He is stylish, shapely and well constructed but just did not put all in on the move.
OD (2) 1 & CC & BOB, Moes Williams’ Ch Cwmdarhian Rocket Man. I thought this red a very handsome male. Strong head, excellent eyes and expression, super neck, ribs well sprung and carry well back to a firm loin and well angulated hindquarters. Well defined breastbone, shining jacket and sufficient ground clearance to move out with a brisk, purposeful stride. He and his handler were a good team and thoroughly deserved the top spot. Nice to see him short listed in the Group. 2 Hunt’s Ch Lauraless Huckleberry Finn At Carpaccio. Another excellent exhibit from this highly successful exhibitor. Worthy Ch of excellent make and shape, standing quite fills the eye and was immaculate in body and coat. I just preferred the stronger rear action of the two I put over him, with the RCC being his kennelmate!!
VB (1) 1 Borrelli’s Carpaccio Black Pearl. B/t in super coat and condition. Pleasing head, eye now a tad full but still so expressive, good arched neck, so well ribbed, strong backline, and well angulated and muscled hindquarters. Has retained a brisk action.
PB (1) 1 Jenning’s Clentry Sweet Melody. An utterly charming little red bitch whose non stop tail wagging brightened my day! She handles so well on the table, being well ribbed and bodied, ample neck, flowing outline to well muscled hindquarters and her jacket shone with well being. Once settled she moved out fairly well but needs lots of practise but I feel she would be worth it.
PGB (2) 1 Heel’s Daxanory Ravishing Minx. This red is a good make and shape but she is carrying too much bodyweight and would look so much better if slimmed down a tad. She has a pleasing head, very good neck and is firm in outline. Her coat shines with well being and she has a well balanced head. 2 Armstrong’s Owlander First Edition. This red is a smaller version and for me is a tad short in overall length. She has a pleasing head, very expressive eyes and good ears. Shown in sparkling coat she moved out witrh a balanced stride.
LB (3) 1 & Res CC, Tomlinson’s Bensarka Emerald Isle To Melisdar. Ultra feminine in head and expression, this quality bitch scores in reach of neck, layback in shoulder, a good spring of ribs which Her jacket sparkled with well being and she can move out so soundly and purposefully. I think here handler is fairly novice and just hope she can be persuaded to continue showing this nice bitch. 2 Heels’ Daxanory Ravishing Meg. This red was carrying much too much bodyweight causing her underline to be too low and her movement to be hindered. It is a shame as she has a very well balanced head, strong jaws, smooth in cheek and well placed and textured ears. Slimmed down she would so much better. 3 Borrelli’s Philabar The Original.
OB (1) 1 & CC, Moes Williams’ Cwmdarhian Welsh Affair. I see is in the ownership of the BOB winner but not handled by him. This red is ultra feminine in head and expression, long well arched neck, very good sternum, level back, hint of rise over the loin then well moulded croup and strongly muscled hindquarters. She outmoved the other bitches and I was delighted to award her the CC which I am told, is her third. Congratulations - a welcome addition to the rank of titleholders.
