I would like to thank the committee for inviting me along to judge at their show. Thank you also to my stewards who did a fabulous job. Thank you to the exhibitors for their entry and coming along on a ‘four seasons’ weather all in one day. I was so pleased to see a nice entry, condition of all exhibits were good, temperaments were mostly good, a few spooky ones but sadly movement behind was quite poor. I expected to see straight movement, plenty of drive and muscle but sadly I found many exhibits with no muscle, VERY narrow behind, weak second thighs and either no drive or walking on hocks. I find this very worrying. Flat feet, long nails or freshly cut square end nails. There is an art to stacking a dog, it is very uncomfortable to look at hounds which are over stretched behind which in turn makes them sink down, disturbing their toplines and overall balance.

Junior Dog (4,2) 1st – Andison & Peel – Cedavoch Drizzle Of Rain – RCC Attractive male, good head, dark eye of good shape, nice full underjaw and well set ears. Neck was elegant, layback of upper arm was nice, return of upper arm was nearly there. Nice and deep through body, good length of keel. Loin strong. Well angulated rear, good width of second thigh. Topline correct and underline sweeping. Moved well with reach and drive, nice in profile. A promising youngster. 2nd – Binks & McNaughton – Cedavoch Ocean Storm A handsome boy, less mature than 1st. Slightly round in eye for me, prefer more underjaw. Neck of good length and elegant. Layback of shoulder was pleasing. Topline and underline correct, good deep body, ribbing well back and good length of keel. Slightly unsettled on the table and on the move. Just needs some time to mature and get his head in the game. Smart youngster though.

Yearling Dog (2,0) 1st- McNaughton – Ch Cedavoch Struuann – CC It doesn’t surprise me that this boy has his crown at this young age. Very handsome, good head with correct planes, good eye shape, dark eyes, good pigment, decent underjaw, well set ears. Elegant neck flowing into a beautiful shoulder with correct angulation and length of layback and return. Deep chest, long keel, prefer his loin to be slightly shorter and stronger. Well angulated rear with nice width of second thigh. Plenty of bone and muscle .Good feet. He moved well in all directions and held his topline on the move. 2nd – Hinwood – Adnerb Sheer Nanagins At Longmel Very raw youngster. Beautiful masculine head, slightly aquiline profile. Good eye shape, pigment and eye colour pleasing, ears well set and decent underjaw. Neck elegant, front developing, rear angulation was pleasing but prefer a slightly more developed second thigh. Feet good. Topline correct, underline sweeping and pleasing tail set. Moved nicely in profile and coming, not so great going away. Needs some time to grow and mature and work to tighten up on the move.

Post Graduate Dog (2,0) 1st – Lucas – Hampdach Dr Watson A nice handsome boy of good breed type. Handsome head with aquiline profile, eye shape and colour pleasing, nicely set ears, good fill under eye, prefer more underjaw. Fabulous front with good length of layback and return. Keel was long, ribbing carried well back. Topline and underline correct, tail set pleasing. Good width of second thigh, a little long at hock for me which gives him untidy movement going away but beautiful in profile. Handled very well. 2nd – Starkey – Carpaccio Magnum PI At Hamoura Another gorgeous masculine head. Good eye colour and shape, decent underjaw, well set ears although a little short. Elegant neck, good layback but slightly short in return of upper arm. Very deep in ribbing which makes him look a little tucked up, length of keel pleasing, prefer his ribs to be a little more sprung. Loin strong. Well angulated rear, prefer a more developed second thigh which would help his movement going away. Nice in profile.

Limit Dog (3,1) 1st – Heels – Daxanory Manacing Dennis Nice head, good eye shape, pigment and eye colour. Elegant neck, well angulated shoulder but prefer a better length of return, deep chest, keel long enough, ribs carried well back. Well angulated hind quarters, prefer better width of second thigh. Enough bone. Very nice topline and tail set, underline pleasing, loin strong and deep. Very nice in profile and coming but rather untidy going away which is disappointing as a very nice type of hound. 2nd – Lucas – Tramardachs Milkcart Driva Prefer this hounds head, slightly more masculine and aquiline. Good eye shape, eye colour and pigment. Very nice front angulation, chest deep, ribbing long, keel long. Rear angulation was pleasing and width of second thigh. A very nice type, but sadly his topline was very roachy and movement was quite erratic in profile, however, pleasing coming and going.

Open Dog (3,1) 1st – Chauhan – Ch Raajput’s Blacky Returns 2nd – MacDonald – Bensarka Limerick Set up, I prefered the breed type and elegance of 2nd. Head on 1st a little too ‘heavy’ for me, 2nd being a little more refined. Eye shape was good on both, eye colour and pigment pleasing and ear set good. Well angulated shoulders on both, 1st being a little deeper in chest, 2nd having slightly longer keel. Toplines were good on both, preferring the sweeping underline of 1st, loins ok, could be stronger. Rear angulation on both were good. 1st being quite over stretched when stacked, almost on his tip toes. 2nd slightly more balanced when stacked. Width of second thigh on 1st was pleasing, a little long at hock on 2nd. Movement on both was hard to assess as 1st was moved far too fast and 2nd a little slow. Front movement on both coming was good and very poor on both going away. I was pretty disappointed with this class in all honesty, I hope both were just having one of those days!

Puppy Bitch (2,1) 1st – Paterson – Cwmdarhian The Mistress – RCC A beautiful young girl, feminine head but in no way weak, eye shape and colour pleasing, ears well set, head planes good, enough underjaw. Elegant neck flowing into well angulated shoulders, chest deep, prominent prosternum, keel long, ribs carried well back. Topline and underline textbook. Tail set correct. Well angulated rear, well muscled and good width of second thigh. Fabulous temperament, moved in all directions with reach and drive. Very nice breed type, very balanced. Really caught my eye and seriously considered for CC. I look forward to following her progress. Gently handled.

Junior Bitch (7,1) 1st – Jennings – Clentry Sweet Melody Beautiful girl, feminine, good breed type and well balanced. Head lovely, good planes, eye shape and colour pleasing, enough underjaw, ears well set. Elegant neck. Well angulated shoulder, chest deep, ribbing carried well back and long keel. Topline and underline spot on, tail set pleasing. Moved well in all directions with purpose. In my top 3 for top honours, just needs to mature a little. 2nd – McNaughton – Cedavoch Sea Breeze Another feminine girl, pleasing head, slightly round in eye for me, eye colour and pigment good, prefer more underjaw. Elegant neck flowing into a balanced shoulder, chest deep, keel long. Prefer a slightly shorter loin to make her more balanced. Rear angulation was nice, slightly weak in second thigh. Moved ok in profile. Needs time to mature. 3rd – Allen – Zoraden Jemima Puddle Duck

Post Graduate Bitch (1,1)

Limit Bitch (8,4) 1st – Melbourne – Marvale Double Dealing With Melriding Nice breed type. Slightly aquiline head profile which I love, good eye shape and colour, well set ears. Elegant neck flowing into well angulated shoulders, chest deep, keel long enough, loin strong and deep. Rear assembly pleasing, good width of second thigh. Feet ok. Good bone. Moved well in all directions but lacked a little sparkle and ‘oomph’. 2nd – Stark – Adnerb Won Vision Of Gobannium JW Nice girl with slight aquiline head profile but slightly shorter in foreface, enough underjaw. Strong neck, prefer a slightly better angulated shoulder, however good length of return. Chest deep, good ground clearance, long keel, topline and underline spot on. Well angulated rear but lacking in second thigh. Good tail set. Pleasing H-L ratio. Moved well coming and going but lacked a little drive in profile. 3rd – MacDonald – Hampdach Alice Springs At Bensarka

Open Bitch (4,2) 1st – Chauhan – Ch Adnerb Take A Chance On Me At Raajput – CC & BOB Gorgeous head, eye shape and colour pleasing, ear set correct. Elegant neck. Best front and rear of the day, width of second thigh was fabulous. Chest deep but with plenty of ground clearance, keel long and ribs carried well back. Loin strong and deep. Good H-L ratio. Very well balanced, good breed type. Moved very well in all directions showing real reach and drive. Pleasure to judge. 2nd – Rodger – Cedavoch Sophisticate At Thundergay Feminine girl, lovely aquiline head, prefer more underjaw, eye shape and colour pleasing, ears well set. Neck elegant, front well constructed but a set a little far forward making her a tad out at elbow, keel long, a little long in loin for me. Topline and underline nice. Tail set good. With a little more muscle, her rear movement would be better.
