I would like to thank the secretary and the committee of the Driffield Championship Dog Show Society for the opportunity to judge at their show in 2022. Thanks also to my splendid stewards Sue and Martin, without whose courtesy, clear announcements and conscientious attention to detail, I feel sure all would have descended into chaos! Finally, many thanks to all the exhibitors for coming along and allowing me the privilege of going over their dogs.

VD. (1) 1. Starkey’s Ch. Carpaccio Jasper From Hamoura Sh.Cm Jw. Splendid black and tan veteran of eleven years, complete with greying muzzle and remarkably good teeth. Solidly built and beautifully handled he went around the ring like a happy youngster. Well deserved BVIB.

JD. (3) 1. Peel’s Cedavoch Drizzle Of Rain. Well proportioned one year old red boy. Sleek coat, correct shaped head, decent length of neck, ribbing extending well back with good ground clearance. Reasonable, balanced angulation front and rear and steady topline both on the move and standing. 2. Binks’ Cedavoch Ocean Storm. Litter brother to 1 with many of the same attributes. Slightly stronger head and front assembly but not quite as composed as his brother today.

PGD. (1) 1. Starkey’s Carpaccio Magnum Pi At Hamoura. Athletic sixteen month old black and tan dog. Strong head, good length of neck with powerful, well angulated forequarters. Good length of ribbing and good ground clearance. Rear quarters well angulated but perhaps not quite as well muscled as front. Excellent outline on the move but could have been tighter in the rear. RBD.

OD. (4, 1) 1. Twaddle’s Cotherstone Hashtag Sasilasy. Three year old black and tan dog. Good head and eye, well muscled neck and forequarters, prominent prosternum, excellent ribbing extending well along the body to strong, short loin. Deep keel but with adequate ground clearance. Strongly muscled rear quarters with good angulation to balance the front. Moved freely with confidence and kept his topline. BD. BOB. 2. McNaughton’s Ch. Cedavoch Struuann. Attractive twenty months red dog, super head and long strong neck. Well balanced structure with correct proportions. Good angulation front and rear. Moved well with a long, confident stride. A close second to 1, but not quite the muscle tone.

GCD. (1) 1. Starkey’s Ch. Carpaccio Jasper From Hamoura Sh.cm Jw

PB. (2,1) 1. Paterson’s Cwmdarhian The Mistress. Pretty ten month old black and tan puppy. Gleaming coat with correct outline and proportions. Reasonable head with good length of neck and strong, well angled forequarters, complemented by similar rear angulation. Held her topline well both on the move and standing. BB. BP

JB. (5, 3) 1. Morland’s Zoraden Jemima Puddle Duck. Well presented thirteen month black and tan. Good outline with correct head and eye, reasonable length of neck and correct front and rear angulation. Deep ribbing extending well back to a strong loin. She moved out well today maintaining her topline. 2. Roberts’ Cedavoch Blowing a Gale To Swansford.  Attractive, well proportioned one year old red bitch. Correct head and almond shaped eye, strong neck of good length. Good ribbing and steady topline. Reasonable angulation front and rear. She is still a youngster and couldn’t settle today. Sure to improve with time.

PGB. (2, 1) 1. Wood’s Hundpoint Meena Tils. Well-presented black and tan bitch of twenty months. Good head and eye, prominent prosternum. She finally settled for her owner and went around the ring well after being unhappy on the table. RBB.
