988. Dachshund (Smooth-Haired) - Puppy Dog

Entries: 4    Absentees: 0

1ST        2902 - Retrohound Hermes (Mrs K Coupland) the most together in this class of babies. B&T dog that presents a lovely outline when standing. Handsome conical head and keen expression, correct eye. Good depth of chest and prominent keel, good length of ribbing, nice tight elbows, ample ground clearance, well balanced and muscled. Correct padded tight feet. Moved out well once he got going and was sound in both directions. BP.

2ND        2927 - Craimose Adonis (Mr C F Young) a real baby and still needs time to mature all through and drop into himself but he has all the essentials there with a good frame and nice outline when he stands. Correct conical head with keen expression, high set ears, used to advantage. Needs to firm in front slightly and tighten in feet but he has a good length of neck and well laid shoulder. Well ribbed back with short loin. Firm topline and well set tail. Good rear with enough angulation. Moved out well and soundly.

3RD        2924 - Oreo Toy by Milendo (J Vaitekunaite)

989. Dachshund (Smooth-Haired) - Junior Dog

1ST        2899 - Hampdach Lord Flashheart (Miss C L Bethel) appealing black and tan male who presented a nice overall shape on the stance with ground coverage. Masculine conical head with dark keen eye, well rounded high set ears. Good length of neck set into well laid-back shoulders. Elbows tightly fitting close to chest. Firm topline. Well ribbed back with short loin. Well angulated rear angulation. Moved out freely and soundly.

2ND        2896 - Demorgan Silver Sebastion (Mr D Aitken) a very different type of boy, a little longer in leg than I prefer and needs more depth and body all over. Good long head with ears set high. Decent length of neck. Firm topline with good tail set. Sound and accurate on the move and real showman for his owner.

1ST        2921 - Carpaccio Magnum Pi at Hamoura (Mrs W Starkey) Bl/T, well balanced all through with correct height to length ratio. Well-shaped masculine head of good length with keen eye. Long neck leading to good forehand construction and prominent breastbone with good ground clearence. Level topline and strong loin. Well ribbed back. Well-muscled hindquarters. Moved well on a good stride and soundly.

2ND        2912 - Gravelous Low Rider (Miss Hirt) a handsome brindle dog, a little taller in leg than I would prefer so did not have the overall balance I was looking for. Good head and keen in expression, good forehand, firm topline and stands on good legs and feet. Sound and accurate on the move and presented in excellent muscular condition

Difficult class to judge as 3 very different types.

1ST        2905 - Ir Ch Dovestream Who Killkenny Ir Jr Ch (Mrs D A Gaskin) masculine B&T dog who instantly takes the eye and presents a very good overall picture when standing. Masculine conical head and dark keen eye. Strong jaw. Excellent length of neck into well placed shoulders. Correct oval front with elbows tight to chest and neat, well-padded feet. Correct sweep of keel giving nice underline. Strong topline, great ribbing and short strong loin but a fraction longer in back for my liking. Excellent, well-muscled hind quarters which he used to advantage on the move having powerful drive from behind and excellent extension in front. So sound both coming and going. He really presented a lovely picture on the move, and I was delighted to award him BD.

2ND        2917 - Bensarka Limerick (Miss L K & Mrs J C Macdonald) another very nice honest dog of a completely different type and shorter in back than my winner. Liked his size and shape. Lovely head and expression. Super sternum and sweep of keel. So well-constructed in front, with elbows tight to chest and neat feet. Well ribbed with short, firm loin and excellent strong topline. Moved correctly fore and aft and held a very good outline on the move, I just felt today he didn’t have the rear drive of my winner but a really lovely dog and was very happy to award him RBD.

3RD        2913 - Carpaccio Suchard (Mr J E Hunt)

993. Dachshund (Smooth-Haired) - Puppy Bitch

1ST        2920 - Craimose Aquilegia for Rayol (Mrs E & Miss C Roberts & Smith) promising, attractive B/T bitch. She has a lovely feminine typey head shape and keen expression. Good front angulation, with elbows tight to chest and good bone and neat feet. Pleasing promise and development of bone and body for age. Well ribbed and short loin. Correctly set tail. Moved well in front with good extension and enough drive from the rear. Still very much a baby but should have a bright future.

2ND        2916 - Tramardachs Booty Licious (Mrs T Lucas) another very promising puppy just lacking the confidence of the winner today which told against her in the end. Really lovely shape when standing with good overall balance. Excellent head and eye with good under jaw. Well set, rounded ears. Good length of neck leading into adequately placed shoulders. Good upper arm and sternum. Well ribbed back with short, firm loin. Nicely angulated rear. Once settled moved well and soundly.

3RD        2926 - Craimose Freesia (Mr C Young)

994. Dachshund (Smooth-Haired) - Junior Bitch

1ST        2908 - Bronia Solar Flare (Mrs F Hanney-Mitchell) cracking bitch with so much to like. I particularly liked her feminine size & she is so well balanced in profile when stacked. Feminine, conical in head with almond eye, well set ears. To go over she is almost textbook with correct length of neck & most perfect broad, well laid shoulders & correctly placed upper arm. Excellent keel and good depth but with enough ground clearance. Strong and true in front with tight elbows. Excellent body condition, firm topline. Excellent well-padded neat feet. Well ribbed and set back into a correct short loin. Excellent hindquarters which are well angulated with good muscle tone. She came alive on the move, holding her outline perfectly with good drive from the rear and lovely extension in front and being very sound both coming and going. I had no hesitation in awarding her BB & BOB.

2ND        2926 - Craimose Freesia (Mr C Young) litter sister to winner of Puppy and many of the same remarks apply. B/T with a lovely head, good length neck, well angulated shoulders with good upper arm. Well angulated rear with enough muscle for a baby. Moved well just needs a little more confidence on the lead. Sound both fore and aft.

995. Dachshund (Smooth-Haired) - Post Graduate Bitch

1ST        2897 - Great Kapriz Ogita to Hampdach (Imp Rus) (Miss C L Bethel) Lovely Bl/T bitch of good proportions and well balanced. Strong but feminine head with almond eyes giving a keen expression. Good length of neck flowing into a decent lay of
shoulder. Good length of ribbing and keel, strong loin. Good turn of stifle. Moved out with purpose and soundly both ways.

2ND        2925 - Hundpoint Meena Tils (Miss S G Wood) Bl/t who present a good overall shape when standing. Feminine, conical head. Prominent forechest. Well bodied, with good ribbing. Firm hindquarters which she used well on the move.

3RD        2928 - Daxiehun Dare to Dream (Mr C F Young)

996. Dachshund (Smooth-Haired) - Open Bitch

Entries: 7    Absentees: 1

1ST        2915 - Clentry Sweet Melody (Miss J Jennings) Lovely red who I have admired before. She is a good shape, being long and low but pleasing leg length giving her good ground clearance. Attractive type and shape. Feminine in head with a lovely keen expression. Good length of neck leading into well placed shoulders. She carries her head well standing and on the move. Pleasing body, which is elegant, well boned and well developed, strong in loin with strong nicely angled hindquarters. She moved the best of this class with drive and true purposeful extension in front. Very close for top awards and I was happy to award her RBB.

2ND        2914 - Lauralee Joan of Arc at Carpaccio (Mr J E Hunt) a very good quality bitch who is little heavier in body than 1st and a tad deeper all through. Very attractive head and expression, good length neck, well-made front, excellent forechest, with good spring and length of ribbing. Desirable angulations front and rear with good width hindquarters and parallel hocks which she used to advantage on the move, driving nicely from the rear. She is sound both fore and aft and handled to get the very best out of her.

3RD        2906 - Ir Ch Dovestream Do Me A Favour (Mrs D & Mrs J Gaskin & Williams)

997. Dachshund (Smooth-Haired) - Special Beginners Bitch

1ST        2900 - Cootscanis Creme Caramel (Miss H Bird) a very well-schooled and happy showgirl who was just out to please her owner. A little long in leg for me, but she is young and has time to fill her frame. Very pretty head with high set ears. Good neck and decent shoulder placement. Firm topline. Decent rear angulation. Moved out well and so well handled to get the very best from her.
