My thanks to the committee for this appointment which I enjoyed very much. It has been sometime since I judged this variety and I am pleased to say they have been many improvements. I thought temperament was much better than last time with only a couple of youngsters showing some nerves.
Mouths were very good with only two slightly suspect level bites, and generally the size is much better without exaggeration as has been seen in the past.
One comment I would like to make is about feet, as I felt many had very flat open soft feet and given this is a digging breed this must be watched.
From my lineups you may think I am prejudice towards reds however this is not the case it just so happened that’s what won through today.!
Having said that I thank the exhibitors for bringing their dogs, and to my steward for her help on the day.

1st Ch C Jasper from H
Although standing alone this 12-year-old really showed his quality and enthusiasm for the ring.
He is a real Laster and is in great condition he still moves with some drive and keeps a level topline. He has a pleasing head and expression and well laid shoulders good quarters and still has muscle tone. His owner should be very proud.
Puppy d 3/0)
1st G you’re Excused C. Just rising 12 months old this red boy shows a lot of promise, and when he gains his confidence he will maybe take over from the dog cc winner today belonging to the same kennel. He has excellent movement both forwards and back and he kept his top line at all times, with more muscle tone and a little time he will trouble the best. Typical head eye and expression good for chest not too overdone well bodied and carried himself well. BPIS
2nd Borrelli. Philabar Crimson Skies. B/T of smaller stature than one and not quite the neck or head. Once muscled up with more time will do better.
3rd Andison and Peel. Clentry Tiger Feet
Junior d (3/0)
1st McNaughton. Cedovoch Rohan. B/T A shade low for me but very good movement with drive keeping a level topline typical head eye and expression liked his bone and his feet and this is what scored him over second.
2nd Young. Craimose Adonis. Really loved this black and tan on the move as the temperament just shone through. Made in a smaller mould but again with good head. Lots to like and when more mature will do well.
3rd Jennings. Marvale’s Manifesto at Jenivon
Yearling d (3/0)
1st F Frank at T
Red of good size not being overdone 13 months old and still carrying some puppy fat just needs to muscle up and mature however moved well keeping a level topline. Tighter elbows gave him the place over two.
2nd Graham. Marvale Chancellor at Ravold. B/T of larger mould good quarters not quite the tidy front of first, head very typical and well off for bone strode out well on the move keeping his top line.
3rd Coupland. Retrohound Hermes.
Post Grad d (2/0)
1st. Rycroft. Jacksondax Horner Hurrah. Black and tan of smaller mould slightly on the leg for me and certainly wouldn’t want him any taller but okay. Has a good forechest ,good turn of stifle and beat two on tidier hind action and neater overall shape.
2nd. Rycroft. Skywalker Blue at Trisensara. B/T of larger mould than first with chest very deep could have more neck to benefit but overall a pleasing specimen.
Limit d (2/0)
1st. Starkey. Carpaccio Magnum PI at Longmel. B/T of larger mould but won this class on having better shoulder placement and neck than second, a little overdone it front for me but it was close with number two.
2nd Hinwood. Adnerb Sheer Nanigans at Longmel. Another black and tan of neat size but would prefer a stronger backend and more angulation throughout to complete. Pleasing head and eye, kept his top line on the move and strode out well.
Open d (5/1)
1st. Ch. C S Mario. Red of pure quality lovely for size, moved with drive, good head eye and neck. Shoulders well laid back, ribbed correctly and well angulated quarters. Not over done in any department . Pleased to award him Bob.
2nd Macdonald. Bensarka Limerick. Lovely red boy of excellent size has all the essentials but just lacks a little enthusiasm on the move, once he gets his act together I think he will do very well. Tail set a tad high for me today.
3rd. Heels. Daxanory Menacing Dennis.
Special Beginners (4/2)
1st F Frank at T
2nd. Rycroft . Retrohound Hermes. B/T boy who didn’t want to co operate today and made heavy weather of the grass. Made in a larger mould with good bone and feet.
Puppy b (3/0)
1st COX. Bulldaxit Sooner or later. B/T very raw baby with a fabulous temperament. Six months old and giving a lot away. Pretty head and pleasing size. Moved well for her age.
2nd. McNaughton. Cedovoch Sanachan. Red of good quality and type. Sadly unnerved today and not liking her time in the ring. Once she gains confidence will do well.
3rd. Borrelli. Philabar Fallen Angel.
Junior b (5/1)
1st. Andison and Peel. Clentry Crunchy Carrot. Red girl with better width through front than two. Lovely head and bone, well covered in hard muscle with neck of good length and well laid shoulder.
2nd. Tomlinson. Melisdax Memories of May. B/T with gleaming coat and a size I prefer. Well balanced height to length and kept her topline. Just a shade narrow in front which was also evident coming at me. Good overall quality.
3rd. McNaughton Cedovoch Lothlorien.
Yearling b (4/1)
1st. Haney-Mitchell. Ch. Bronia Solar Flare. Red who oozed quality and super construction. Excellent size and no exaggeration. Thought she would have been in the honours but unfortunately she was moving very erratically behind. ( coming into season?) Such a pity as I really liked her.
2nd. Tomlinson. Melisdax Magnolia in May. Another pretty red of correct size and quality. Feminine head with good expression. A shade narrow in front but well ribbed and kept a good outline.
3rd. Lucas. Tramardachs Booty Licious.
Post Grad b (2/0)
1st. Stark. Adnerbs Not on your Nellie Gobannium JW Red of correct size. Not overdone. Good neck and shoulder. Moved well but gave her handler a hard time.
2nd. Heels. Daxanory Ravishing Meg. Red who was not as confident as I would like. Eye detracts from an otherwise good head. Elbows a tad loose. Good muscle tone and In hard condition.
Limit b (6/1)
Good class!
1st. A Won Vision of G. Super red girl of correct proportions. Beat second on more positive hind action. Lovely head and eye. Good length of neck and correct shoulders. Held her shape at all times. Great temperament. No exaggeration and looked like she could do a day’s work.
2nd. C. Sweet Melody. Close up to one and another red of correct size. Well constructed and in good muscle tone. Just a shade untidy behind otherwise close up. Really liked her.
3rd. Paterson. Cwmdarhian The Mistress.
Open b (3/1)
1st. Tomlinson. Bensarka Emerald Isle to Melisdax . Red girl who just needs a bit more oomph to complete the picture. Well made throughout with pleasing head and front. Correct size and kept her outline at all times.
2nd. Borrelli. Philabar the Original. B/T of larger mould. Elbows could be a shade tighter and feet are a little flat, otherwise a well made girl who moved well keeping her outline and top line.
