My grateful thanks to Pauline & Ian Sidgwick
for keeping the ring in splendid order enabling a timely finish and to the
exhibitors for a lovely entry.
PD (1) 1 Rayol Charlie Brown (Coupland), young
red dog with instant appeal as he has a good balanced shape standing; good
head with some strength, but it does still need time to mature on further,
as is to be expected. Good in front & not overly heavy, but he does still
have some puppy fat to lose. Very powerful on the move, with a good, free
side stride & being quite accurate up and back. He doesn’t need to grow on
any further. BPIB.
YD (2) 1 Marvale Chancellor at Ravold JW
(Graham), smart young B/T dog of good overall make and shape; quality head
with strength & masculinity; enough neck & good keel; firm topline and neat
underline, but I would not want him any heavier than this. Carries himself
very well on the move, extending & really going with propulsion & ease; and
makes a very good silhouette in profile. In the challenge he continued to
use himself well & ended up with the DCC. I understand his 2nd such award &
then gained his 3rd a few hours later at the Scottish Dachshund Club Ch
Show. Well done on his crown. 2 Cedavoch Calenhad (Mcnaughton), I liked this
dog very much & initially thought he would be the winner. A touch lighter
than the winner & is very admirable to go over; keen expression & good head
properties; enough neck & depth; firm topline, well ribbed back & nearly
made throughout. Understand he has only been to a couple of shows & this was
apparent on the move, he is certainly sound & has lots of promise; just
needs to learn what to do! Paid the price here & I called him back in for
the ResCC hoping he might have pulled himself together, but he had to give
way to the limit winner. Lots to like & I would have been happy to sign a
green card for him had he given a better performance.
PGD (2) 1 Clentry Tiger Feet (Andison), red
brindle dog who impressed for his profile action; liked his head and
expression, enough strength for a dog, good in front & stands on good legs
and feet; well ribbed back and generally lighter framed throughout. He could
perhaps, have a touch more power in his rear, but his overall carriage and
profile movement won him this class. 2 Fantastic Frank at Trisensara JW (Rycroft),
shaded red dog of generally good make and shape. Decent head properties but
I would perhaps like a bit more strength in muzzle; enough neck & depth to
chest, good for ribbing & topline; touch taller than the winner & not quite
so free in profile on the move today; well handled and presented.
LD (5) 1 Marvale’s Manifesto at Jenivon
(Jennings), good winner of this class where all 5 gave me something to think
about & are admirable for their own qualities; B/T dog & very upstanding;
lots to like on going over him, very masculine headpiece but not coarse,
lovely forehand & keel; firm topline, neat underline and he stands on good
legs and feet. Beautifully conditioned and presented in first rate
condition, just right & I wouldn’t want him any heavier. Uses himself very
well on the move, sound and shapely going with ease and freedom. Thought he
complimented the DCC very well & interested to find out later they are
litter brothers, ResCC. 2 Cedavoch Rohan (Mcnaughton), really lovely B/T dog
from this kennel, I thought he was very smart; liked his head with a good
eye & keen expression; excellent forehand, shapely body but a touch longer
in loin than the winner, powerful hindquarters & when he learns to project
himself a bit more, should have many good days. 3 Cwmdarhian Gordon Ramsay
(Jones & Moes & Williams)
PB (1) 1 Chidax Sahara Sand by Trisensara (Rycroft),
shaded red bitch who is still a touch fine at the moment & still can mature
on to advantage. Good head, but could do with a little more strength
throughout. Well made body, enough neck & reasonable keel; firm enough in
topline & used her tail well; shows promise, but just needs time. Good
profile action & well handled. BPB.
JB (1) 1 Clentry Forget Me Not (Andison), very
eye-catching bitch with room to mature on even further, good head with
balance & strength; very well made throughout, balanced angles and good
ribbing; not a lot to change on going over her & on the move she uses
herself very well, sometimes exuberance means she carries her tail a touch
high, but she is young yet & is most promising.
YB (1) 1 Denval Golden Moment (Upton), red of
a generally good type & outline; decent head properties but could be
stronger still; enough neck & depth to chest, topline is better moving than
stood; and she could do with being a touch bolder in personality on the
table. Once on the ground she settled & gave a good account of herself, and
is very sound, free and accurate.
GB (2,1) 1 Clentry Mango Passion (Balfour),
red bitch who looks very shapely on the ground; lots to admire for head
properties and quality, keen expression & good strength; a touch forward in
shoulder and could have a mite more return of upperarm but she is well
ribbed back & has good hammy hindquarters; good rear action though perhaps
her front could be slightly neater; in profile she is smart & free.
PGB (1) 1 Melisdax Memories of May
(Tomlinson), B/T bitch, she is a very good shape and type; prefer a little
more strength to her head & a slightly better earset, good to go over for
body & well knit, in first class condition and very free on the move. Stands
on very good legs and feet & well handled.
LB (3) 1 Marvale Coalition with Melriding
(Melbourne), B/T bitch who is striking when standing. Very impressive
headpiece with strength but not losing femininity in her expression; good
forehand & keel, firm topline, very shapely & has just enough elegance; uses
herself well on the move and goes with a free, effortless action. Considered
her for ResCC but just thought she had a touch too much condition on the
day, no doubt will have better days as she is a quality bitch. 2 Clentry
Crunchy Carrot (Andison), very nice red bitch who was close up to the winner
& is very shapely; good head and eye with enough strength, balanced
throughout; lengthy neck & good topline, tail carried and used well all the
time, I thought perhaps a touch taller than the winner in outline, but she
is beautifully sound & another who I imagine will carry a title. 3 Melisdax
Magnolia in May (Tomlinson)
OB (5,1) 1 Ch Bronia Solar Flare (Hanney-Mitchell),
Red bitch in full bloom, beautiful head and eye, feminine and shapely;
excellent neck and forehand, firm topline and tidy underline; she is
brimming full of muscle & it showed on the move, going with effortless
strides, very accurate up and back and really free flowing in profile with
beautiful carriage. In optimum body condition and fitness, winner of this
good class to take BCC & BOB. 2 Ch Adnerbs Take A Chance On Me at Raajput (Chauhan),
very appealing B/T bitch who upped her performance as the class went on,
super head and eye, lengthy neck & neat forehand, firm enough in topline &
well ribbed back. When taken at the correct, steady pace, she goes with ease
& freedom and I just edged her ahead of The Mistress here today as I felt
she was carrying a mite too much weight, but I would have been happy to sign
a CC for any of these three bitches. Very smart & ended up with ResCC. 3
Cwmdarhian The Mistress (Paterson), completed a trio of lovely bitches.
VB (1) 1 Phaeland Society Dancer (Mrs M
Turner), I smiled when I read my catalogue as I thought when I sent this
lovely old girl around that she was very ‘Phaeland’ in type; so much to like
about her & though now she is starting to show her age a touch, she still
has a super head and expression & does carry herself with ease & accuracy.
Lots to like even still & a credit to her owner, BVIB.
