It was good to judge this variety, which I consider to be the blueprint of the Dachshund. Type at present is diverse, with obvious Continental influence, but overall I found some super exhibits which were pleasing to go over. Still a few nervous ones sadly, presentation and condition was pretty good overall, but several with horrendously long nails, which went hand in hand with splayed feet and slack pasterns. I also found a few suspect mouths and some with missing incisors, this needs watching. I was delighted with my principal winners, even though my dog and bitch CC winners were very different types, very pleased to see my BP go Hound Puppy Group 2.
MPD (1) 1 Heel’s Daxanory Menacing Awesome. Smart, red dog who excels in head, a lovely shape and outline – just needing to tighten up in front. Could carry more body to advantage and feet need to tighten.
PD (1) 1 Ashby’s Rayol Dallas Cowboys at Jaxinorydax. Neat and tidy shaded red dog with a super head and reach of neck. Well bodied and moved out soundly, keeping a firm topline.
JD (1) 1 Jones’ Cwmdarhian San Antonia At Adnerb. A really smart and correct shaded red dog of lovely make and shape. Typical head, good reach of neck, tidy well-let-down front. Well-placed shoulders and decent ribbing, short strong loin and well-angulated rear. Put down in hard and gleaming condition and moved so very well here. Pleased to award him the RCC.
YD (1) 1 Andison’s Clentry Tiger Feet. Smart brindle dog of correct size. Pleasing outline and moves soundly. Feet not his fortune.
PGD (1) 1 Rycroft’s Fantastic Frank At Trisensara JW. Smaller type, shaded red, not masculine enough for me but sound enough. Steady Mover
LD (4,1) 1 Graham’s Marvale Chancellor at Ravold JW. Really liked this B&T dog of super type. He’s very sound and correct. Smart head and eye, has lovely bone and substance with thickly padded, tight feet. Correct both ends, so sound on the move – wish he’s put a bit more effort in here. 2 Hinwood’s Adnerb Sheer Nanagins At Longmel. Longer, finer type than 1. Smart and clean in head with a neat front. Not as correct or strong in rear as 1 but moved soundly here. 3 Jennings’ Marvale The Opposition at Jenivon
OD (5,1) 1 Williams & Moes’ Ch. Cwmdarhian Super Mario. Clear red dog of fab type, he’s so clean and correct all though, he’s hard to fault or ignore! Presented in hard condition and gleaming coat, absolutely excels in movement, showing terrific hind drive and extension. Delighted to award him the CC and later BOB. 2 Binks’s Cedavoch Ocean Storm. Red dog of nice type, longer cast than 1 and couldn’t match him on the move. Unfortunately a little unsettled here. 3 Heel’s Daxanory Menacing Dennis
MPB (2) 1 Hinwood’s Longmel After Eight Truffle. Black & tan who is so elegant and was very composed here for such a baby. Nicely constructed, just needs a stack of body on her, which will come. Moved soundly with a firm topline. 2 Heel’s Daxanory Ravishing Rose. Clear red bitch, very similar to 1 in shape but not the elegance in head. Moved out well, just needing to firm in topline.
PB (4) 1 Higgins’s Empetthounds Galations to Leveliss. Impressive chocolate bitch of classic make and shape, she’s so correct all through with a clean outline and strong topline. Moves with drive and confidence for a baby. Strong contender for the RCC, pleased to award her BP and to hear she later went Hound Puppy Group 2. Should have a very bright future. 2 Rycroft’s Carpaccio Queen Consult For Trisensara. Very sound black & tan bitch with much to commend her. A well constructed, honest type. She showed well, just not the hind drive of 1. 3 Roberts, Smith & Ashby’s Rayol Pumpkin Pie
JB (2) 1 Andison’s Clentry Forget Me Not. Really liked this dark shaded-red bitch, who’s delightful temperament made her stand out here. Loved her size, make and shape. She moved with drive and enthusiasm but had lost intrest by the Bitch Challenge. 2 Stark’s Gobannium Gladys Friday. Really sound black & tan bitch with a pleasing head and neat front. She’s very sound but could be stronger in rear – tidy mover.
YB (5,1) 1 Cox’s Bulldaxit Sooner or Later. A very smart black & tan bitch heading up this class. Classy head with correct reach of neck and layback of shoulder. Well angulated rear and super sound on the move. Very well presented in wonderful order. 2 MacDonald & Coxon’s Meusdax Mischief in May. Another quality black & tan bitch who pushed the winner hard. Similar in type, just a little lower to ground. Moved really well here, keeping a correct topline. 3 Stark’s Gobbannium Made of Honour
LB (6,1) 1 Jennings’ Clentry Sweet Melody. Really classy shaded-red bitch who stood away here. Pleasing head and expression, correct front and shoulders and a well-angulated rear. Powered around showing great drive. Pleased to award her the RCC 2 Andison’s Clentry Crunchy Carrot. Another super red bitch of similar type to 1. These two really stood away in this class and found little to separate them. 3 Wand’s Wanderhund’s All In A Muggle
OB (3) 1 Lockett-Walters’ Ralines Quickstep. Black & tan bitch of classic type, that very much appealed to me. She is not overdone in any way and has wonderful bone and substance without losing femininity. Moves with terrific drive and extension, lashing her tail as she goes. Super bitch and very pleased to award her the CC and her crown. 2 Wand’s Wanderhund California Girl. Really smart veteran black & tan bitch, presented in lovely order. Not dissimilar in type to 1 but not as angulated in rear. Sounds as a bell on the move with a firm topline. 3 Stark’s Adnerbs Won Vision of Gobannium JW OSW
