I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Wires here. Only one or two with not quite a perfect scissor bite or narrow fronts and upright shoulders. And a few going close behind, this affected my judging according to the severity. I found mostly good wire coats (A wire dog in veteran had the best wire coat I have put my hands on since judging in Hungary) and good feet almost overall. Thank you for accepting my decisions in such good grace and to those who drove down from Scotland I envy your stamina!

PD (2) 1 Johnstone’s Silvae Mogo. A rangy d at the moment, when he did keep four feet on the ground. He is of a super type and will make a good dog when he fills his frame. Very promising. BP.

PGD (4) 1 Johnstone’s Silvae Hip Pip. The three dogs in this class could change places anytime, just preferred one’s hindquarters. Has good head and coat as all three. Lovely type; 2 Dible’s Ritlo Make Mine At Liebling. Preferred this dog’s coat to one but one’s hind movement more settled today. Overall a nice d with style and quality breed type; 3 Speaks Caligari Rodnan Royal Zing.

LD (4) 1 Kent’s Liebling Play In The Hey. Good coated brindle d. Lovely head and shoulders, deep ribcage, moved well; 2 Vine’s Cishelvine Auldlangsyne. Another nice d. Good head on a lovely neck. I am sure would be well placed in any company; 3 Benyon’s Brockbane Celtic Choirboy.

OD (7) 1 Harris’s Ch/Sa Ch Silvae Blacksmith At Ritlo. A stunning dark brindle. Super coated d, not too many furnishings but construction of shoulders, ribbing and hindquarters are lovely. Moved as one would expect such a sweep from hip to hock, with panache and style. CC; 2 Moore’s Ch/Ir Ch Romanchi Comanche. Another good wire coated d. Heavier than 1. Super oval ribbing into good hindquarters but a little unsettled on the table and played the fool as wires can on the move. Sound d. RCC; 3 Rees’ Ch Ermewood Jolly Roger.

PB (2) 1 Dible’s Liebling On Golden Pond. A red b of substance, good in all departments if a bit unsure. Promising p in a good jacket; 2 Vine’s Liebling Sea Mist Over Cishelvine. Another promising p, not quite the substance of 1 but will do well I am sure. Lovely head.

JB (3) 1 Clifford’s Ablebody Operetta. Good jacket but not showy red b. very sound, no glaring faults will pass on her breed type later on. Liked her more than she liked the show!; 2 Gibson’s Allfreys Miss Conception. A finer b and a different type. Just preferred breath and soundness of one. Good hindquarters.

NB 1 A Miss Conception; 2 Benyon’s Brockbane Singing Silk. Another nice brindle with good head and shows promise. No glaring faults either.

PGB 1 Harris and Holmes’ Ritlo In A Merry Mood. This brindle b was probably the best mover of the day, with good head and lovely hindquarters. Very showy; 2 Denlay’s Lankelly Elisabeth Dora. Another nice b. Different type, compact and very sound, splitting hairs between these nice bitches; 3 Williams’ Silvae Piccolo.

LB 1 Pughe and Fraser’s Bystock Aafrican Queen. She just stood out, this very neat and tidy b with good coat, head, oval front and ribcage, good hindquarters which she used on the move. A sound and lovely b. CC and BOB. Congratulations 3rd CC on the day; 2 Moore’s Romanci Tagish. Nice b. Larger than 1, good oval ribbing, my notes read, lovely too, moved and showed well if a bit over enthusiastic with tail wagging!; 3 Andrew’s Royandas Robina.

OB 1 Poulter’s Ch Lankelly Black Bryony. This now famous b has the most sound front and shoulders seen today, super coat and lovely size, a wonderful example for the breed. Just had to give way to the youngster here. RCC; 2 Johnstone’s Silvae Picnic. A larger b of obvious quality, longer coat than 1 and more furnishings. Pushed hard, lovely type; 3 Harris’ Ritlo Jewel In Ebony.
