It is nine years sine I last judged the breed, since then the influence of the
American imports is much to the fore. In fact, when I looked at the catalogue
afterwards I see that Am Ch. Starbarrack Diamond played a major part in the
winners on the day. I think there has been a definite improvement in texture of
the coats, and if this entry was representative then size has also come down for
the better. However movement is still a problem, this is a consequence of poor
construction, shoulders being steep and forward placed with little angulation in
upper arms, and poorly constructed hindquarters being bowed with no drive.
MPD. (3). 1. Moore’s, Silvae Fitzbill in Romanchi. BP. Super quality 7 months old r/br. Chunky with ample bone and substance.Excelled in front with good fill and prominent pro sternum. Lengthy ribbing. At present is at the roly poly stage and tends to run up slightly. However hindquarters are well constructed and I would expect this to come good when he finishes growing. Movement was a joy, being sound away and back and showing excellent reach and drive. Certainly one for the future. 2. Derry’s, Soneve Pharaoh at Andlouis. 6 months old d/br very smart in outline. Lovely head piece and good jacket. Is much firmer in body than winner and holds a firm level topline. However could not match the front or ribbing of winner.
PD. (2). 1. Moore’s, Silvae Fitzbill in Romanchi. 2. Vine’s, Caligara Zeus von Cishelvine. 9 months old d/br with good bone and substance. Again is firmer in topline than winner. Preferred the shoulder placement and front construction of winner, which became apparant in movement.
JD. (7). 1. Coverley’s, Romanchi Choctaw. 2. Phillips’s, Romanchi Chawasha at Tendrow. 16 months old d/br litter brothers little between them. Liked their size, substance and bone. Harsh jackets, both sound away and back and pleased in profile movement. Choctaw has excellent ribbing and holds a good outline on the move. Would like more forechest. Chawasha holds a good outline but is slightly more forward in shoulders. 3. Davies’s, Atahira Bags the Blue.
PGD. (2). 1. Gibson’s, Allfreys Tristram. 18 months old larger happy boy. Pleased with good forechest, ribbing and excellent musular tone. Would prefer to see more length of upperarm, which would enable him to have more reach in front.
LD. (7). 1. Evans’s, Saxonbury Double Diamond. D/br no nonsense honest type of dog. No exaggerations. Balanced angulation. Good forechest with neat fitting elbows and well placed shoulders. Good length to ribbing. Firm topline and well angulated hindquarters. Good texture to jacket. Moved easily and soundly. 2. Seath’s, Stonevale Stars and Strips at Sunsong (Imp). D/br, close pin wire coat. Thought he was my winner upon initial look. Looked stunning in outline on the stake. Liked his size, width of body, length of ribbing and general muscle tone. However he was not at all settled. Appeared a bit headstrong and this told in his movement. 3. Clifford’s, Winter Storm Symphony with Ablebody.
OD. (5). 1. Dible’s, Ch. Ritlo Make Mine at Liebling. R/br out of the top draw. Ideal size, super outline. Lovely well, filled front with neat fitting elbows. Ribbing carried well back. Well rounded rump and low hocks. Harsh jacket, neat firm thickly padded feet. Movement was so collected and sound. No hesitation in awarding him the CC and BOB. 2. Moore’s, Cloudside Copper Coin. Br out of a larger mould. Again holds an excellent outline and is well constructed with balanced angulation, enabling him to move out well. The winner had the edge on front construction and coat. RCC. 3. Phillips’, Ch. Wells Sea Breeze at Tendrow.
MPB. (6). All such happy babies. 1. Edge’s, Schutzenwald Georgia. Super smart 6 months old d/br. Holds an excellent outline on the stack, and on the move, although to be critical would like to see more forward reach. Pleased in head, neck, well filled forechest and ribbing carried well back. Is very firm and fit for such a baby. Excellent presentation. 2. Rees’s, Ermewood Arabella. Much larger framed light br baby. Looks to have much potential. Has all the requirement. Needing to fill her frame and firm up. 3. Moore’s, Cloudside Eartha.
PB. (7). 1. Edge’s, Schutzenwald Georgia. 2. Moore’s, Silvae Fotcherry. Red baby that pleased in outline with good ribbing and bone. Her jacket was not as harsh as winner, and I feel she needs a stronger muzzle. 3. Vine’s, Cishelvine Love Love Me Do.
JB. (9). 1. Dible’s, Ritlo the Gypsys Fortune at Leibling. 14 months old r/br out of a similar mould to the DCC winner. Very pleased with her size, outline on the stack was a picture. So well made, balanced angulation enabled her to move out so easily and soundly. Front construction was copybook. At present she needs more width through her rump. I am hoping that this will come with maturity. Clear winner and RCC. 2. Poulter and Macdonald’s, Lankelly Kelsey Rose. 13 months old br youngster I have judged recently and done well. Still like her very much. Again of a lovely size, excellent jacket and excellent proportions. Thought she did not quite match winner in shoulders and, although she moved very soundly, I thought she may have looked better being moved at a slightly quicker pace. 3. Seath’s, Sunsong Secret Affair.
PGB. (5). 1. Dible’s, Ritlo the Gypsys Fortune at Leibling. 2. Skinner’s, Ritterbur Witches Brew. Substantially made br with super harsh jacket. Excelled in forechest and outline. Although sound in movement for me she did not have the easy action of the winner. 3. Phillips’, Tendrow Sum Thyme Special.
LB. (6). 1. Seath’s, Mowbray American Pie at Sunsong. Mature d/br with super pin wire jacket. Lots of length and well proportioned body. Held super outline. Balanced angulation. Moved out well with lots of drive. 2. Derry’s, Ritterburg Lady Guinivere at Andlouis. Smaller very neat br. Took my eye on the initial go around. Liked her outline and is fit and firm. She lost out to the drive of winner and perhaps could be a little higher on the leg. 3. Gibson’s, Allfreys Genevieve JW.
OB. (4). 1.
Poulter’s, Ch. Lankelly Black Bryony. CC. Very well known bitch of excellent
quality. Again by ‘Diamond’, her construction is excellent and her coat is
superb. Loved her front and shoulder construction. Was well aware that she was
looking for the CC to take BCC record, I saw no reason why she did not deserve
to take this. To be hyper critical she can be her own worst enemy at the stance,
not holding her outline as she does on the move and for this reason I went with
the dog for BOB. 2. Dible and Harris’s, Ch. Ritlo Jewel in Ebony (Imp). Another
lovely bitch of excellent quality. Quite rightly carries her crown. Again had
excellent well filled front and forechest, but I preferred the layback of
Bryony’s shoulders, again excellent presentation from this exhibitor. When it
came to the challenge for the RCC with a change of handler she completely blew
it, so was happy her award it to her young kennel mate. 3. Rollinson’s, Mooredge
Blackberry.
