WIRE HAIRED
I always enjoy judging Wires, even in cold wet conditions in June! Was delighted
to see my BOB pulled out 3rd in the Hound Group under Robin Searle. All bites
were correct and all hounds were clean, but elbows were not as tight as they
used to be, perhaps some hard exercise would help! Quite a few coats looked as
if they were ready to be stripped out. Thank you for such a nice entry.
PD (3,1) 1 Moore's Romanchi Mohican. Lovely headed 8-month-old brindle
boy, correct bite, excellent forechest, good layback of shoulder and reach of
neck. Plenty of length to him. When he muscles up his movement should be more
positive. BP. 2 Phillips' Clarence a Cut Above the Rest. 11-month-old brindle
boy. Strong masculine head, correct bite, nice forechest, excellent length to
body, still rather raw and this reflected in his slightly erratic movement.
JD (5) 1 Williams' Swincombes Noss Mayo. Best mover in this class, and
at 7-months went with drive across the ring, a happy hound. His coat could do
with tidying up a bit. Strong head. 2 Coverley's Aventine Tropic Thunder. One of
the best wire coats of the day. Sound 7-month-old lad, teeth correct, shoulder
placement impressed, just not quite the free movement of 1. 3 Rees' Ermewood
Joint Effort.

LD (7,2) 1 Dible's Lieblings Stormin Norman. RDCC. Harsh coated red boy
who moves very soundly and with drive around the ring. He is nicely made and
always from this kennel well presented. 2 Norman and Ratcliffe's Silvae Abraxus.
Another nice masculine hound, harsh coat, and correct bite, well made all round
but hind movement could be a little more positive. 3 Rowe's Boloria Calico Jack.
OD (3,1) 1 Moore's Ch Aventine Rainman at Romanchi JW. DCC, BOB & G3.
Strongly built brindle, masculine, correct bite, good reach of neck going in to
a good shoulder placement, plenty of length to him, and he moves powerfully
around the ring. Another kennel who always presents their hounds well. Sire of
BP. 2 McCalmont's Silvae Paradigm. Another nice dog but of different type, I
just preferred the shoulder of 1.
VD (1) 1 Coverley's Romanchi Choctaw. Cracking sound veteran,
thoroughly enjoying his day out. Good harsh coat, liked his expression and his
teeth were excellent for his 7-years.
PB (2) 1 Dimberline's Wearybay Bo Jangles. Pretty 9-month-old little
girl, one of the few with tight elbows. She looked a picture standing, but
moving her topline was a bit slack. 2 Barrett's Lowjinks Linga Longa.
6-month-old nicely made but movement was a bit difficult to assess.
JB (6,2) 1 Moore's Molloney Ann Other at Romanchi. Brindle with the
same stamp as others from this kennel. Feminine bitch, plenty of length and
bone, good forechest, movement was a bit erratic but with time this should
improve. 2 Gibson's Allfreys Starduster. 13-month-old pretty red girl. She moved
soundly fore and aft but I just felt that she wasn't as mature as 1. 3
Clifford's Ritlo Return to Sender with Ablebody.
PGB (3) 1 Kent's Monisi Calamity Jane. Attractive bitch, plenty of
bone, looked good standing, moved okay. 2 Phillip's Tendrow Poetic Justice.
Sweet red bitch, looked a picture standing, but not too positive in front
movement. 3 Seath's Sunsong Gypsy Music.
LB (7) 1 Gibson's Allfreys Grace Kelly. BCC. Caught my eye as soon as
she came into the ring, all I wrote down was: 'smashing bitch, sound, lovely,'
what more is there to say? She should get her third ticket soon. 2 Clifford's
Ablebody La Traviata. Unfortunate for this girl to come up against 1. Very nice
bitch, well made, correct bite, harsh coat, lovely shoulder placement, moved
soundly. 3 Pughe and Frazer's Bystock Black Inca.
OB (5) 1 Phillips' Tendrow Special Formula. RBCC. Pretty bitch
just back from maternity leave! She looked very well and seemed to be pleased to
be back! Nicely made all through and moved out soundly fore and aft, missed out
on top honours as still a little slack underneath. 2 Rollinson's Ch Nosinllor
Joan of Arc. Another nice bitch but not quite as feminine as 1. She travelled
soundly and happily around the ring. 3 McCalmont's Ch Silvae Mystic.
