DACHSHUND - WIRE HAIRED
PD (2) 1 & BP Rowe's
Boloria Valentino. Nice for size and weight of bone, pleasing head and ears,
just about enough neck length, clean backline with a good bend of stifle and so
well schooled on the move. I would have liked his loin to be shorter and the
ribcage carry further back, but he was in good coat and well presented. 2
Vine's Cishelvine Zephyros. I thought this was a very handsomely headed dog
with such good eyes and a lovely expression. His neck length is impressive, he
scores in sternum definition and he is well ribbed. Just about enough bend of
stifle, well set tail and well muscled rump. Unfortunately he played up badly
on the move and paid the price.
JD (2) 1 Seath's Sunsong Whisper A Promise, choc with a well balanced
head, excellent muzzle finish, well shaped eyes and a delightful expression.
Useful neck, very good forechest, well boned and good feet. He is short loined,
with a slight rise leading to a well rounded rump. Moved around the ring with a
balanced stride and good hock use. 2 Hooper's Strutting Arch at Starhill this
red was dead out of coat which only exaggerated the fact that he lacks layback
in front and has little sternum. His head is very pleasing, good eyes and ears,
enough neck, level back but could benefit from more bend of stifle.
PGD (3) 1 Vine's Allfreys To Catch a Thief at Cishelvine. What a
charming headpiece this chap has. Loved his eyes and ears and that expression.
He has a lovely arched neck, such a defined sternum, well developed ribs carry
well back and he keeps his backline rock steady as he circles the ring. Just
needs to settle going away. In lovely condition. If my memory serves me right I
liked his dam. 2 Gibson's Allfreys Rock of Gibralter. I see is litter brother
to the winner and like him has much to appreciate. He is not extreme in length,
but is totally balanced, perhaps not quite the neck of his brother, but I loved
his head and expression. Scores in hindquarter development and is basically
very sound. I felt the winner that tad better in forechest. Hut two nice dogs.
3 Downes' Aventine You Only Live Twice.
LD (3,1) 1 Coverley's Aventine Tropic Thunder JW a good quality red
which takes the eye because of his outline and head carriage. Scores in spring
of rib, firm back, well laid upper arm, and strong bone. In profile action he
showed drive and purpose and he was in hard condition. 2 Clifford's Ablebody
Razzmatazz nice fellow but totally stripped out as though he had anticipated an
early summer. Pleasing head, eyes and ears, enough spring to his ribcage, level
back and good tail set. Came towards me truly but not quite he good hock use of
the winner.
OD (6,1) 1, CC, BOB & G3 McCalmont's Ch Silvae Zealot, I thought that
in this small entry he stood out. Has an air of class, is beautifully headed
and bodied, so balanced throughout, in sparkling condition and never put a foot
wrong. His head is a delight, he is fairly short in loin, is so well muscled
and his stance profile takes the eye. Delighted to learn that he did so well
in the Group. 2 & Res CC Lewis-Crooks Barmaud Rufus (IRL) Imp. Red dog which
is so striking on the stack, All male in head, great reach of neck, terrific
sternum and forechest, firmly ribbed, excellent angles both ends and he is a
power house on the move. I believe this is his 5th or perhaps 6th RCC and
hopefully he will go on to his deserved crown. 3 Phillips Ch Cishelvine
Swellegant Guy at Tendrow.
PB (3,1) 1 Morris' Wagsford Winona, I see she shares the same sire as
the twins which did the double in CCs. I thought her to be hugely promising
and can only hope that her owner can be persuaded to keep showing her. I
gather both at their first ever dog show. This poppet is a huge delight. Loved
the length and strength of her head yet retaining that so hard to find
expression of true quality. So correctly constructed, ribs go well back, the
loin is fairly short, her angles are good, the bone perfect for her size and
sex and whoever had prepared her jacket had done a great job. I thought she
would be my BP but in the run off, he moved around the ring as though he owned
it whilst she thought is was playtime and the object was to catch him! 2 Rowe's
Derochaise Atlantica to Boloria. Happy little person who was delighted to show
how perfectly she can wag her tail. Much less mature than the winner and is at
the raw stage where she dips in back and is a trifle loose limbed on the move.
Sweet head, lovely eyes and ears and a really good reach of neck. Needs time.
JB (5) 1 Phillips' Tendrow Peaches I liked this red a lot. She is very
finished, was in excellent jacket, takes the eye immediately as she is well
balanced, more than useful neck, level back over a good ribcage, decent
forechest and she has such good substance. Moved around the ring with a style
and confidence. I thought her head was so good, decent length, not overdone in
skull and with really good eyes. 2 W.Winona. 3 Dunstall's Rieyonne Adele for
Metcroft.
PGB (3,1) 1 Vine's Cishelvine Dream of the Sea. Smart bitch of good
type, pleasing head, eyes and ears, she is well ribbed with good bone & feet.
On the go around she covered the ground so well, good forward reach and keeping
her backline steady. 2 Gibson's Allfreys Lillie Langtry in lovely coat, very
good eyes and expression, enough reach of neck, very well ribbed and muscled
and presented in first class coat. Regrettably she stepped short as they went
around the ring which told against her.
LB (5) 1 Pughe & Fraser's Bystock Pussy Galore. I see is another half
sister to the ticket winners. She too takes the eye on entrance to the ring.
She is shapely, has a degree of style and on the stack the lines flow so freely
and smoothly to draw the eye. Excellent neck and body, very good bend of
stifle, sternum excellent in profile and she has fairly tight elbows. Sound
both ways and her presence enhanced the challenge. 2 Barney's Molloney on
Denise for Romaunt. Another good bitch, perhaps not the muscle strength in
hindquarters of the winner but despite that she moved out well. Pleasing head,
good eye colour and shape, such a good length to her neck and he ribcage
pleased. 3 Coverley's Aventine Shaken Not Stirred.
OB (6,2) 1 & CC McCalmont's Silvae Zeal looks a Champion, and I am
surprised she isn't yet but that can only be a matter of time. Has style, an
air of good breeding, never put a foot wrong, moves out so soundly then stops
absolutely true both ends. She is blessed with a beautiful headpiece, stunning
expression, was in excellent coat and must be a joy to show. 2 & Res CC Seath's
Boloria's Kaleena at Sunsong JW. I thought her to be so totally feminine in
head and expression. Not overlong in length / height proportions but she is
correct in balance aided by that good sternum and excellent rear angulation
combining to give appeal to her outline. A very sound, purposeful mover with
good hock use and I was delighted to have the chance to go over her. 3 Pughe
& Fraser's Bystock Black Truffle JW.
