A really great and satisfying day. Thank you for your entries (the highest this
year except for Crufts). It's hard to believe that it's been over 11 years since
I last judged this variety. So, if this is a representative entry, I can only
say that this variety is in good overall shape with some very promising
youngsters around. There dogs seem to be plenty of different bloodlines around
to play with and considering this type and size (with the odd exception) seems
quite uniform. Soundness when moving away seems a little untidy at times, the
ground was rough in places, but most displayed very good profile action with
good reach and follow through. Some had a touch too much ground clearance for
me. I'm well aware of fit for function, but they don't need to be giraffes to
show a typical gait. Temperaments on dogs and humans was very good. A jolly
bunch all round. Coats and presentation a credit, plenty of good harsh tight
coats around with the desirable head furnishings that really give this variety
the edge. No major mouth faults and only one kinky tail. I do confess to having
a foot fettish, and I do think shorter nails on some could do wonders. Both my
CC winners were winning their first big green cards, in my opinion both are the
type to which I was educated on and have grown up watching in our rings over the
years. The two puppy classes were a treat to judge and both my line-ups I
thought quite exceptional. Finally, thank you to Mr A. Murray for coming to our
rescue to steward for us, with his efficience we soon got on track.
PD(5) 1 Coverley's Aventine Jamaica Inn. Just 7 mths, full of
potential, very good head and eye, well arched neck, good shoulders, super feet,
very good topline, ribbing extends well back, short loins, tail well set and
carried, very good hind angulation, firm hocks, all in proportion, very sound
coming and going for one so young, in profile he has lovely reach and follow
through, keeping a firm topline from a lovely head carriage, he can certainly
cover some ground with ease, so full of life and full of promise. BP and RCC. 2
Seath's Zlowfox Av Larhjelm At Sunsong (Imp Nor). Another very promising puppy,
a shade more ground clearance than first, good head and eye, well muscled neck,
good front, tight elbows, good body and ribbing, firm topline, shorter coupled
than first, firm hammy quarters, very sound coming and going, projects himself
well in profile, lovely coat and condition. 3 Rollinson's Bellavin Invincible At
Nosinllor.
JD(3, 1) 1 McPherson &Patterson's Fransin Brasilian T P Panettone
(Imp). 19 mths, fantastic coat and condition, very good head and dark almond
eye, well arched neck leading into well placed shoulders, good forechest, tight
elbows, very good body and ribbing, super top and underlines, short thick loins,
excellent hind angulation, impressive second thigh, ultra sound coming and
going, lovely outline in profile with super drive from behind, so close up in
the challenge, just a shade more ground clearance than the winners. I'mm sure he
will be very useful and given the chance will make it. 2 Moore's Metewand Bogen
By The Sea. 16 mth brindle, I loved his type and length of body, good head,
leading into long neck and carriage, not as clean in shoulders as first, very
good ribbing and firm topline, another with very good hind angulation and firm
parallel hocks, another who can cover the ground. Different in type to first but
one I liked very much.
PGD(7, 2) 1 Davies' Atahira Joie De Bleu. Stunning 18 mth old with the
tightest of jackets, to me he was the whole package and my idea of how a Wire
should be, stunning head and eye, correct ratio's from muzzle to skull, strong
jaws, firm, well arched neck, copybook shoulders, tight elbows, plenty of
forechest with keel extending well back, fantastic legs and feet, lovely body
and proportions, firm topline, very good ribbing, short loins, super
hindquarters, so well muscled and conditioned throughout, tail well set and
carried, very sound coming and going, in profile has lovely head carriage and
moves out in typical workmanlike style, no exaggeration, correct ground
clearance, the type of Wire that has not changed through the decades. It was my
pleasure to award him the CC (his first) and BOB, a great performance in the
Group made me feel very proud, good luck to a bright future. 2 Weatherer's
Sauuxian Levante Via Itsuitzuz. 20 mths, good head, shade shorter in muzzle to
first, good neck and shoulders, super bone and fantastic feet, good body and
proportions, shade shorter coupled than first, firm topline, very good hind
angulation, well muscled throughout, very sound coming through, not so precise
going away, lovely carriage and outline in profile, full of type and typical. 3
Moore's Cloudside Monte Carlo.
LD(4) 1 Seath's Sunsong Whisper A Promise. 2 yr old choc/tan,
one I really liked, he is so in proportion and well balanced throughout,
appealing head, good neck and carriage, very good shoulders, tight elbows, firm
topline, good ribbing with correct underline, good quarters, firm parallel
hocks, tail well set, very sound coming and going, moving out well in profile,
just felt he could have stepped it up a gear at times, a sound, honest Dachshund
that should make up. 2 Gibson's Allfreys Rock Of Gibralter. Looks just stunning
on the table, really lovely head and eye, lovely shoulders, tight elbows, plenty
of forechest, good topline, well sprung ribbing that extends well back, nice
angles behind, thick hammy quarters, sound enough coming but not as precise as
first going away, looked good in profile but today I preferred the overall
finish on the move of first, fantastic coat and condition. 3 Rollinson's Bystock
Double O Seven At Nosinllor.
OD(4) 1 Phillips' Ch Chishelvine Swellegant Guy At Tendrow JW. 4 yrs,
presented in lovely coat and condition, very good head and eye, strong jaw, well
arched neck leading into very good shoulders, tight elbows, plenty of forechest,
good legs and feet, very good body and ribbing with firm topline, tail well set,
firm quarters, very sound up and down, moving out well in profile keeping a
typical outline, coping well with the uneven ground. For personal preference,
would like a shade shorter hock and this was a deciding factor in the challenge.
A worthy champ, full of breed type. 2 Downes' Aventine You Only Live Twice. 3 yr
old masculine boy, looks a picture stacked, super head and expression, firm,
well arched neck which he uses so well on the move, good shoulders, plenty of
forechest, good body and firm topline, long ribbing, well sprung, short thick
loins leading into good hindquarters, firm parallel hocks, sound enough coming
and going, moving out well in profile, very good coat and condition. 3
Lewis-Crooks' Ch Barmaud Rufus.
VD(1) 1 Vine's Cishelvine Sea Swell. 7 yrs old, in super coat, loved
his head and expression, very good layback of shoulder, plenty of width
throughout, good forechest, very good topline, long body but in proportion, good
height to length ratios, tail a touch high set for me, sound enough coming and
going, lovely and elegant in profile, keeping a typical outline, lovely type and
overall picture.
PB(10, 1) 1 Gibson's Allfreys Greta Garbo. 13 mths old, still carrying
some puppy fat! Very good head and expression, good shoulders, plenty of
forechest, good top and underlines, well sprung ribbing, thick short loins,
firm, well muscled quarters, today a shade untidy coming and going but her
profile action was lovely, good reach and fantastic drive from behind, super
coat, should have a good future. 2 Howe's Deri Ze Zofova Dvora (Imp). 14 mth
dark brindle, taller throughout, fantastic coat and presentation, really
appealing head and expression, long well arched neck, not the layback of
shoulder of first, good topline, ribbing extends well back, tail well set and
carried, another who needs to tidy up coming and going, presents a good overall
picture for the angles and ratios that she possesses.
SBB(2) 1 May's Wagsford Molly May. Very nice bitch, so feminine, very
good head and dark eye, long, well arched neck, very good shoulders, plenty of
keel, tight elbows, good body and ribbing with firm topline, enough angulation
behind, sound enough coming and going, looks lovely in profile, very elegant
picture, lovely gait, good harsh coat and condition, full of type. 2 Deri Ze
Zofova Dvora.
PGB(5, 1) 1 Warren's Wagsford Florance. My find of the day. Just so
feminine and well made throughout. 23 mth old and full of quality, lovely head
with the sweetest of expressions, ears well set with correct length, long,
elegant, well arched neck, copybook front construction, perfect angles and tight
elbows, lovely forechest, super legs and feet, excellent body of correct length,
very good ribbing, firm topline, good underline, short loins leading into firm,
well made quarters, lovely angles with firm, parallel hocks, sound coming and
going, in profile her movement is free and effortless, a real picture of grace
as she glides over the ground, lovely coat and condition, full of type and
totally filled my eye. CC, her first and if there is any justice in this game, a
sure champion. Good luck! 2 Smith's Salixian Leveche. Super coated youngster,
good head and eye, long neck, fair shoulders, good body and ribbing, firm
topline, short loins, enough angulation behind, good firm hocks, sound enough
coming and going, strides out well in profile, presents a good overall picture.
3 Rowe's Boloria's Naughty But Nice.
LB(7, 1) 1 Rollinson's Nosinllor Artemis. A real favourite of mine,
sound, honest bitch, lovely from any angle, she can't stand wrong as she has the
correct angles and is so well muscled, the coat and condition on this 2 yr old
bitch is outstanding, very good head, ears correctly set, well arched neck, very
good shoulders, tight elbows, plenty of forechest, super ribbing, firm topline,
good underline, short thick loins, firm hammy quarters, tail correctly set, very
sound in front though today a touch untidy going away and this cost her later in
the challenge, lovely profile action with good reach and follow through keeping
a good typical outline. A good honest bitch. 2 Vine's Cishelvine Echoes Of The
Sea. Another lovely bitch, shade lower to ground than first, very good head and
expression, super neck leading into very good shoulders, tight elbows, good legs
and feet, good body and ribbing, leading into very good quarters, not so precise
coming and going but lovely profile action, nice head carriage and outline,
another with a great coat. 3 Bates &Maes-Jones' Derochaise Elegancia JW.
OB(5, 1) 1 Phillips' Ch Tendrow Peaches. Probably one of the few I have
seen before. She is lovely to go over and is a picture of elegance and
femininity, two and a half yr old red, all in proportion and very well made,
very good head and dark almond eye, super furnishings, good neck and carriage,
good shoulders, tight elbows, fantastic legs and feet, plenty of forechest, good
body, not overlong, good ribbing and topline, short thick loins, tail well set,
super well muscled hammy quarters, very sound coming and going, goes well in
profile, though today over the rough ground she did persist in breaking her gait
at times and this did cost her in the challenge. A picture of elegance with a
fantastic coat. RCC to another top flight bitch. 2 Seath's BoloriaKaleena At
Sunsong JW. So lovely to go over on the table, everything flows, lovely head and
expression, well arched neck leading into very good shoulders and front
construction, tight elbows, very good feet, very good ribbing and underline,
correct height to length ratio, well made quarters, good length of second thigh,
firm hocks, very sound coming and going, covering the ground well in profile,
just preferred the overall finish of first in overall outline, close up and so
well muscled. 3 Pugh &Fraser's Ch Bystock Black Truffle JW.
VB(1) 1 Bates &Maes-Jones' Watermans Martha Of Derochaise. I really
fell for this 11 yr old, so fit, full of type and oozes quality, lovely head,
good strong jaws, good neck and carriage, everything fits neatly in front,
plenty of forechest, good body and ribbing, firm topline, good angulation
behind, firm, well muscled hocks, very sound in front and sound enough going
away, lovely outline in profile, with an elegant neck carriage. A real gem to
finish a lovely days judging with BV.
