My thanks to the committee for their hospitality and to my intrepid stewards, Flo Winchurch and Bill Evans.

I found the entry interesting and quite difficult in some classes even though there were not many exhibits present. It was hard to judge to type although it appears most of my principal winners were by the same stud dog.

Temperaments were great which is so important, mouths were all good, coats varied from freshly stripped to needing to come out, but all had good texture.

One thing I did notice however, was the lack of muscle tone in many exhibits and I think that some dogs do not get the free running they need to build up the required muscle and second thigh, whilst conversely one or two were almost overdone in front and I wonder if they pull hard on a lead to develop like this?

That said, I enjoyed my day and I thank the competitors very much for their sportsmanship and their entries.

I was delighted to see my BOB go on to win BIS and also my BV go BVIS.

Veteran D/B 6/2abs

1st Rollinson’s  “Ch Nosinllor Joan of Arc” Very lively b with excellent jacket. Moved very well and kept her outline. 7 years old.

2nd Downes and Moore’s “Am/Gr Ch Daybreak’s Classique Cruiser”. Someone forgot to tell this boy he is a veteran. Full of life and verve. Preferred his head to 1st but just lost for being a tad heavier through.

But it was a close decision.

3rd North-Row’s “Ir. Ch Barmaud Jacob”

 Good Citizen 2/1abs

1st Patton’s “ Lesandnic Larsson” Dark pinwire coated d with correct height to length ratio. Moved well. Good bend of stifle. Pleasing head and neat feet.

Minor P D  3/1abs

1st Wharton’s “Greyhayne Beethoven”. Obviously a baby although well grown. Well off for bone. Enjoyed his experience in the ring. Pleasing head shape.

2nd Hazel’s “ Romanchi Nooksack at Vraibleu” Sadly this baby went lame behind which was a shame as his make and shape were lovely. Hopefully he had just pulled a muscle or stepped on something as when he gets past this he will be a contender.

Puppy D 2/1withdrawn

1st BP Patton’s “ Lesannic Lil Eetee” Red of good make and shape. Good height to length ratio. Pleasing head and eye. Enough front. Good feet. Moved well in profile and going away. Promising.

 Junior D 1/0abs

1st Res CC Coverley’s “Aventine Jamaica Inn” Forgot to get dressed today which was a pity and also rather lean, but I am sure these transient factors will be addressed in the near future. Super profile movement and would liked to have seen him given more speed. Overall well made and not a lot to alter in construction, just the cosmetic finishes to complete.

Yearling D 2/0abs

1st Bubb’s “Tecklegarth Leapoffaith to Wyeknot” Compact d carrying a great jacket. Could lose a touch of weight I felt, but absolutely wonderful muscle tone which helped him power round the ring. Lovely head and eye. Great feet and bone. Good size.

2nd Vine and Baxter’s “ Cishelvine Red Admiral” Red as the name suggests.

Longer cast than first and this caused him to lose a little control over the back action I felt. Not quite the drive of first. Very different in style to one being rangier.

Post Grad D 1/0abs

1st Derry’s “ Eyderhavn Helmsley at Andlouis” Super coat. Lovely eye. Wonderful feet. Very headstrong and a real stallion hound.

 Limit D 3/0abs

1st Rowe’s “ Bolorias Cadbury Surprise” Chocolate so very well handled to get the best out of him. Compact and not over exaggerated in any department. Moved well enough keeping his topline.

2nd Weathermen’s “ Salaxian Levante via Itsuitzuz” Bold brindle who is very full of himself and is hard to control. A little overdone in muscle in places but has a super head and a lot to like.

 3rd Hooper’s “ Strutting Arch at Strahill”

Open 8/2abs

1st CC Vine’s “ Ch Allfreys to Catch a Thief at Cishelvine” Well proportioned d of good type. Moved very well with drive and kept a good topline. Pleasing head and correct front. In the challenge for BOB lost to the exceptionally well moving B but they did look good going round together and I thought very similar. It was only now I see they are half brother and sister, no wonder they have similarities!

2nd Patton’s “Ch/Ir Ch Lesandnic Sea the Star” Different style to first being a slightly heavier type but nevertheless a good honest d. Very workmanlike as opposed to flashy. Moved well to secure this place in a good class.

 3rd Gibson’s “ Allfreys Rock of Gibralter”

Minor P B 2/1abs

1st BPB Moore’s “Romanchi Mi’Kmaq” Very promising 6m baby at her first show. Super coat, lovely head and eye. Tight feet. Correct front, super topline. Liked everything about her at this age. Little overawed but that’s nothing.

Puppy B 2/0abs

1st Phillips’ “Hototo Swellegant Gal at Tendrow” Dark brindle with good coat. Pretty head and correct eye. Oval thorax. Good feet. Very different in type to second who I also liked a lot. One just took it on being tidier in forward and back movement, but she was a tad too long for me and this showed in her dipping in topline.

2nd Patton’s “Lesandnic Lilla” Different to one as said, and a better height to length ratio but was less tidy in up and back action but I’m sure this will improve with age and so today this was their placing but in the future it could change.

Junior B 3/0abs

1st Moore and Downes “Aventine My Cousin Rachel” Well balanced, good mover, liked her head, well prepared. Good neck. Liked her make and type

Will be a contender when fully mature.

2nd Gibson’s “Allfreys Sternchen Alrisha” Not quite the movement of first as she has super bend of stifle but not the muscle yet to control the back action to go with it. This can be improved so not a  permanent problem.

3rd Edwards and Lavin’s “Bellavin Alfreda”

Yearling B 2/1abs

1st Res CC Stiles’ “Cishelvine Sea Spray” Red in excellent order. Spot on for weight, coat preparation and muscle tone. Good head, oval thorax, good neck, well ribbed. Moved correctly and kept a level topline. To be critical would like her a tad shorter in loin. Super personality.

Post Grad B 8/2abs

1st Moore’s “ Romanchi Bella Bella” Liked this one for type and set up looked the part. Good head, neck and front. Correct shoulder. Well ribbed. A shade slack in hind movement but didn’t lose her topline with this. Won a good class.

2nd Gibson’s Allfreys Greta Garbo” Close up to one but not in the coat or muscle of first and had to pay the price I’m afraid. Head and front were good. A tad happy with her tail on the move which made her a little untidy. That said, she was still a good type.

3rd Coverley’s “ Aventine Dawn Patrol”

Limit B 3/1abs

1st Bates and Maes-Jones “Derochaise Elegancia JW” Very dark brindle with super coat. Lovely head shape and correct front. Just a tad sluggish on the move for me as I would like to see her step out with more verve which I’m sure she could do. Parallel hind action. Two quality bitches here.

2nd Vine’s “ Cishelvine Echoes of the Sea” Another well made b who just lost out on coat quality and feet. Again an oval thorax and well laid shoulder with good neck.

Open B 6/ 1abs

1st CC BOB  BIS  Pughe and Fraser’s Ch Bystock Pussy Galore”

I was delighted to be able to judge this b now she has reached maturity. I gave her BP last time and thought then how lovely she was and what promise she held. I was not disappointed. For height to length ratio she is the new breed standard being one to two. Her ground clearance is absolutely correct. Her head, front and neck are superb as are her well padded tight feet. I loved her topline, her ribbing and her well angled rear. However, this is all surpassed when she takes to the move and her profile picture can be observed. She never falters, she  moves effortlessly with drive and her muscle tone is perfect. All topped off with a super well presented jacket. You get the idea I quite like her!

2nd Rollinson’s “ Ir Ch Nosinllor Artemis” So hard when you come up against such an outstanding b as the first, but that said, this placed b has a lovely head and front and moves very well. She could be a tad shorter in loin  for perfection. Well presented and shown. Super temperament.

3rd Patton’s “Bardings By The Way”
