It was a great honour to be asked to judge at Crufts and I thank the
exhibitors for entering their dogs and accepting my decisions very
sportingly. Many thanks to my two stewards for keeping my ring running
smoothly, especially the old master, Bill Evans! There were many top quality
dogs for me to go over but I was still very disappointed with many of the
dogs shoulder constructions, short, steep upper arms seem very commonplace.
On the plus side, the heads on most are good with only a small number of
incorrect bites. I was very happy with most of my winners, and I thought all
my principal winners excellent, all with correct reach and drive on the
move. My two ticket winners were beautiful moving around together and the
final nod for BOB was my hardest decision of the day.
VD (6, 1) 1 Moore & Coverley's Ch/Ir Ch Ex Sentia I'm Bond James Bond (Imp
Pol). I believe I gave this young man his first ever Res CC several years
ago and he still looks well. Beautiful head, correct eye, long neck, well
laid shoulder, correct pro-sternum, good bone and ribbing, correctly
angulated quarters, moved very soundly, harsh coat. 2 Carter's Romanchi
Alkansea. Lovely head and eye, heavier type than my winner, good forechest,
bone and feet, ribbing carried well back, balanced quarters which he really
used on the move, tail set a bit high. 3 Schlosser's Apollon Q-rrens Von
Hungary (ATC AT00137HUN). This dog has a beautiful head, correct eye shape
and colour, good harsh coat, not quite enough forechest and depth for me but
kept his outline on the move with correct extension fore and aft.
PD (3) 1 Sorensen's Tendrow Time After Time. Red boy with a very good coat,
lovely head and eye, excellent pro-sternum, good shoulder placement, good
ribbing, balanced quarters, extends well on the move but topline needs to
settle. 2 Vig's Q-rrens-Dax Enzo-Topazo. Different type entirely from my
winner. Correct head, dark oval eye, harsh jacket, not enough forechest and
depth to ribbing but very balanced rear, moved out well. 3 Carter's Romanchi
Stargazer. This puppy was rather in two pieces at the moment. He had a
beautiful head, long neck, good bone and feet, fair ribbing, fair quarters.
On the move he was sound enough fore and aft but didn't keep his outline.
JD (2) 1 Bellamy's Veenen Onyx Resetin Gold At Garjay. This dog kept a nice
outline on the move. He had the correct shaped head, dark almond eye, would
have preferred a better layback of shoulder, good pro-sternum and excellent
ribbing, well angulated and muscled quarters, sound. 2 Herrod's Kindeace
Wish You Were Here. Again a good head, eye, ear set, decent neck, good bone
and feet, excellent ribbing, he could do with a little more angulation for
me but he was completely balanced and moved soundly, super temperament.
PGD (8) 1 Vine's Derochaise Justified For Chiselvine. Good head, correct eye
shape and colour, good neck and shoulder placement, good pro-sternum,
correct ribbing, well angulated quarters, high tail set, detracts a little,
super bone and feet, harsh jacket, super outline on the move with correct
extension. 2 Wharton & Pughe's Derochaise Black Tarquin. Litter mate to my
winner and many of the same remarks apply, he is a very smart young man. I
just preferred the shoulder of my winner, he moved with good drive from very
well balanced rear. 3 Sorensen's Jethard Just Jive. Beautifully balanced
head, dark almond eye, long neck, little upright in shoulder, excellent
ribbing, good top and underline, sound on the move.
LD (13, 1) 1 McPherson & Patterson's Treis Pinheiros Obi Kenobi SW (Imp Esp)
Gib Jun Ch. I thought this dog was absolutely super, correct head and dark
almond eye, good ear set, good neck running into well laid shoulder, good
pro-sternum, excellent ribbing, correctly balanced quarters, good bone and
feet, moved correctly fore and aft and in profile, super reach and drive
keeping a super outline. My CC winner today. Loved him. 2 McCalmont's Silvae
Quantum. A bigger dog all round. Super long head, correct almond eye, long
neck, good layback of shoulder, would have preferred slightly longer upper
arm, excellent pro-sternum and length of ribbing, well developed quarters,
tail a little high set, moved with excellent reach and drive. 3 Langridge's
Tendrow Elberta. Slightly plainer in head, correct eye shape and colour,
excellent bone and feet. He won his place on his balanced outline and
overall soundness.
OD (11) Quality dogs down the line in this class. 1 McCalmont's Ch Silvae
Farrago. Super headpiece, dark eye, good ear set, good neck and shoulder,
good ribbing, good top and underline, well balanced quarters, tail a bit
high set, good harsh jacket, moved soundly. Res CC. 2 Phillips' Ch Tendrow
Replayed In Blue. Completely different type from the winner but equally as
good. I was really torn between the two, both had excellent virtues, both
beautifully balanced on the move which I love. Again excellent in
construction with a good head, correct eye shape and colour, good angulation
front and rear, good bone, well padded feet. Harsh jacket. 3 McPherson
& Patterson's Ch Fransin Brasilian TP Panettone (Imp Ita) ShCM. Good head,
neck and shoulder placement, excellent bone and feet, long ribbing,
excellent quarters, moved soundly and with good drive.
GCD (1) 1 Weatherer's Salixian Levante Via Itsuitzuz. Correct head, good
bone and feet, ribbing carried well back, harsh coat, well balanced happy
boy. Sound.
VB (2) 1 Patton's CIB/Ir Ch Lesandnic Liberthine. Super head on this girl,
correct eye shape and colour, lovely front, correct bone and feet, good
ribbing, correctly angulated quarters, very good on the move with good
extension. 2 Rollinson's Ch Nosinllor Joan Of Arc. Another very sound girl.
Not quite the shoulders of my winner, but otherwise a very good quality
exhibit with excellent bone, correctly angulated rear and excellent length
of ribbing, good harsh coat, sound moving around.
PB (4, 1) 1 Phillips' Tendrow Time 'N' Time Again. Very nice type of puppy,
good head, eye, long neck, excellent shoulder placement, good shoulder blade
to upper arm ratio, excellent pro-sternum, good ribbing carried well back,
beautifully balanced quarters, moved out well, if she had behaved better she
could well have snatched BP from her sister. 2 Pughe & Fraser's Miss Tamara
At Bystock. Different type from my winner but also with lots of quality.
Good head, keeps a good top and underline, slightly more upright in shoulder
and would have preferred more length to her ribbing but nevertheless very
sound with great extension from the rear. 3 Wharton's Lady Giselle Of
Greyhayne.
JB (9, 2) 1 Phillips' Tendrow A Page In Time. This puppy certainly is full
of herself. Her handler had to work quite hard to keep her attention!
Excellent head, correct almond dark eye, good ear set, good neck running
into well laid shoulders, good pro-sternum, excellent bone and feet, really
well balanced quarters with correct rear pasterns, harsh coat, moved well
and with a certain spirit. 2 Bubb's Rocinda Dora For Wyeknot. Very pretty
bitch of good type. She had a good head, bone, feet and ribbing. I would
have preferred a little more upper arm and also a little more length to
second thigh to allow a bit more length of stride, but she is balanced. 3
Vertes' Idesuss Jujjdejo HJCh (ATC AS03157HUN). Much taller type with an
excellent head, neck and shoulder, good pro-sternum, balanced front and
rear, excellent coat, absolutely sound.
PGB (12, 2) 1 Wharton's Greyhayne Lotty Merry. Very honest bitch of good
type, pleasing head, good forechest and ribbing, decent shoulder angulation,
well balanced hindquarters, kept her outline in profile and moved true
coming and going. 2 Clayton-Smith's Boloria's April Fool. Attractive head,
good forechest and bone, would prefer a little better length of upper arm,
good balance to her quarters, tail a little high set, lovely temperament and
absolutely sound on the move. 3 Bates & Maes-Jones' Derochaise Frosted
Orchid. Very close up to the second placed bitch here with many similar
virtues. She also has a very attractive head and is very balanced
throughout. I felt she was slightly narrower coming towards me today.
LB (12, 1) 1 Vine's Gravetye Kiss Me Kate Cishelvine. Very nice type of
bitch with a pretty head, dark eye, good ear set, correct neck running into
well placed and angulated shoulder, correct pro-sternum, long ribbing,
strong well angulated quarters, moved parallel fore and aft and kept a good
outline with correct extension on the move. 2 Paterson's Ambiesque Agna.
Taller type of bitch with a good outline and plenty of elegance. She was
very balanced with good bone and excellent drive from her quarters. I would
have liked longer ribbing. 3 Patton's Lesandnic Snow Fairy. Best coat in the
class. Good head with underjaw, good eye shape, long neck, well laid
shoulder, excellent bone and ribbing, balanced in angulation, happy
temperament, moved well.
OB (10, 2) 1 McCalmont's Ch Silvae Solo. These clever breeders consistantly
bring out top quality stock, all of them presented to perfection in the
perfect coat and body condition. Beautiful bitch to go over, everything in
the right place, the best of heads, dark almond eye, good neck, good lay of
shoulder, prominent forechest, excellent bone and feet, ribs carried well
back to super quarters, she moves with correct reach and drive with good
width through her quarters and looks as if she could do it all day. My CC
and BOB. I was thrilled to see her perform well in the Group and finish a
very good second. Well done. 2 Phillips' Ch Tendrow Peaches. Another top
quality bitch with lots to offer. I watcher her in the Group a couple of
years ago at Crufts and thought she looked lovely. Beautifully balanced all
through with super construction and she certainly knows how to move. I am
sure these two bitches can easily change places another day but today Solo
had the edge on condition. 3 Rowe's Boloria Naughty But Nice ShCM. Chocolate
and tan bitch of good breed type. Head ok, eye a little rounder, good
forechest, bone and ribbing, excellent first and second thigh, good
muscletone, moved well and with great enthusiasm. Well handled.
GCB (2) 1 Lady Giselle Of Greyhayne. 2 Brontillow Lady Dane.
Mrs Fran Mitchell
